  1. I might just actually buy this at full retail price even if it is $130 Canadian (not that it's a very unreasonable price or anything, just that $130 in general is a lot of money). I REALLY liked the set the moment I saw the preliminary pictures. Like it more than the Beetle (which I missed out on). It's VERY high up my list of sets that I wanna buy.
  2. I currently have a chance for 30% off either set: 7208 Fire Station or 7498 Police Station?
  3. I can't really remember. I had a dry spell from probably around 2004 to around 2008. I don't think I purchased any sets at that time (or at least I can't remember). Then there were two sets, I can't remember which I purchased first; either 10175 Vader's TIE Advanced or 6243 Brickbeard's Bounty which I got both on sale. Vader's TIE Advanced was on sale on Lego's S@H while Brickbeard's Bounty was on clearance at my local Walmart. I wasn't particularly looking for either set but finding these two on sale made me motivated to try and look for more cheap Lego deals. The last 2 years I've bought a crapload of sets (well compared to some of you, it's nothing but it's still a lot). Some notable sets I have bought since (most, if not all were bought with some sort of discount); lots that I still haven't got around to building. List is in no particular order nor is it a complete list of all sets I have bought since then: Green Grocer Fire Brigade UCS Millennium Falcon (bought it ON SALE for less than $200 Canadian, no way I could pay full price for it) Hogwarts Express Emerald Night Medieval Market Village Winter Toy Shop Winter Village Bakery (or whatever it's called) One of each collectible minifigure from Series 1-4 Diagon Alley City Corner Shuttle Adventure[/url] That's definitely not a full list as there are still a lot of other sets I've bought but those are I guess the most "notable". This year, I also built my first Lego set from parts that were all ordered from Bricklink. I bought all the parts I needed for the 3723 Lego Mini-Figure. It's mostly done except for the arms, where I'm awaiting one last shipment with a few parts I need. Being able to build a set that I first saw back when I was 10 years old in 2000 and wanting it back then, and now seeing it all come together (well almost completely minus a few parts) is just awesome.
  4. I guess I'm not as crazy about minifigures than some people are. Me personally, after building the 10175 Vader's TIE Advanced I felt it lacking without an actual Darth Vader minifigure being inside the cockpit. Didn't feel like purposely buying a whole new set just so I could get Darth Vader so I went on eBay and just bought one. Was about $18 Canadian shipping included. Not really "a lot" but I would normally not purposely buy a minifigure separately like that.
  5. I was EXTREMELY fortunate and bought mine straight off of Lego S@H's Canadian website back around May 2010 for under $200 Canadian shipped to me. Lego was having some sort of Lego Star Wars sale (I think it was their annual sale from what it seems) and for us Canadians, instead of what I suspected was supposed to be 30% off for numerous products, they made it 70% off instead. Absolutely a HUGE price error. I read from others that it seemed that Lego did as much as they could and honoured up to 2 UCS Millennium Falcons per an order for as many people as they could. I've only opened the box just to see what was inside; everything else like the pieces itself are still in their bags, instruction booklet and sticker sheet are all untouched. The idea of selling it has crossed my mind a few times whenever people bring up how much I can fetch for this thing but I don't think I will. As a Lego fan, having this set is just unbelievable. I intend to build this thing when I get the chance...if I ever find the room to both build and display the thing.
  6. I want this set so that it can sit at the foot of my UCS Millennium Falcon (whenever I get around to building it; everything is still in it's original packaging) but that's a lot to pay...I've got other sets higher up in my priority list.
  7. I'd trade with you if I did have an extra Grand Carousel ....only thing I have available for trade is an extra Fire Brigade (which I know isn't a fair trade).
  8. I want that VW Van...it's better than the old VW Beetle (I know somewhere I can still buy it but for like $180; this one looks better anyway) and the truck in the Winter Village Post Office looks good from what I can see.
  9. Lego City has the most useless prisons ever .
  10. Damn...you must be loaded or have saved up a lot to get that.
  11. From what I have read about Transformers 3, Megatron's vehicle form has turned into a Mack truck this time around.
  12. I don't collect the Star Wars sets, but I do have the UCS Millennium Falcon still in it's packaging and not built yet. I do not have the 2004 version either. If I can get this set at a good price though I would definitely consider picking it up. It'll look good beside my UCS MF whenever I get around to building that one.
