Because some of you seemed to like some of the changes I made to older minifigures I thought I would show some others while I am moving around my collection so it's easy to get at them. Here's a more stumpy version of darth vader from 8096 the original version : unfortunately I got some bad luck and the white component of the head print is misaligned with the rest so it looks strange. Asajj ventress from 7676 with the new head from 75087: the original version: I really like this. Here's a bunch of imperial scum with some fresh boots: Here's captain panaka's head and hat from 7961 with the new naboo security officer body from 75091: original version: This isn't really a lego minifig to begin with so it doesn't count but I got it to replace my old lando from 10123. lego version: I think that it was sent to me with the finn mini-afro hair but I think I like it better with the slicked back hair. I think the most accurate hair would be a bit of both. Here's my "general lando" from 7754 but with the head and hair replaced with the head from 9496 and the new slicked back hair: I think he prefers his new do! Here's Luke from 9496 but with the dark tan hair instead of tan. I also used Barriss Offee's black cape and hood and used it here as it was just laying around. original: this was possible because I replaced Barriss' cloak with naare's dark blue one from the new set 75145. Here you can also see Obi-wan from 7676 with head and hair from 9494, and Ahsoka with a custom shoto saber made from a 4L bar of the old green lightsaber blade colour cut to 3L because it doesn't exist in that colour. I plan on making "normal" (ie non clone wars cartoon style) faces for Ahsoka and Shaak Ti also but haven't got around to it yet so I just have the original head for now. Barriss: and Obi-wan (hideous!!):

Is there anything from the OT that has not been built?
atlas replied to PaddyBricksplitter's topic in LEGO Star Wars
I think the answer is no - remember the mustafar Darth Vader figure in 8096 has 2 hands and two complete legs. Plus I think they consider the "torso assembly" to be 1 part, not 5 I.e not intended to be disassembled. -
Also sorry about the double post but I forgot about this a long time ago and just remembered. I don't know if it's common knowledge but the "t-16 pilot" from 75081 actually features Luke's lightsaber training helmet that appears on the falcon in episode 4. See: and Luke: cool, right? Another interesting thing is that this helmet also reappeared in the empire strikes back extremely briefly on Hoth and also in the briefing room for the attack on the second death star, like a lot of the pilot helmets in the original trilogy. I really appreciate that the graphic designers that make the star wars minifigures put some of these sorts of details because there's no possibility of a "Karie Neth" minifigure ever being made unless my dreams materialise and there is a star wars CMF series. Anyway, enough rambling, here's how it looks and some other updates I have made to Luke figures: Pretty blurry but it should do. Enjoy the detail of the desk!

Sorry about the bad photos I was in a rush. Is this what you mean? Personally I dont like it, there isnt a way to hide the tabards(?) on the back and the rear one flips out as well. I like the cape on the back because it has the dark red and even though it isn't an exact translation of the form of the costume, as an abstract one, i like it. With two of the judges robes, to me it looks silly.

thanks! Strangely I made that change with the cheese slopes this evening, funny that you mentioned it and noticed as well. It certainly flows better with the new structure I have and the 'window' of greebling that is created by the dark grey pieces is s better shape.

thanks! I made some more progress recently and have started on the fuselage. A lot of the middle area (fuselage) has been rebuilt to accommodate the pieces that create the angles for the hexagon shape. I'm happy with this, the gaps on the back don't bug me as much as I thought that they would and I managed to sort of fit in a hexagon ish shape that is less than 6 wide. Let me know what you think!

[MOC] UCS CR-90 Corellian Corvette – Blockade Runner (Tantive IV)
atlas replied to mortesv's topic in LEGO Star Wars
Reading that again I don't think what I wrote reflected what I meant. Personally, I have a habit of choosing to get 'local' details on a model right which often comes at the expense of general scale and proportion. When I wrote that i think I was commenting on the 4 fin-struts on the middle of the fuselage. I mean, what you've done is about as close I can imagine getting so it wasn't really appropriate. But I can imagine being in your position and agonising over how to get a continuous shape like the studio model instead of biting the bullet and doing something like you did, you know what I mean ?- 129 replies

Lovely rendition, I really like how you make sacrifices in detail to maintain scale and proportion. I suggest that you join flickr and start putting your work in there, it will be a hit- 129 replies

I recently added the judge's robes (?) to my royal guardsmen, I think they look great and create the illusion of an actual robe. Lego's use of a cape to portray anything flowing has always bugged me so I like this.

I kind of disagree. I think the face was very good in 75096, the only problem was the mouth. Maul's eyes are a key feature of his face and they look the best in the new infiltrator imo. That face with a closed mouth would be ideal!

Amen brother. The pricing is getting out of control. I know it's ridiculous and the quintessential first world problem, but really, what a rip off!

In australia tax is included in the price.

I agree, I've contemplated doing the front prongs with plates but I'll keep it as is for now. I'm in the process of taking photos for instructions.

Not at the moment, due to the way the wings are built I couldn't find a way to fit a 2x2 round or 4x2 hole at the angle required inside the wing.

I wasn't talking about hats literally. Yeah it's cool but it's kind of laughable that these things are selling points. All of the minifigs are also in 75159

i was more referring to this (sadly i am somtimes a victim of this)

hello all. So, I made some progress shortly after my last post but after that it's been collecting dust for a while. I picked it up again a few days ago and here's what I have. I rebuilt the engines as they were too tall and created a 0 shape instead of a nice, round O. I also got some more parts in that have eliminated some patchiness and I've also started on the fuselage as that it very slow going - they width now that I have, for the entire wingspan as well as just in between each wing is perfect but it's made it very difficult to fit in a hexagonal shape inbetween the 2 wide centre that I have and the inner edges of the wings. That''s where I got stuck. https://www.flickr.c.../in/dateposted/

So over the weekend I finished up Vader's and Obi-wan's fighters. They are built almost exactly the same (the dark green one is a bit different obviously due to the livery) I think, in fact the two "coruscant battle" ships might be identical. Unfortunately, I kind of rushed some of the stickers with these because I was getting impatient with myself. You can see on the left wing of Obi-wan's ship, the furthermost stripe behind the s-foils are visible. Also, the triangular shapes behind the s-foils are not as well done as the first one (along with all of the stickers really) because I had to use lego sticker sheets and cut them up to have more or less matching colours, sometimes there weren't big enough blobs of solid colour to get a proper shape which is disappointing but by no means the end of the world. With the first one i had the luxury of a whole roll of electrical tape which is a pretty close yellow. Anyway, here you go. These photos are kind of redundant (and not as well lit, it was a race against time to beat the sunset) because it's the same ship, just new colours. But when I see other creations that I even mildly enjoy, I love to have as many angles as possible to look at. So hopefully someone can appreciate them! :) Albums: vader - https://www.flickr.com/photos/48109771@N05/sets/72157672139200562 obi-wan - https://www.flickr.c...157673173069065

Sad that we have reached the 'new hair' era of lego
-
Relax, it will be white for sure . It's not like the other officers where the proper colour lies somewhere in between.
-
Nice. I've been playing around with a similar design for a while (the wedge plates). Can you please show the bottom and how the 4x4 wedge plates are attached at that angle?

[MOC] Darth Vader's TIE Advanced in minifig scale
atlas replied to Florian_Wayne's topic in LEGO Star Wars
Apologies for the double post but one recommendation I can give is to remove the extra plates/tiles on the big 1/4 curved bricks at the back. It kind of disrupts the nice shape that they produce if you have a jagged edge on top, even if it's flatter. -
I personally have never understood the obsession with 10179, it's probably due to its limited existence. It hasn't aged well and is overrated.
