free lego??? count me in on this!
-
Someone from TLC told me that it was due to changing the production method and/ or place of production. Also they needed to improve quality of fading-out colours (like light grey). It's been a while but I remember I was told something like this. It was really an economical decision. Whatever, we both might be right in one or another way. I for my part can say that after having some troubles adapting to the change I simply love the newer colours and newer minifigs. Also I love the detail in the SW, Batman and Indy themes since some years.

Come on, dp - you know there is a difference! What about making a Clone Wars tank and the german tank from Indy3? You see? There is a difference.. About the pictures: funny! Lando with wool hat in Creator, Obi Wan with Naboo torso in Indiana Jones...

I am not here to criticize you, but didn't you just say that it is "a very fine letter"? Didn't get that. And: no intention of any critic! To the letter: I disagree with a lot (perhaps most) of your opinion. I don't want to point out each detail of it, but TLC had good half year results, people in this forum are overall quite happy with the work of TLC and everyone has quite a positive feeling about next year. If you personally don't accept the newer sets, just stick with the older, no?

I am also happy about the good sales but especially that Indy did well! They put so much effort in this line (vehicles so beautiful, minifigs simply perfect, artworks really nice) and I was afraid sales didn't went that good (but I'm in europe, so it was my limited view). So I hope that rumors about 2 new sets in january were just rumors and we get more than that?! Oh and give us some nice new minifigs, TLC!

Travellers Tales is working on 2 new games, both about a brand of Warner Bros. We can only guess if it is about A. a licence that TLC made in the past (Speed RAcer, Harry Potter, Spiderman), B. a brand that TLC made no toys for (I doubt it... Matrix anyone?) or C. a new licence (there were rumors about a new licence. The Hobbit?). We will see.....

Thanks a lot for a very nice and entertaining review! Your photos were really nice and there have been some reviews lately that have such blurry pics... cough.. cough... it was a pleasure to see you can 1. put lego bricks together 2. write a review 3. handle your camera! I think this ship is underrated, it is really nice! I love the playing features like landing gear and back door, perhaps just cause I had to get along with so called landing gears in the past, that did not work at all (7140 for example..). And I simply LOVE that there is space inside. You said there is not really some cause of the landing gear mechanism, but it seems it should be easily fixed. Do you think there is enough space to put some plates over the landing gear and add some beds, kitchen und TV? I think this set is so perfect to mod it into a Clone Wars mobile home, your back garden ist just perfect for this. I prefer this over the AT-TE and over a 2nd gunship! Thanks a lot for the review!

The only reason to stop it could be that it got too violent in making official soldier minifigs. Did some of you guys ever heard about complaints against it? I mean, organized ones or so? I didn't. I guess someone just wanted us to be scared with this rumor, nothing else. We got the rumor of SW and Indy sets earlier as well as the inofficial statement about continuing the line and I hope to see some pictures soon. Oh and I am with everyone els when it is about dancing polka on the moon!

(guess it is the first time I post but I read all your stories) I really like what you are doing, especially the character creation and how you mix so many different themes toegther: Wild West, Indiana Jones, Castle etc etc. I cannot really mix my stuff, it always feels strange. But in your comic it works very well! I hope you will use another fleshy head, I just love them.. perhaps another pale character living where no sun is shining? Also I must add that I like most of your influences, how you develope dramaturgy for example. It is obvious you played at least one japanese RPG, didn't you? I wonder what is going to happen to the princess and her fellows and I can only tell you to keep up the good work!

didn't know that Lego Agents will be a Warner Bros. movie! About Clone Wars - I really didn't know, thought it will be 20th Century like all the other movies.. it could be a chance, but coming way too late. But there were also rumors about a new licence Lego is going to make, legomilk told us the rumor about Jurassic Park - but that's Universal, right? So if TT doesn't speak about which brand exactly from Warner, there are rumors about a new licence from TLC coming next year... 1+1= ??
-
Sorry, I don't buy it. I don't know where you got your information from, you were talking about your uncle once, then about a shop assistant. There are lots of rumors on the net about sets coming. You can call me a fool IF you are right. Also when your info about SW is right, you can. But today I doubt information from a completely new member, sorry... no offense.

