  1. Who doesn’t? And that was more so you could get a better big picture (pun intended ). All those names, applications, libraries, tools, their relations, etc., that can be difficult to get.
  2. The name is Stud.io and it uses POVRay for rendering.
  3. They are not deleted, they just miss their colour information, so they are not available in “(standard) LDD” anymore but they are available in “LDD Extended.”
  4. Have you tried opening the exported files in an LDraw program (like LDView)? (You don’t need to quit LDD to change the ldraw.xml file. The ldraw.xml file can be changed while LDD is running.) Stud.io actually uses LDView (as a library) to export to POVRay and it launches POVRay for you. You can also get the POVRay file if you want to tweak it (via export I believe). I haven’t checked but I don’t think they are using the latest wonderfully smooth LGEO files from Darats.
  5. Just answering to this part: Did you update your ldraw.xml file? (Link just posted by inkpanther.) And did you try lxf2ldr, which converts decorations (when possible) and flexible parts (through LSynth)?
  6. It might just run out of memory. As for the server, all is good here.
  7. AKAIK, they don’t “connect.” But you can put the rack into the housing with scaffolding. (“Scaffolding” means using temporary parts that do connect.) As you won’t be able to rotate or move them both once the scaffolding is removed, I would advise to keep the scaffolding until the last moment or to correctly place one of the parts before placing the other.
  8. It has been there for a few updates already… in LDD Extended. New parts are only added to LDD Extended now.
  9. 10. If you open the LXFML file, yes. But you need to extract it from the LXF first. (You might need to rename the .lxf to .zip first. And, as I said, use a clever zip extractor otherwise it will be stumped by the corruption.)
  11. The zip seems corrupted and can’t be opened with a “simple” unzip program (or LDD). But I could unzip it with 7-zip and the LXFML file it contains seems okay.
  12. That part has always had decoration problems: the pictures aren’t correctly matched to the decorable zones and the zones aren’t all available in LDD. It seems 4.3.11 still allows one zone to be decorated: the base. (You can put eyes on the base!) There are four decorable zones and four pictures. You can decorate only by editing the LXFML (which, AFAICT, isn’t against the EULA). I found that “0,99596,73156,0” is the only combination that makes sense in LDD (eyes + mouth). And then Bluerender renders the mouth on the belly. MatthewRC’s render has the eyes on the belly and the mouth on the eyes, so I guess it’s another combination or a random problem.
  13. Big OOPS! That’s the gitlab member URL. This is the anonymous download: git clone https://gitlab.com/sylvainls/lxf2ldr.git Correcting the README right now.
  14. I just pushed a new version with a minimal GUI.
  15. @supertruper1988 I’ll think about it. The main obstacles are: 1. I can’t build or test Mac or Windows versions, 2. I’m a CLI guy
  16. Update 2018-03-22 Added: 16968 / 16968.dat Brick 1 x 4 with Inside Clips 63586 / 61190d.dat Minifig Helmet Rangefinder for SW Clone Trooper Helmet md5sum: 1d33fef76450f2ac35d21da1f34327f3
  17. It’s called “Easy Buy” (or “Auto-Select” if you want a bit more options / a bit less magic). The problem is no one knows how it works. There are examples of strange behaviours and no explanations given.
  18. Maybe this will be clearer: Making the model in LDD: days of work minimum. Making the instructions: days of work minimum. Building with real bricks from instructions: a couple hours max.
  19. I need a pony. No, make that a unicorn. A pink one.
  20. Update 2018-03-12 Added: 99253 / 99253.dat Minifig Lasso Made importable: 4.dat, 5.dat, 148.dat, 174.dat Corrected: 32324 / 32324.dat Technic Brick 4 x 4 with Open Center 2 x 2 md5sum: 8aca9c9ba75fb66ea31aa809df1989fc
  21. Read the previous posts about copying and editing scene.sc.
  22. Regarding colour availability, LDD is wrong on many parts. Moreover, a lot of new parts are only available in LDD extended where you can use any colour. Stud.io is more accurate, though, according to messages in the dedicated forum, there are a few hiccups. The best solution is to use BrickLink’s colour information but you also need to be careful here because parts said to be available in BrickLink aren’t always available: rare colours, rare parts, a few errors….
  23. Nice building Yes, build to scale. But getting the right scale is important. You might encounter problems with a scale (e.g. 1:100) you wouldn’t have with a slightly different one (say 1:110). So, as there are very distinctive repetitive features (especially the “holes” and texture of the first floors), I’d start with trying to make one in bricks then use that to decide which scale to use. Once you have the scale, you can cheat here and there to make it simple in bricks but still true to life. You don’t need to strictly adhere to the scale or to the real thing to make it look more true to life.
  24. Update 2018-03-09 A few minor errors and typos corrected. More than 400 aliases and variants added for import. Even very old LDraw files should be importable now Caveat: They were found by their names, I only checked their overall shape As they mostly are pure aliases or straightforward (they follow rules), their positions and orientations shouldn’t differ from the main parts but it could happen (2714.dat is an example), so they could be badly imported. Don’t hesitate to signal such cases. md5sum: 143439981813cf18d8257830f3282345