  13. No kidding...TRU in the USA right now has a BOGO 50% off ALL lego right now. That means that could work out to you could get any 2 of Grand Emporium, Fire Brigade, or Diagon Alley (plus a gift of the Creator Lighthouse polybag that they're running right now) for $242 already with tax in TOTAL (shipping is free also since it's over $100). I wanted to order them to some US depot storage in Niagara just across the border where they provide an US address to send your stuff and also hold onto and then pick it up some time later. Problem was that I hadn't set up a US address with the CC I was using (which I couldn't get done until the next business day, but this was at like 1am EST earlier today). By the time I could get it done, all 3 of those sets were gone.
  14. I didn't watch the video yet but the moment I read the title I was thinking the Grand Theft Auto series.
  15. Solscud007 or anyone else with a lot of Zombie minifigs should do a Left 4 Dead recreation
  16. I bought Mack's Team Truck a week or 2 ago and built it earlier this week; was not disappointed other than having a lot of stickers (but to be expected I guess, didn't stick them on so it looks slightly bare). When the pics came out, that was one of the sets I wanted in particular. Currently awaiting Flo's V8 Cafe from B&N and depending on Canada Post's strike, it will vary as to when that will come.
  17. I've got 2 orders from B&N and 1 from TRU that are shipping through Canada Post. I really hope they don't lose my stuff.. There were 3 total orders I made from TRU a few days ago. All were made on the same day, 2 were processed and shipped with Purolator which will likely be received tomorrow. However, there was one other order that they took longer to process but when they finally did process and ship, they chose to use Canada Post. With the strike looming possibly Thursday midnight, I really have to question their decision making here.
  18. For some reason, it comes off looking like a Porsche (possibly like the 911 from the 80s) to me instead of looking like McQueen. I'm tempted to make a purchase on the Ultimate Build sets but I'm holding off for now to prioritize other sets ahead of them. Something between the two make me think they look similar.
  19. So ToysRUs is having 20% off Lego Creator and some other discount for this week. The sale starts tomorrow/today (May 27th). Now, some of he bigger sets are listed as Creator on he TRU website. Stuff like Grand Emporium, Shuttle Adventure, Tower Bridge. Now they're slow in actually applying the discount on the website. The sale hasn't even been activated yet on their site but the Grand Emporium and Shuttle Adventure are already magically out of stock after 1 minute. Bullsh*t. I wish I had screencapped that. Don't have any shots of it in stock prior to 12 though but it was definitely in stock. Here's a shot of not too long after 12am EST...the discount hasn't even kicked in on the website yet somehow Grand Emporium and Shuttle Adventure are out of stock. Way to go TRU. **** you. EDIT: Surprise, suprise...now the sale has started and you can also add the Maersk Train to the list of OOS items PRIOR to the sale even starting.
  20. Yeah it's tough to take maximum advantage of those sales if there isn't a second set you like. Zellers' selection varies, depending on which you go to. There are some that have very little crap selection at all while some are pretty decent. I personally took advantage of the deal by buying 4183 The Mill and 8486 Mack's Team Truck, both of which regularly retail for $50. I had to go to multiple Zellers' locations before I finally found ONE location that had BOTH the POTC sets and Cars sets.
  21. Definitely. I own Brickbeard's Bounty and it's not as big as that. If anyone has the regular Brickbeard's Bounty in addition to QAR, could they please post a comparison pic? Due to B&N being annoying and once again canceling my order YET AGAIN, looks like I'll have to wait to get this set.
  22. This isn't a must want set for me nor is it actually that appealing to me but I might end up eventually getting one only because I missed out on the first one when it came out.
  23. Alright, thank you for spreading news of the sale and info anyway. I agree...I mean they can't be basing this just on the crowds they drew from the grand opening can they? It would be expected that the grand opening would draw big crowds. Of course, I wouldn't mind having one at Faarview though as it's a MUCH easier commute for me.
  24. I'm considering between 21005 Fallingwater or 21009 Farnsworth House. Not necssarily getting them immediately but just prioritizing them. I do realize that Fallingwater came out earlier than Farnsworth House. Which of the two would you guys prefer?
  25. The one issue I can think of may be licensing? Not sure if I'm right...but it's kinda like how we didn't get any sort of minifigure for Mr. Potatohead, Barbie, and Slinky Dog. I'm having trouble explaining my point here...but if my thinking is wrong, completely ignore me.
