  1. BL said they are the ones who will pack. They’ll get the parts from LEGO in bulk.
  2. BL admin Russell said the aimed price range was $20 to $200, which means a $0.10 per part (the usual average).
  3. To reduce the number of pages and the BOM size, you can change the scale(s) and the layout(s) (columns & rows) on each page and callout. Still some bugs though, such as with the callouts (though some glitches seem to disappear after having restarted the application).
  4. The stability check isn’t a hard requirement: https://www.bricklink.com/message.asp?ID=1107442
  5. The editor part uses the game engine Unity. Their renderer, Eyesight, is based on Blender’s Cycles and can use NVidia CUDA.
  6. Yes, problematic for axles and technic parts: When trying to put an axle pin (43093) into a brick with axlehole (32064), Stud.io kept turning the pin front to back It looks as if the axlehole is oriented and Stud.io finds it easier to put the axle from the other side.
  7. Update 2018-09-22 Added: 15406 / 15406.dat Minifig, Backpack with Horizontal Pin Holes 28588 / 28588.dat Animal Snake Head with Open Mouth, Fangs and Curved Neck with Bar 42013 / 42013.dat Belville Ice Skate Rematched/renamed: 92713 / 92713c01.dat Conveyor Belt 4 x 16 with 14 Treads (Formed) md5sum: 93643b0033619d913b118253e37c72f6
  8. I wouldn’t say “LDD killer,” LDD is pretty much slowly commiting suicide.
  9. The verification is a bit strange: I had to replace a White 54200 with… a White 54200!
  10. On the left assembly, click once again on the middle disc. LDD will propose you the second possible rotation. On the right assembly, click twice on the middle disc.
  11. You need to rotate BOTH the end and the middle disc. The part hinges on two orthogonal planes. You can’t achieve an out-of-plane rotation with only one in-plane rotation, you need two. Take the unmodified part, put an axle in one end and a brick with hole around the axle than turn the axle by 45°. You have your X. Now, rotate the middle disc and the other end to achieve your 45° “up” angle. I didn’t do the math but with one of the middle disc’s angles at around -150° and the other at around 35°, it looks okay.
  12. You need to rotate the middle disc too. Click several times on the same (sub)part to change the hinge point: the ends have one hinge point, the middle disc has two. If you click on an end, only the end will rotate (and be surrounded in red), if you click on the middle disc (not always easy), it will rotate (and one end will follow).
  13. I tried it and find it lacks explanations. What’s the difference between a warning and a caution? (E.g. on your model, why are some panels on the top warnings and others cautions, they don’t seem to be attached much differently.) Are we supposed to correct them all? (E.g. on your model, the 75° slopes at the base, they seem well connected both below and above, what else could be done for them?)
  14. No flexible parts in Stud.io yet. It’s been WIP for a time now. It seems they preferred including the (less asked for) stability check in the final version.
  15. Yes to more than one submission (they even say you could win 20 times ). And what is discouraged is publishing pictures of your MoCs because naughty people could steal them and some could even produce knock offs even before the crowdfunding phase.
  16. The palette will arrive with the version 2.0 final of Stud.io, at the start of the event, the 18th.
  17. They offer what they could get and identify from LDraw.
  18. Download the file, fire up LDCad, open the file by clicking “Open a file from disk” in the “Getting started” menu that should appear, or using the “Open…” entry in the “File” menu.
  19. And projects must be new.
  20. Well, the real announcement has eventually been posted: https://www.bricklink.com/message.asp?ID=1106293 And you can read details and FAQs there: https://studio.bricklink.com/v2/build/afoldesigner.page

  23. Look here: And more generally here:
  24. Besides, if it were a rendering problem, wouldn’t there still be the quantity “x2” in the part list?
