  1. Unfortunately, LDD by itself won’t do anything more (unless a secret version 5.0 finally gets out). ldraw.xml is just data, not code. BUT, there’s this guy I know who made a little tool to go a bit further than LDD (it does groups, flex parts (needs LSynth), and some multi-coloured and patterned parts):
  2. Yes, I’m thinking it might be why the update was annuled: the left part should be a subpart in an assembly, with a plug and a hub. We shouldn’t be able to use it alone.
  3. That’s what I tried to explain, very unsuccessfully Happily, M2m came to save the day.
  4. Assets.lif isn’t db.lif. Assets.lif is in LDD application directories (next to the binary), it contains db.lif and db.lif is copied in the user’s directories when LDD is first started (sorry, I don’t know where that is on a MAC).
  5. @LEGOFUN Did you update your ldraw.xml file in LDD? If not, see:
  6. Update 2018-01-12b Added: 27976 / 27976.dat Slide 4 x 6 x 6 md5sum: e4161d2f0cb025fa7360ae1043835fe0
  7. Update 2018-01-12 Added: 28387 / 28387.dat Slide 6 x 6 x 6 Quarter Turn Left Down Going Corrected (new version in Unofficial): 30632 / 30632.dat Technic 6 x 4 x 3 Grille with Two Pins and Two Pin Holes md5sum: 69db0b54d31fb9835a4f90d1623ce565
  8. My guess is a few assemblies came not assembled, the subparts being directly available. That could be an error (and even why the update was removed) or on purpose (like they did for the 2x2 turntable a few updates back).
  9. Update 2018-01-10b Added (part freshly submitted to Unofficial): 33763 / 33763.dat Technic Ribbed Hose 26L md5sum: 05ea8505cf37e82b8e2ad90bb22ca594 And I think that’ll be all for some time for the newly added parts to LDD (a bit more than 300 unmatched).

  11. It’s plain text / csv, just the ID (semi-colon) and the design name, I thought it would be easier A few of the 401 new files aren’t actually accessible (the files are in the LIF but you can’t find them by their ID in LDD). I’ve found about 55 that have an LDraw counterpart (same ID) (ldraw.xml already updated for most of them). About 30 other seem to just be new aliases (I’ll check their painting areas later, maybe they add/correct something). The rest is a lot of new parts for constraction, animals, minifigs, elves/friends that are either not in LDraw at all or very difficult (at least to me) to find. So, if any of you find any part that you know is an alias, or for which you know the LDraw ID, feel free to tell me (and that also goes for older parts ).
  12. Replace everything. Granted, Readme.txt and licences are the same but all the other files are important too (e.g. p contains primitives).
  13. Update 2018-01-09_2670b A.k.a. the “These are new in Unofficial and there was a spurious character somewhere” update. 15. Complete list of the 401 new parts here.
  16. 15070 is in BrickLink: https://www.bricklink.com/v2/catalog/catalogitem.page?id=123911#T=C It’s also 15070 in LDraw (hence LPub). Maybe you should upgrade your parts library (LDraw 2017.1 is just out). As for LDD to LDraw conversion, look here:

  18. 401 new parts (and subparts/assemblies). No new decorations. It will take a little time to add them (correctly) to ldraw.xml I really hope they will republish it (or its younger sibling) soon.
  19. Theoretically (that is, as I understand the theory): With a hollow stud, there will be a little play, the usual brick tolerance (0.1 mm is the value given most often for brick width). Tolerance is good. With a logoed stud, there will be stress (0.14 - 0.1 = 0.04 mm), which isn’t advised. Practically (I just tried, with new bricks): With a hollow stud, the fit is perfect. With a logoed stud, the logo clearly pushes the brick.
  20. He says it’s illegal. That means it adds stress. Therefore the yellow brick is not merely brushed, it’s slightly pushed. That’s how I understand it. On the other hand, there’re several examples of official sets (and modern ones) that use “illegal” techniques and “near-enoughs.”

  24. Yellow parts seem to be jumpers. So the space under the road is 1 plate + ½ stud = 2¼ plates = 18 LDU. I just measured a 12825 and a 15712, they are both 0.736 cm = 18 LDU high. So it’s a perfect match! And, FWIW, that build works in LDD with 2555 and 12825 but not with 15712.
