Somewhat similar in that I got out of my dark-ages when I got Vader's Tie Advanced and also the 2009 pirate ship Brickbeard's Bounty on clearance. I guess I've been fortunate in that a number of the sets people have mentioned they regret I have...I've become a hoarder of Lego I think...I've got like 70 something sets I haven't opened because I keep getting stuff on sale as well as not having the room to build them... Anyways, I guess one set I wish I got was the Grand Carousel. It ended production probably just as I got out of my dark age. I missed out on Taj Mahal and the Imperial Shuttle, both I was somewhat interested but at the moment I don't feel like it pains me though there's a chance in the future it will (particularly the Imperial Shuttle). Shrieking Shack from the Harry Potter line back back in the mid-to-late 2000s when I see pictures always seemed like a cool looking set, been interested to see how it's like.

Even though I'm not collecting the friends line, this set is quite impressive. Though I'm guessing this set is gonna be around $90 or more in Canada.

I'm completely uninformed about this nor am I an expert, but if they do, I'd imagine they'd sell the Architecture line version also. Wouldn't surprise me if they charge an additional premium on top of that.- 127 replies

Wow. OK, it's either I don't spend any money or I will go broke all at once. That's beautiful. This, along with the new X-Wing, and that Ewok Village will put me in huge debt. Of course...spending wisely, saving and slowly getting them is key...or somehow getting unlimited disposable income. All of my savings from work need to go to this one set alone basically if I want to get it.- 127 replies

Posted this in the discussion for the new Ewok Village but might as well ask here also: I'm considering saving up a bit above $300+ this summer from work to put aside specifically towards one exclusive I may actually pay full price. I was thinking possibly getting the 10212 Imperial Shuttle that just retired (I know of a store that still has it, albeit a fairly "slight" markup of the Canadian price; probably at most "for now" $350+tax) or the new 10236 Ewok Village. The Imperial Shuttle I know is retired and will only go up in price, but I've been teeter-tottering on getting this one for some time. When it was in production I wasn't sure because of its price plus the fact it was all white basically meant if I ever display it, it would turn yellow horribly. The new Ewok Village will be out not until September, but honestly it's a heck lot better than what I was expecting. It does have a horrible price but wow was I ever surprised by it; was actually considering getting it full priced soon after launch when I mistakenly read the price as $250 for Canada...quickly said no when it was $300 full price in Canada. It does have at least a year or 2 to be in production though. EDIT: Oh, and now that I've seen the review of the new large X-Wing which reminded me, add that set into the mix.

I like Star Wars but I'm not a nut of it or anything, and I've heard the rumour for this set for ages now...but seeing this, it's a lot better than what I was expecting Lego to produce. This is honestly one of the few times ever I've seen a set and feel like I would be willing to pay full-price (paying full price American doesn't count as it's cheaper than Canadian retail) and get it soon after it comes into production. EDIT: Wait...the Canadian price is $300?? OK I take that last line back. I thought it was $250 Canadian. Even then that's too pricy for me but it was just enough for me to consider for a while to get it at launch at full price. Alright, so I'm basically running out of room to either to buy or build & display sets so I'm going to be selling some of my brand new (unopened) sets on eBay (would also help to make some money back). It's been a LONG time since I last tried selling something on eBay so I need tips. I'm selling stuff ranging from exclusives to small little sets (that originally retailed at like $7-$10). I did a quick estimation on Canada Post, and shipping even something as small as like the 7638 Tow Truck will cost like $10. Is shipping at such a high cost just the reality or is there anyone I can lower the shipping a bit so that I don't scare off potential buyers? At the moment I'm thinking of selling within Canada and also the US, but I feel like that shipping fee is gonna scare off many. I'm most likely going to be using eBay as the site for me to sell on.

Gonna make a thread on this, but I'm also gonna ask here seeing as this is the Canadian thread. Another quick question...is the 10212 Imperial Shuttle considered out of production? I've been contemplating getting that set but it's quite pricy...plus the fact it's all white makes me fear that it will discolour. I feel like it'll be one of those sets I'll miss out on getting but regret later on.

Thanks Faefrost, I tend to just collect sets, build and then display. Play a little in the beginning but that's it.

Set #9450 Epic Dragon Battle from the Ninjago series...is that a good set for someone that normally does not collect Ninjago or that kind of theme? Wouldn't even consider it usually but I'm able to get it for like $70 which is almost half of Canadian retail. Still, $70 is quite a bit to be dropping on a set I wouldn't normally care about I feel...

