  1. I actually borrowed the desk concept from BrickOn's Scribe of Arlinsport. Though I did do some alterations to make it fit my own usage and give it a little flair with the gold round plates on the legs. The coat tree kept trying to fall over. It would work better with a 2x2 plate with one stud rather than the 1x2 I used. I just didn't have a brown 2x2. The antlers are from Brick Warriors. I received them as a present this last Christmas. The goal is to someday brick build a hopefully realistic deer, elk, red stag, moose, or etc. with them. Thank you very much for the compliments. I am definitely seeing the improvement in my building and photographing of builds. I owe the improvement to all of you who give me ideas with your builds and give me pointers on my own. I look forward to seeing how I continue to improve. I appreciate the compliments. I will say about that Ranch MOC that I was disappointed that no one saw the rider got bucked off. Each photo the horse and rider are in a different position as he attempts to break it in. However, the horse wins as the last photos shows he was bucked off and lying in the dust. Thank you. I was trying to figure out how to keep the walls from being bland, and I had a half torn apart set sitting in front of me with the brown windowsill pieces. I decided to give it a try. I didn't have enough of the brown so I had to add some of the green. I thought it turned out pretty well. I left the lawyer back in Belson. I don't want them messing up the New Islands. ;)
  2. The lady in black was supposed to be the widow and mother of the 3 children, Sarah. I realized two things on this build. First, I lack very many ladies dresses. I had another nice black torso but no black skirt to pair it with. Second, I don't have any gray ladies hair and only one gray hair for a man. I should have bought Santa's workshop two Christmases ago... I was very pleased with the posing of the figures and how they turned out when photographed. Sometimes I get done taking pictures and realize I didn't capture the idea I was going for with the posing. This one definitely worked better. The casket was one of the longest parts of this build as I didn't want it too large but neither did I want it looking too plain. I am glad people enjoyed it after it turned out what I think was pretty well. Thanks for the comments so far. Keep the compliments coming as well as any critiques and pointers on how I can improve.
  3. Congratulations to all the winners and all the participants! I loved the builds.
  4. Micah arrived at the family estate in Wolfhaven a week after the funeral. It was good to spend time with the family. However, there was also the business of settling the estate and his father's will. A week later on the third of April, the family made a trip to the office of Lord Mark Crawford, Esq. There the official last will and testament would be read and any details would be settled. The reading of the will was an emotional time for all. However, the estate was divided much like it had been expected. Alexander II received the main estates in Wolfhaven and the banked money with the commission that he would look after their mother during her widowhood. Rebekah was willed a small hunting property north of Belson. Micah was willed all the horse business including all the ranches, offices, and blacksmith shops. Now that Micah was the owner of the business he had been managing and learning for the last several years, he has decided to create a new company. This company would be a partnership between him and his expedition partners. This would enable them fund their expeditions using the businesses they already have and all the income they would earn in the future. He asked Lord Crawford to draw up a business contract that his partners could examine and sign back in Arlinsport. The name picked for this new company was Wolf's Equine, Trading, and Expedition Company. Here is the backstory. Critique and compliments are welcome.
  5. This is an excellent pig farm. Their very muddy pen is quite realistic. All the other details like the grass, chickens, little house with tools and supplies laying nearby, really make this build stunning. What are the hands in the crate supposed to be? Feed? One of my first jobs was working on a pig farm. I can smell it right now...
  6. The upgrade made this ship look awesome. I hope to see her sail many more voyages.
  7. There is so much going for this build but the two layers is the best part. The crane and the workman's lamp are both excellent details that make it come alive.