Hi there! After LEGO Star Wars, Indiana Jones and Batman, game developer Traveller's Tales is working on two new LEGO games. According to an interview on Variety with TT's Jon Burton they are based on brands belonging to Warners Bros., though he didn't speak about which. Great news I guess, even if the gameplay gets a tad repetitive in my opinion. So, Warner... what could that be? Harry Potter?? Long after TLC canceled the line?

Wow, it looks really sweet! I was also expecting something completely different! Guess they will take 450 Euro from us for this set. So far the mixture of the parts seems really interesting! While the Eiffel Tour was so interesting for the only grey parts and not too many different, here we get an interesting variety of parts and colours. Also the "architecture" or construction seems interesting. I wonder how big it is, and how heavy... Taj on! BORT!

Thanks a lot for the intel - can you say you are sure they were Magna Guards? Or is it possible these were the blue super battle droids? thanks!

we will call them overnext-gen consoles.. I think it is highly unlikely we will get it, we should have heard something of it so far. I mean, we know about Batman for how long now? 2 years? And still don't have the game... Also it is not enough for one game, just a cartoon movie that will not make too much money I assume. Not as much as Disney or Pixar movies, also it looks pretty boring, nerdy, plain and has a bad and lazy style. They made 3 movies into 1 game and it worked, I think it will not work with this one, except they would make it a downloadable game for PS3 and 360 or make it for the easy to program-systems (DS and PS2) for 20 euro. Just my 2 cent. Would I like to see it? Yes. Would I buy it? YEP!

I was not too much into the newer SW Episodes, just have some small sets. But the new EpI sets were really sweet designed and I guess I will get the N-1 and perhaps Sith Infiltrator when 50% off. Clone Wars? What is that actually? I never heard anything of it and tried to gather some info from the internet (still I cannot say what the difference between the tv show and the movie is about ) BUT I did that not cause I am anyhow interested in Alternate Universe. Not at all. I just buy the rebel speeder and dropship for the minifigs and don't care at all for the vehicles. I DID it cause I thought the CW sets are really really well designed and have really nice features! They are overpriced of course, but I guess I can get them 30% off. I guess I will get the RGS (hopefully some BPs in january, now it would be rather empty) and - don't get mad - the Twilight. The latter is sweet and I love ships with enough room inside, freighters like the Falcon (and this one seems much more stable). You can put stuff and armys and whatever inside and you can PLAY so much better than with a ship that hold just 1 minifig (Rogue Shadow ). I still have no clue how the new ships will get along with my OT-almost-only collection, but they will find a way!
-
But it is useless in the case of the shanghai chase to have only room for one minifig. Everyone knows there was a girl and a boy with Indy.. I wouldn't wonder if TLC cuts one of them (they make these strange decisions sometimes) but not 2 of 3. For the chasing car it could be a one seater, with someone standing on the side. For Indys car I think about the 5-wide car piece from the adventurers line in the back and one seat for Willy in the front. Just my thoughts. Looking forward to Lao Ches face!

Interesting news, and I always gave a lot about the rumors from legomilk! The Spielberg-connection could be it, the older movies could make some nice sets as well, kids love dinosaurs, JP3 earned 180 Mio in the US. But if I remember it right the JP3 sets didn't sell, the last dino line didn't sell too well and I wonder if TLC throws out the money they made from Star Wars and lovely sets for just other licences, expansive and very risky. Or.... do they still have the licence? Could be.. Am I interested? Not in Dinosaurs, definetely. And not in another licence to collect. SW, Indy, Batman, Spiderman, Harry Potter, Spongebob, Avatar... it is enough. But interested in new fleshy heads for my SW rebel army I am! In new parts! And in nice big trees.

