They are in Modified Plates (10th icon). 22890 (I’m not sure it’s used here) is only available in LDD Extended mode (View / New Themes / LDD Extended).

Missing LDD decals in LeoCAD
SylvainLS replied to altnet's topic in Digital LEGO: Tools, Techniques, and Projects
Second torso (classic space) is 973p6j.dat and third torso (sweatshirt with pocket) is 973p7j.dat. lxf2ldr should convert both of them correctly. -
Missing LDD decals in LeoCAD
SylvainLS replied to altnet's topic in Digital LEGO: Tools, Techniques, and Projects
(Image missing. You should use an external site to store your images and then link them.) It’s true, there’re lots of missing patterns in LDraw (the library of parts LeoCAD uses). There also are missing shapes. The LDraw community welcomes volunteers As for matching decorations/patterns, it’s not easy, especially because some of LDD’s decorations are awful: they lack details or are simply not really looking like the real ones. There’s also a lot of decorations that exist in real life and are missing in LDD. Some of them exist in LDraw. There’s no perfect tool…. -

Is this connection actually possible?
SylvainLS replied to NathanR's topic in Digital LEGO: Tools, Techniques, and Projects
Reread what I wrote above about measures and being in System. 15712 and all other variants fo tile with clip are in System in both LDD and LDraw. That means you can do that: (Blue brick is a 4070.) If we couldn’t do that, the clips would be out of System. And that’s exactly NathanR’s question: Are clips in System? Are you saying they aren’t?- 14 replies

SylvainLS replied to NathanR's topic in Digital LEGO: Tools, Techniques, and Projects
Yes, LDraw parts have errors (the biggest one being technic holes being at the same height as side studs), but, here, we are talking about being “in System” or simply consistent. See the image below (LDD): the bars should be at the same height, they are not.- 14 replies

Is this connection actually possible?
SylvainLS replied to NathanR's topic in Digital LEGO: Tools, Techniques, and Projects
I tried with lock hinges (they have the same dimensions/rules than clips but haven’t the horizontal freedom clips have) and ended up with the same paper-thin gap. It’s just a tiny precision error in LDD. After converting to LDR, it’s a 0.2 LDU / 0.08 mm error in both depth and height (the plate with clip is 0.2 LDU higher and 0.2 LDU more to the back (to the right in your pic)). Actually, the center of the bar/clip is 0.2 LDU higher than it should be to be exactly in System (as it is in LDraw). It’s true for the plates with clip(s) 6019, 61252, 63868, 60470, and 11476, the plates with handle/bar 26047, 60478, and 18649, but NOT the tiles with clip 2555, 12825, and 15712, nor the plate with clip on top 92280. (I haven’t yet measured the error with lock hinges.) Interestinigly, that’s exactly the same error LDD has with holes in technic bricks: the stud of a half pin in a technic hole should be 0.12 mm / 0.3 LDU higher than a side stud, it’s 0.08 mm / 0.2 LDU higher than that (0.20 mm / 0.5 LDU higher than the side stud). Thank you very much! I’ll now have to check and correct a lot of LDD to LDraw transformations for which I may have used the wrong clips as references- 14 replies

For LDView, I fear you’ll need to compile it yourself from the sources. For POVRay, there should be packages in your distribution (there’re in Debian). Contrarily to the Windows version, there’s no GUI though. It’s just CLI. So a bit more austere. From LeoCAD, you can export to a POVRay file. A “Render” dialog seems to be in development. By the way, newer LeoCAD versions do a little shading, it’s the View/Preferences/Rendering/Shading mode/Default lights option. You can also try importing your LDraw files in Stud.io and use their “embedded” POVRay.

LDD guidlines for good allignment?
SylvainLS replied to Nico15's topic in Digital LEGO: Tools, Techniques, and Projects
LDD is a bit more lenient on axles than on pegs (collision boxes are a bit smaller). The best way is to compute the angles mathematically and use 2 digits precision values. (E.g. for a 3x4x5 triangle, use 53.13°.) You can rotate the beams with the mouse but that will often lead to approximative angles that may work with that connection but lead to problems with other constructions later. (I just checked with the mouse and LDD allows ±0.25° with a peg, ±0.75° with an axle; and that’s to connect the parts (outlined in green), you can sometimes force parts in some positions where they neither collide nor connect.) -
Extendable Shock Absorbers Hack

You can still export them in LDraw, adjust their size with an LDraw CAD, then import them back. If there’re not many parts and collisions, it should work. -
Angle Plate Angles?
SylvainLS replied to mouseketeer's topic in Digital LEGO: Tools, Techniques, and Projects
From the top left: ±21.094°, ±23.906°, ±23.906°, ±21.094°. (21.1° and 23.9° should work.) Found with a little geometry: the green segment figures the middle segment of the curve, it’s 2 studs long, 1 on each side of the symmetry x=y axis (not shown), and as you want symmetry, it will be at −45° (or at right angle from the x=y axis). We don’t know where it will be exactly but its left end will be on the blue line (perpendicular with the green segment). The red segment is the top left segment, its left end is 4 studs from the center of the curve we’re making. It’s 2 studs long (hence the bigger circle) and its right end will also be on the line drawn from the end of the green segment. As we want the curve to be convex, we take the right-most intersection point between the bigger circle and the line. And we find that the inner angle is 68.906°, so the first hinge part angle will be (90°−68.906=) ±21.094° (sign depends on the subpart you turn). As we want the middle segment at 45°, the second hinge will be at (45°−21.094°=68.90°−45°=) ±23.906°. And symmetrics for the two other hinges. Easy peasy You can’t use that because it’s not a regular polygon: its summits have to be on studs. (Here, the “radius” for the connected sides is exactly 2.5 the length of a side. A regular hexadecagon has a radius of about 2.56 times its side.) -

Don’t use it. 60169 and 92338 are flexible in LDD, so LDD doesn’t export them. You should use other tools, like lxf2ldr which exports them as LSynth macros. Note that the LDraw versions are a tiny bit longer than 16L and 6L whereas LDD’s are exactly 16L and 6L. md5sum: 9c9243dd296eda1c18dc58c4c26ed462 Update 2017-09-19b Rematched: 92338 / 92338c01.dat Minifig Chain 6L (This one is exactly 6L.) md5sum: 31659ef89cf5ca1ca4aec826c5509d9e

In “LDD mode,” lots of bricks are missing colours or have colours that don’t actually exist. Besides, the last part updates only added bricks in “Extended mode” (as 20482), they are not available in “LDD mode,” so, even if there ever were other updates, I doubt they would add colour information / availability in “LDD mode.”

See notes on https://www.bricklink.com/v2/catalog/catalogitem.page?id=10079#T=P (and 540-1). 540-1 = USA; 356-1 = Europe, Australia, Canada. Two markets, two numbers. It’s more globalized nowadays but there’re still sets that aren’t available worldwide (e.g. asian new year sets), or not at the same time.