Oh they did alright...even that one time back in 2010 when they accidentally put the UCS Millennium Falcon on 70% off (once in a lifetime price error on such an epic set); nothing like that will happen but there has been 20% off big sets in the past.
-
OK, so Chapters/Indigo in Canada has a sale which gets me a half-decent discount...and because of the way I'm buying the sets to get a maximum discount (doing multiple orders), I'm stuck between the 2 sets (whichever one I don't get during this sale, I'll get it another time): 60002 Fire Truck 60016 Tanker Truck I've ordered the other 2013 "Great Vehicle" sets, but one of these 2 sets I'll have to get later.

Next CUUSOO set: 21103 Back to the Futureâ„¢ Time Machine
Canada_7 replied to Blakstone's topic in LEGO Licensed
I hope whatever Lego does, it'll be true enough to whatever the original designers had initially made the set look like. Anyways, my dad was the one that got me to watch the BTTF trilogy when I was at around 12, when about 10 years ago they came out with the whole trilogy on DVD. I think I might buy one for myself and my dad whenever this comes out. -
When your friends are either aware (or not aware) that you're a bit of a Lego nut/fan, and they say "it'd be cool if they made that in Lego/as a Lego set" and your response is "Oh yeah, they have, I've got it already." (Also tells you that you've probably spent a little TOO much money on this hobby)

Lucky (or smart, depending on how you see it)... you got all of the modulars. I missed out on Cafe Corner and Market Street...got the other ones up to Town Hall (except Pet Shop, but at least that's still in production). Nice to see how things look with all of the modulars placed together.

I see...well I'm glad I grabbed my Falcon when I got the chance (at way below MSRP too), but I'm REALLY glad that this will give me a chance that I missed to prior to finally grab a UCS X-Wing. For those that are hoping for a similar thing with the Millenium Falcon, I hope that you guys get a similar chance too I guess.
-
YES...finally a UCS X-Wing I can actually somewhat afford. I was young when the first UCS X-Wing came out and I certainly would not pay the huge prices on eBay for one these days...this gives me a chance of getting a UCS X-Wing at a somewhat "respectable" price (in comparison to a really heavily bloated price). I'm a Star Wars noob and its sets in general with the theme, but I thought they don't remake UCS sets....does that mean the Millenium Falcon will be redone some day?

Good review. This set is a "must buy" for me since I missed out on the old cement mixer. I've been wanting to get the old one but this seems like a more than capable replacement.
-
Lawl...I saw that last year at Zellers and was tempted to get it with the 50% off coupon they had....ended up returning it even at $30. Talk about a WAY overpriced set.
-
Sent you a PM also...tempted to go make a visit at the Lego Store tomorrow.

Yeah...Yorkdale also rubs off on me as a jerk mall (for lack of better wording). Part of the reason I don't go there is that it's far for me, but also parking there is absolutely horrendous on a regular day...on Boxing day it's disgustingly bad (I realize it's Boxing day, but the crappiness of the parking situation there blows any other mall out of the water). BlogTO back in 2011 named it one of the worst parking lots in the whole city. It just also rubs off on me as the kind of mall that's filled with people with tons of money to burn who are also the snobby about it (not saying everyone is, but it gives me that vibe). Fairview is still the easiest drive for me considering where I normally live when I'm not at school is the Markham area. Sherway store I'd check maybe once in a while if I actually had a reason to be in that area but that's still a bit far of a drive.

People are bidding TOO HIGH on my Lego!
Canada_7 replied to Nintendawg's topic in General LEGO Discussion
That just the way the market is I guess, with the demand for that set. I guess people are just willing to pay that high of a price for the Minecraft set and value it to pay $160 (I wouldn't personally). Crazy profits for you I suppose. -
So both the 3677 Red Cargo Train and the 7939 Cargo Train are quite pricy in Canada but there's a small chance I may buy either at 30% off the Canadian retail price...if so which of the two should I get?
-
So the Maersk Train and Hayabusa sets...really tempted to get them but not sure...the Maersk train I like but I always though it was quite overpriced (yes I get it the licensing issue but still). I'm thinking it be better to get the Horizon Express instead of the Maersk Train but some input would be nice. The Hayabusalooks like a half decent display model.