Is it OK to mix dark skinned mini-figures with yellow mini-figures?
Zzz replied to Mister Phes's topic in LEGO Pirates
When I was a kid I never thought about different races, they were yellow lego people from no specific country, basta. And yes I had pirates, lots of them, but to be honest I never thought that the imperial troops might be english or spanish or whatever. It was all lego. Now things changed a lot. I have a really big problem with the licenced minifigs, in my opinion it looks terrible to mix yellow and light flesh. ( I am just glad Indiana Jones and Batman started with the latter and will hopefully not change it's colour! ) So my plan is to get rid of the yellow minifigs, sort them out once they are available in light flesh to have some common style. This is only about Star Wars though, my classic themes like city and pirated will never meet anyone with light flesh colour! Well and Lando is Lando. Like in the movie, all the trouble started with him. No, to be honest I would always mix yellow with dark flesh aka Lando head (I really only have his head, there are not too many around besides him.) I would always mix light flesh and dark flesh, of course. But yellow and light flesh?? NO WAY!! Looks horrible.. -
I wonder which set will become our favorite set of 2008.. Green Grocer, Death Star..? And well, this might not be the perfectly right place to ask, but I wasn't able to find a thread and didn't want to open a new one... Did we actually vote for the best set last year? I remember Sail Barge won in 2006, but last year....? 10179? Did I miss something?

well, I can only speak for Italy and germany, but here I don't think they are anyhow as popular as others. In Italy you were always able to find TIEs, even older sets in toystores, but never Snowspeeders or X-Wings or others. For germany, they always had the highest discounts at Karstadt, amazon or others. But not for weeks but for months. Just examples, of course. I noticed that batman sets are not too unpopular in the UK, but on the mainland of europe you were able to get most of the sets for 50% off at a certain point, and even then they were not selling to well (can speak of Italy, germany, austria, france). I cannot speak about everywhere, especially not about UK too well, but here I got the impression about the TIEs. So, perhaps just my limited point of view or my experience, but I really doubt that sets without heroes sell the same way as sets with them. You have a very different approach to them I think. They sell good enough to cover the costs, to make money - sure! But I think the aren't the cash cows of the line.
-
I highly doubt these rumors.. TIEs don't sell very well, they're not at all connected (except Vaders TIE) to the characters (and so minifigs) that kind of run the line somehow. I understand that TLC focuses on the Clone Wars, in one year no one knows anymore what it was. But I really think there'll be other OT sets, perhaps like a Landspeeder or so. Something that provides my theory mentioned above. There are also things they never did, like Shuttle Tyridium, Endor Bunker, Sandpeople with their strange animals or Rebel Transport. And now that we get an Imperial playset, why not a Massassi Outpost? Just an idea. But whatever. Since I really think the rumors about the CW sets are in the direction of TLCs strategy, maybe the other (OT) part might be true as well. We will see.

that was my first one. I am pretty sure about it. My sister had some Fabuland earlier and I got the Fabuland Postman Boris Bulldog also quite early, but I really think this was my very first one. I still have the manual somewhere, and I can recollect the feeling of playing with it, the sound the pieces made, the boxy ambulance made with the loose stretcher and girl inside, the tires made... like it was yesterday. No joke.

Quite some time ago, when I was like 12 or 13, a lovely girl from my class visited me at home. I liked her, she liked me. Until she saw Lego in my room. It ended up that she told all the other girls in my class, they were making fun of me calling me immature and whatever. She had a boyfriend 4 years older a bit later. Now, grown up, I had a couple of really gorgeous girlfriends, who always loved me for being me, not trying to be someone who fits into. They supported me as well as my friends, were interested, gave me Lego sets for birthday, xmas or whenever, they actually built it with me. And whenever I take a date home in these days, they tell me how sweet my SW minifig collection in the bookshelf is, they start playing with it or they beg me to open one of the misb-sets or whatever. There was a photo model I learned to know, 34 years old, drooling at my lego minifigs. It was easy to notice how bored she was of the Porsche drivers who try to be someone they're not. All my friends know about it, and I never heard one false word. The opposite: lots of them have minifig keychains or fridge magnets now. Hope you got my point.

It is a bit harsh to speak about "business as usual", but that's it, nothing else. We had it with the castle minifigs and the Indiana Jones minifigs in the last time. Always SW in the past, Batman also. Minifigs most often, sometimes sets. But it was always like this, some people from shops, fairs or whatever. I don't care. The only thing disturbing is that he or she is selling "Ogi-Wan Kemobi". Guess we have a HUGE Star Wars fan here. EDIT: The set is already available in the US, didn't know. So you are talking about the price I asume. Well, someone is going to pay it anyway. Or not perhaps.
