Might be asking for a bit much here but any idea what the "select" sets are at the moment? It's a bit of a mission to get there for me. I guess I can wait until June 3rd-4th for a deal though...

I'm a fan of this set. Personally like the new Lighthouse better but this it's close. Good year in terms of Creator sets that I like, with the Log Cabin, the Lighthouse, and this Hillside House. Perhaps a re-creation of Left 4 Dead?

I liked this set when I started seeing the pictures of this set get leaked out. Now seeing multiple reviews I'm positive I want this set. As odd as it sounds, personally it seems this is one set where I would buy it full price and not feel like I got ripped off or paid too much.

What he said basically. Just a quick thing about Lasting Toys, they're good if you're looking for some of the older sets that have been discontinued. Of course, don't expect to be paying cheap though. There's a bit of a markup on the discontinued/rare sets (will depend on the rarity and how long it's been discontinued) but that's to be expected. It's where I got 7991 Recycle Truck last year. I'll probably end up going there again to get some other older city sets that I missed out on from a few years ago.

So did anyone go? I thought about it a few hrs ago but couldnt get myself to wake up....I mean its just 3 minifigures so I couldn't convince myself to wake-up for it since I slept late last night.

Knew I forgot to check something...I did see there was the pick-a-brick wall but I completely did not look at what kind of pieces they had. Should have known being on this site I would be asked that, my bad . The only thing I could really say is that to no surprise, each of the containers they had was full as the store had just recently opened. Sorry, was just sort of in awe seeing some of the other sets actually built and in person.

So I went to Sherway Gardens earlier today and the new Lego store IS OPEN. I asked a CSR when did they open up, he said that originally the soft opening was gonna wait until Wednesday, but they finished things up early so they opened up their doors sometime Tuesday afternoon. Tomorrow (Friday) is the beginning of their grand opening stuff. Today was the first time I was ever in an "official" Lego store. It's not a big store but to see all these sets was just quite a sight. They had a number of the big sets that they had built and were on display. It was cool to see sets like Tower Bridge, Death Star, Grand Emporium, Medieval Market Village, and Shuttle Adventure in person and already built. Yes, the new modular building Pet Shop is also available for sale. I was super tempted just to buy things even if they were full price just because of the availability. Held myself back...might be going to New York or somewhere in the US to do some shopping so I told myself wait until you get a chance to buy the sets cheaper over there.

If you are wondering, the new Lego store at Sherway Gardens in Toronto has this set in stock.

I have an admiration of just vehicles in general. Most cars or things with wheels tend to amuse me . When I get the chance I will watch the movie so I know the background of the characters and such. I have been told it's an alright movie.

Are you talking about THIS set? I asked in another thread how far back Lego stores went back for holding onto sets and I was told they only have what's available in the regular Lego catelogue, nothing as old as that. There's a possibility I could be going to the US in early June and I have a HUGE list of Lego sets I want to get there. Problem is I won't be staying long enough that I can get all of them without going over the limit without having to pay duty for bringing it back to Canada (nor can I probably afford to spend such a huge amount of money all at once). Gonna have to prioritize which sets I want most and the cost too. Damnit Lego...

The generic smile for the HP and Hangover 2 posters are making me crack up. Thanks for the link.

I'll be aiming to get Flo's V8 Cafe since it has a lot of the major characters in it by the looks of it (never watched the first Cars movie so I'm not sure if I'm correct with that statement). Can anyone direct me back to the post that has the prices for the sets again?

Place the head on the Hazmat guy and you can fulfil the description Lego gives for that figure . In the official bio for that guy they say it's a rumour that the character has two faces

Tempted to pick this set up right away but will do the smart route and get the Grand Emporium prior to this. Of course when they go on sale that is. I have the Green Grocer and Fire Brigade but still haven't gotten around to building them yet.

General Pirates of the Caribbean Theme Discussion Thread
Canada_7 replied to Oswald the Rabbit's topic in LEGO Pirates
Bull****. I had originally preordered 2 sets from Barnes & Nobile online and I just received an email telling me they cancelled my order. I'm pissed not only because of that, but I originally had a Groupon that was "$20 GC for the price of $10" that has now effectively expired while waiting for them to process the order. Freaking stupid. I was awaiting Queen Anne's Revenge and The Mill. Lame. -
Bump, I got another question for those that have been to Official Lego Stores...do they carry any older sets? And if they do how old? For example, would I be able to find the following City sets from 2007 in those stores? 7990 Cement Mixer 7993 Service Station 7733 Truck & Forklift Doesn't have to be these particular sets but just wondering in general how far back do they go?

That looks awesome...a long wait but finally pictures.

I haven't checked the B&N website yet but the preorders I had for 2 of the sets are now currently delayed. -
That will be the same Friday that the grand opening was supposed to be if I remember correctly. Does that mean the grand opening will be pushed back?

[Review] 8099 Midi-scale Imperial Star Destroyer
Canada_7 replied to Brickdoctor's topic in LEGO Star Wars
Just a quick bump regarding this set. Not really a Star Wars guy here and had no intention of buying this set but I it on clearance for $15 a few months ago so I picked it up then. I didn't get around to building it until today. Nice review but there's one thing I disagree with. The part about the ship being sturdy or something along those lines...maybe I just don't have something aligned properly but I feel it's quite flimsy and for a while it was falling apart when I tried to pick it up to move it. I've fixed whatever that was causing it but still it feels like it could fall apart easily. -
Just wondering, can you take a picture to compare between Brickbeard's Bounty and the Queen Anne?

I had the first Lego Racers on PC and back then I found it tough. I remember the powerups like the turbo boost, cannon shot, some sort of trap thing (oil slick, dropping a barrel of explosives, and then some sort of trap thing where it would make whoever drove through the trap with backwards handling), and shield. Did end up beating it though. I don't know where the disc is currently. The second one I never did play. Speaking of old Lego PC games...did anyone play Lego Island 1 or 2? I had Lego Island 2 but never beat that...never even completed the chase for the Brickster...

This was the other POTC set I preordered other than QAR. Other than the QAR I was trying to decide between this set and London Escape as to which one I should get; ended up choosing The Mill over London Escape because it was a bit cheaper and something about it with the wheel made it more appealing over the latter. Yes it does look on the small side but after looking at the reviews between this and London Escape, I think I made the correct decision to go with this set.

Great review. I agree with you, I don't own this set or the new 3368 Space Center set but I would definitely choose this older one for sure. Part of it is the retro factor (I agree I do like the older sets quite a bit, don't have many of them but I've seen enough of it) but I also like the look of it better than the newer one.
-
Is there any chance anyone can post a comparison picture between the QAR and Brickbeard's Bounty? I'm not usually a Pirates guy but BB is the only pirate set I have, just wanted to see how the 2 ships compared in size.
