There can be big difference. I normally fill one small cup up and then restack those contents into a different cup. I did this with the 1x2 lavender plates recently at the store and could get approximately 1.5 times as much in the cup (I use small cups) by connecting them together into a big block. The 1x1 travis brick (connectors on every side) on the other hand I did connect into columns and fitted the columns in neatly but when I got home and tested it the amount more that I managed to fit in the cup was about 20 bricks, fairly negligible for the time spent!

Heroica RPG 2nd Anniversary Building Contest Winners!
Cara replied to Dragonator's topic in The Heroica Archive
Congratulations! There were some gorgeous builds. -
The problem is that they will sell out of it, and it will seem like it never happened. While I was there a lady was choosing multiple large cups of items and finally went for 12+ boxes instead! So you might get lucky one Monday or Tuesday but if you go two weeks after that and they haven't had a shipment, you'ld think Lego never sent them anything as the wall will be empty of anything interesting.

This week saw the Santa Clara store get so much I couldn't reach the pick-a-brick cups! Good job I brought my own to reuse. Found the black travis brick, the 1x2 trans blue tile (came home with maybe a few too many) and picked up some extra gold cones. Now its waiting for that masonry brick to make it over here! Maybe in a few months given the delay on the other new stock. I didn't see any more of the 1x1 round lbg tile on the wall. Though it might of been in one of the unlabeled boxes.

I like these guys. They really make me realize I NEED more of those shields as they scream Mitgardia. I like the third party pieces (when I often find them a bit jarring). Here they mesh really well, especially the antler and horn. I look forward to seeing you use them in a future MOC.

Eubric Freeport by Emma - I love what was captured of the essence of the town Fortaan Abyss by MstrOfPppts - this reminded me so much of a d&d adventure, I liked the flow of the rock arch over and the staircase down. -

I'm looking forward to reading it and seeing other peoples builds, hopefully something with a long deadline (but definitely not due near thanksgiving week). Or *gasp* something that requires us to build small - yes possibly impossible for a lot of us. -
Contest Contest: Pimp My Camper! Comments Thread
Cara replied to Rufus's topic in Special LEGO Themes
Certain Star wars vehicles immediately come to mind because the shapes are so similar. If you thought about it, build it. This competition is great because it doesn't require a mass of bricsk, just a good idea well executed. And it will be that execution and how people empathise with the build that matters. -
Heroica RPG 2nd Anniversary Building Contest - Rules and Discussion

Thank you! Was just changing thread to post my entry was up. Reading the quests that take place in Xu or touch upon the great airships had me wondering how they could be powered. Someone's dialog (and I WISH I could find it again to reference) made a reference to a windmill in Xu technology and everything clicked! Full size versions are up on my flickr page. -
Heroica RPG 2nd Anniversary Building Contest - Entry Thread

Etheric Windmill, Xu Peninsular Have you ever wondered how the great airships of Xu are powered? I recently had the opportunity to travel with a supply train travelling through a mountainous region of the Xu peninsular and found out first-hand for myself! High in the peaks stand beautiful windmills that harness etheric energy into a form of liquid silver fuel for the great airships. The energy can only be captured using the diaphanous wings of the giant dragonfly. They are apparently caught by the windmill's caretakers (for extra cash) and transported to a hatchery where they grow until they reach adulthood. Their wings are then harvested and turned into the sails for these chain of windmills that dot the mountains. Thank you Waterbrick Down for pointing out the three quests that dealt with Xu and their technology. -

Im trying to convert this into my time zone: Entries must be posted by midnight UTC on Sunday September 8th. Voting will then occur in the week that follows. Does to mean end of Saturday, beginning of Sunday. Or is it end of Sunday beginning of Monday. Thank you! -
My family bought me a quarter of cola pips (hard round candy). I had them on my desk during one Historica build, unfortunately I was also using a bag of 1x1 round plates at the time too. Somewhere along the line there was a disconnect between my muscle memory and what my brain told my hand to pick up.

They are reusable cups, I reused the massively long strips of tape too!

All those delicious colours and pieces that have been in Europe, they are arriving over in the US!!! They weren't even on the wall yet, I asked for a few I remembered and they pulled them from the back. From the Santa Clara store: 1x1 round tile lbg olive green cheese slope 1x2 tile light pink 1x1 round plate light pink and dark purple 2x2 round brick with grill side, white 1x2 plate lavender cone pearl gold 1x2 grill pearl gold no omnidirectional travis brick or 1x2 trans medium blue tiles yet but lets hope!

What Collectible MiniFig Is Your Favorite Army Builder?
Cara replied to Mr. Elijah Timms's topic in Special LEGO Themes
To date it's been the Spartan, Elf and Forest maiden I would snap up Haltiamieli's suggestion of a minstrel/sorceress but not in army building quantities so for the purpose of unable to stop buying it definitely has to be a goblin/orc, I love the fantasy era goblins and all of the LoTR creatures. Since I cant imagine them making a licensed theme character even in altered form in to a CMF, they should really re-do the fantasy era one as a CMF. But NOT in a cute way. The cyclops and yeti while whimsical are of no use to me because they are too cute. I'm thinking more keeping in style with the minotaur. That would leave me eating ramen in no time More elfs and zombies would also do it.- 65 replies

Grats on the title SK! And I'm liking that waterfall, look forward to seeing the big pics. -
ooh 1x1 round tiles came to Canada? Grr my US store says neither those nor the olive green cheese are on their list of things they can order. Here's hoping they make it since I've only seen them across the pond so far.

So beautiful!

This is really great I'm not normally a fan of massive of texture plus multiple colours in the castle walls but this absolutely works wonderfully. I think its the otherwise clean lines and not too many competing colours in the MOC. I love the scaffolding, perfect amount on detailing on the floor and the icy river.

You should try the De Anza flea market. There are two dealers there each month that I visit. And I can guarantee that I've seen those pieces frequently.

REVIEW: 71002 LEGO Collectable Minifigures Series 11
Cara replied to WhiteFang's topic in Special LEGO Themes
More and more I'm finding myself asking, do I really want to pay $3 just for that (insert single hat/animal/utensil) because the figure itself isn't that great but one item of it can be. This series is a mix bag, about half are outstanding and half I don't want but there is very little middle ground, which is a first for me. My favourites are the Tiki warrior, holiday elf, scarecrow and bobby. The Bavarian girl is nice but I could have wished for a flagon or other drink cup in her hand and I personally abhor the fabric skirts. A few others have interesting new parts but aren't of use to me. The distribution, urg what's there to add. Nothing but I'll say it anyway - go back three sets per box!!!! This had something to do with being able to package half boxes though didn't it? So doubt we will see a change. Great review as always though I find them really helpful and love seeing the characters a month or two before they become available.- 117 replies
