Interesting about the scale. I've decided to build my minifig scale models at about 4 studs per metre (with a minifig being 6 studs tall, including 1x1s on each legs and a headgear piece). So are you just going for a particular scale with the 2.6=m or is that your basis for a personal 'minifigure scale'? Of course the problem always comes back to minifigure proportions versus those of s human, so I regard my minifigs as generally 150cm tall.

That astromech looks great. It would be funny if they include this shiny new stand, no follow transparent domes, etc. and yet it still probably fill have a plain back with no printing. I also wish that they updated the mood for the astromech legs to make them thinner. 3 studs wide at the base of the leg would be a great improvement over the current 4. I wonder what it's for? Just another "promo", or is it for May 4?

Sell it immediately. It's just new plastic in a box and the price is about to drop (probably )

Forty thousand? What do you do with all of that? Does anyone ever see them? That is baffling.

I've been a Lego addict for a long time. For me personally, it's not just enough to have one version of a character, I have to have every single costume variation and so forth. Not sure why, but I feel that way.

That is really nice. Great build aesthetic and the crates look super. Just well done overall, interior is a great bonus as well.

Sorry for he double post but I just wanted to add my last update of 2016. I'm about to go on holiday so work will stall again, but here's a view of a preliminary nose structure which hopefully fleshes the whole build out some more. https://www.flickr.com/photos/48109771@N05/31970539525/in/dateposted/

Thanks. I agree with you re the engines. for tubing, I have two options that I'm looking at but its only cosmetic so that's why I haven't added it yet. Because the tap pieces aren't made in DBG, I would have to paint those and even then they don't really fit properly. So my favoured idea at the moment for when I get around to attaching them is to cut some flex tubing and mould it into a soft L shape. This method also will allow me to use already metallic finish Lego rather than painting parts so I think I will go with that.

75059, 75098, 10236 all fit into the play set category though. I want something new.

Thank you. Which version do you think is more accurate overall to the source material? here are some reference images for a better idea. At the moment, I feel like a better shape for the half-tube section of that area is more important than an offset to the engines and a more accurate edge to the greebles on the back of the engine, so I put back my original build. Any other opinions?

Hello again. For about 6 weeks I stopped working on this for several reasons. The first is that my workspace was occupied by another project. I have also been losing some of the passion that I have for the model. I figured that it would be a waste not to finish it given the amount of time I've spent on it, but hopefully episode 8 makes me more excited about he new trilogy nonetheless. I've completed the fuselage up to the beginning of the cockpit now and I am mostly satisfied with it so far. Sadly, I have been forced to remove the little prongs between the side of the fuselage and the engines. I really liked those bits, so it is a shame to have to get rid of them, but I'll definitely see if it's possible to fit them back in somehow. I experimented with one other thing as well and would appreciate any feedback from anyone reading. What I did was make an alternative version of the rear engine assembly, primarily to incorporate the offset of the thruster, as well as the fender pieces that Inthert used to frame the rear of the engine shape. I am really torn as to which I should use. For the moment I reinstalled my original build, because I feel that the founder and sleeker shape is more important than having a really precise representation of he back and offset thrusters. Another thing I was unsatisfied with about the experimental version was the angular and squarish shape of the middle half pipe section. Like I said I think my original version has a better rounder shape, but I'm really torn. I would appreciate any opinions and feedback. Also since these photos were taken I filled the gap on the bottom with an angled 3x3 plate, so I have a complete hexagonal tube up to the front of the astromech socket now. Some photos:

New production run, new boxes -
You did a really excellent job then. It looks just like it came off a TLG sticker sheet. Those grey parts on the s-foils really add to the look of the ship's colours (it's a shame about the tan parts that Lego added on their original design though. Those bits are clearly supposed to be white!)

Haha, thank you for the compliments but it's not my work! I quoted Tyutyu's post. They really nailed the whole fuselage though, I agree with you. The cockpit especially looks great
-
That looks really nice, especially the stickers! Did you carefully cut off the red parts or did you print your own? I would really appreciate if you shared how you got such a great result, with those, I've been thinking of doing the same thing until a rerelease of 7661 comes out (probably not with the ring though)

Here you go, not great quality but it's as good as I could get. These are screenshots of paused video so not as good as the individual frames but it should do http://m.imgur.com/OS1Oc8k,s3y1ayl,hVnZqpR,vEwly33,74IDqSj,0YHPKiG

75173 is an interesting set- from what I can tell every minifigurr has already appeared in another set previously (even the 75052 cantina Luke with the new style face (75093) was combined and released in 75159 I think). Meaning that it has 0 new minifigures or different combinations of minifigure parts. When was the last time a set was released like this?
-
??? There have only been two iterations of obi-wan's red eta-2, I think the first one was very simple and came out in 2005 in a big set ( I believe was a pretty hard to find as well), and the first dedicated set for it came out only this year. If you mean lego's releases of eta-2s in general then sure, but almost every one is unique and you can still count the total number of them on two hands. In any case it's true that a new delta-7 from episode 2 is long overdue and it's fitting that another one is she scheduled for release in 2017.

Very nice renderings of some really complex shapes in a small scale. Well done, they look superb

Seconding the compliments for this set, although the minifigures are underwhelming and only make 4, the set itself is marvellous I think. The 'pill' assembly is one of the most solid things I've ever made, and the whole thing is very sturdy. No unnecessary play features and the spring shooters are easily removable. Sitting next to krennics shuttle landed, it dwarfs it really, and nearly weighs as much despite the 'small' number of pieces (543). This is quite misleading, there isn't much technic and most of the build is bricks and large plates so it's good value if you ignore the minifigures. Stickers aren't essential and only add detail which is exact,y what they should do. Nearly a perfect set, but that's because I'm a minifig snob and would have loved a couple of other imperials - an officer with a different rank than the usual 3 red 3 blue is more than welcome. It was delightful to build it and there are some very clever parts involved in the construction. Highly recommend it if anyone interested can find it for an acceptable price (I got mine for $76 aud) also, I should add that this is coming from someone who more often than not parts out sets without even building them once ,although I don't do that much with bigger sets. This is one that I will be clearing some shelf space for, it's just great.

Review | LEGO 75165 Star Wars ● IMPERIAL TROOPER BATTLE PACK
atlas replied to Brick Ministry's topic in LEGO Star Wars
Yes I can, they are 100% identical, exactly the same prints as previous sets with sw585 -
Brick built cockpits are best for most ships especially the more geometric and angular rebel ships. The X-wing cockpits that Lego has made are the best example of this, both of them are nowhere near close