  9. Micah would be unable to arrive in Wolfhaven where he had grown up in time for the funeral of his father. The letter from Lord Mark Crawford, Esq. did not arrive in Alrinsport until four days after the funeral was held. His parents had been given a large amount of land in the Wolfhaven region of the country by King Arlin II in honor of Alexander's service during the 49 Year War. The region lay to the west of Belson. Micah had not been home for the last several months as his new adventures were keeping him busy in the islands to the east. His father's passing was quite unexpected even though he was well along in years. The funeral was attended by many of the local governmental officials, as well as military commanders who had served with Lord Alexander. They all gathered to say their last goodbyes. His widow, Sarah, and eldest son, Alexander II, made sure to greet everyone who attended, thanking them for their well wishes. His daughter, Rebekah, and her husband, Simon, were also present and mingling among the guests. Once everyone had arrived the family sat to the side of the casket, while the guests sat in front. The casket was closed and guests were allowed to speak on the late Lord Alexander as well as place flowers and mementos upon the casket. The family lined up in front of the family crypt that Alexander had built. Then the guests also lined up to pay their final respects. The soldiers then fired off a salute in his honor. If you want to catch up or review the backstory read here. Another shot of the funeral: SAM_7345
  10. Very nice little ship. Welcome to BOBS! I look forward to seeing more of your builds.
  11. The white and yellow turned out superbly! This build has excellent eye appeal. I also like the fence and gate. I will probably use the concepts in my own later builds.
  12. I like the fort and the extensive details put into it. It definitely could be well defended from any angle. I also enjoy that the vikings have not been forgotten. I am sure they could be some fierce warriors!
  13. Dear Mr. Coyle, As the merchant representative of the newly reorganized Wolf's Equine, Trading, and Expedition Company, I would like to kindly request the inclusion of our two vessels among the Corrington trade convoys. The "Flying Colt" would prefer to sail with the Quick Wing convoy, and the "Alexander" would prefer the Fire Trader convoy for this month. Yours truly, Mr. Arthur Kellog Wolf's Equine, Trading, and Expedition Company
  14. "DISCOVERY: Queen’s Decree of 615AE – 10 Gold medals will be struck in honor of any citizen who completes a voyage of discovery. (EGS award = 5DBs from the Corrington coffers)" What is a voyage of discovery? At first I thought it was part of challenge 1 and 2 but I nowhere was that connection made. Is it part of the MRCA that hadn't been released?
  15. I very much agree with the sentiment Ska has presented here. I want to improve my abilities as a builder but I don't have the resources or desire to only produce masterpieces. I enjoy the stories AND the actual process of building. I hope that I am improving but I know if there had been a minimum level of quality I probably would have never joined BOBS. I think the problem with restarting the MRCA at the same place where you ended is that it does not allow you to use your ships in any storyline between the MRCAs. It seems logical that they would be used more than just during a trade run each month.
  16. We are allowed 5 ships that are not MOC. Since I did a MOC for Whisper, another ship could take the place in the 5. Lover's Quarrel being our only remaining 4A is the logical choice.
  17. Are approvals needed anymore? Well I still approve and I am from Corrington. I do really enjoy that the scene pulled off the market place with all of its hustle and bustle. Is this an outdoor market? If so I would have liked to see more changes in the cobblestone as it looks too perfect. That is the only thing I see that could change.

  19. I wouldn't mind if people wanted to create an index of their builds. I knew it would probably get buried fast so I just intended on editing it and linking it back to myself. However, since people need to keep track of minifigures used now, this might be a preferential idea to have a thread with links.
  20. Here are some pictures of the bow and the stern. SAM_7312 SAM_7313 by Micah Van Gorp, on Flickr SAM_7320 by Micah Van Gorp, on Flickr I had looked at your post to see what you had said prior to posting my own. My side character had been named William in the intro but I never gave him a last name. I didn't even realize I chose the same last name until I read your post. Oops! Apparently I was recalling it subconsciously. Sorry about that.

  22. To the backstories Captain William Chase, of the Wolf's Expedition company, has recently been promoted to Captain in Her Majesties Royal Navy. The Expedition was offered an incentive should they help refit one of the recently captured pirate ships. They immediately took the opportunity and used their treasure gold (that no one really knew about) to oversea the refitting of the ship. It is now embarking on its first escorted trade run under Her Majesty's colors. They were also given a Captain's commission to grant to whomever they placed in command of the ship. After only a brief discussion the partners agreed that the commission must be given to William Chase. Here he stands talking to the Sergeant of the Marines on board, James Addison, and behind him stands his second-in-command, Harold Ashley. Though no one has said it aloud all on board wish to meet some pirates on this journey that they might engage in some real action. SAM_7292 SAM_7284 SAM_7287 The cabin boys might be taking it a little too easy. SAM_7293 The Marines are busy making sure they are prepared for any battle. (They also need to dust off their helmets apparently.) SAM_7294 SAM_7298 I need to take some better pictures of the bow and the stern. I will upload those when I have them.
  23. She is finished now. I will take pictures in the morning when I have good lighting, and load it immediately after. I may even type it up tonight so it is ready when the pictures are.
