  1. thanks a lot for the revies, good pics and demonstration of the playability! I must admid, the missile things sound like a LOT of fun, but I once again I understand something completely different under the term "shuttle", not one minifig stuck in 4 empty studs somewhere in a ship.... I just hope that if they ever try a good Tyridium Shuttle, it will be worth the term! What about the "pirate shuttle" or "seperatist shuttle" coming out later this year anyway? I tried to find them on the net, how they might look alike but didn't find aynthing at all.. Anyone....??
  2. ... where are these blue guys coming from? They look like a joke, not like soldiers! Is it really like this in the movie/ tv show? Anyway, if this is real and will cost 180€, they better have a wonderful and detailed interior inside, not like the SD! But I really don't think it is real, it looks to self-made. .. cough...
  3. Rated "O" for Outstanding. Very sleek, sweet and has a good military look. Good ol' times when a small fighter still costed 15€ (Anakins Fighter now... cough cough..). We will see if we get a new one this year, even if it is strange to get this and not the more remarkable Landspeeder or so..
  4. "You will go to the Dagobah System." Ghostly-Wan Kenobi for me!
  5. Thanks for the review and the new pictures!! Compared to Anakins it looks better, guess it comes from the white/red combo, what just looks lovely.. For 50% off I will consider it, but otheriwse it is way too expensive. Anakins was already 10€ too much..
  6. Welcome to EB! A lot of the sets aimed at older fans don't have any play value, simply cause most grownups don't play with it. So the build itself and how it looks afterwards in your living room counts, like the Star Wars UCS sets (Death Star, Star Destroyer, X-Wing etc.) or the monuments (Eiffel Tower, Taj Mahal etc.). Agents offer the opposite: play value. So ask yourself, where you want to go with your first new set. If your feeling says "go for a building" I would highly recommend both Medieval Village (for a castle guy you were in the past) or the Green Grocer (1st choice in my opinion). If you like them as something to play with you can easily continue from there with more figures and small sets, both castle and city are known as cheaper sets than all the licences eg. If you liked building, then change them, if you like looking at them in your living room, you cannot go wrong with them as well. And if you really dislike them, give them to your niece and nephew!
  7. Finally a tauntaun.... but Hoth Han for the third time? Where is Luke? And I really hope the Rebel Soldiers don't have the classic smile face, it just doesn't work anymore. The Yavin 4 Troopers had so much better faces..!
  8. WOW.. unbelievable how they capture the actors/ characters from Indy on such a small piece with a few lines. I was impressed by the Sean Connery minifig, but this is amazing. Her eyes are genius! (The castles' Queen looks like on speed or something!) .. and there is Endor Leia!
  9. Perhaps first time ever that I am sorry for my american friends.. compared to the 16 euros here it is a bit pricy.. You should also check to get it from ebay or amazon in europe or from a friend here... But I am happy you get it at least, it seems to be a wonderful set and an upgrade for every castle collection! (I am so happy to be in germany right now, also in Italy and Japan it was a mess to get sets, here it is the cave of wonders lego!)
  10. ... and I thought these news/ rumors would attract much much more attention, since Indy was/ is a pretty popular line between AfoLs and here on EB.... is everyone on holiday or did I miss something....?
  11. thanks for the link.... the vehicles are numbered with 1,2,3.. what I don't iike, the colour seems alright except the big red pieces, there are also some bionicle pieces which I hate. Cannot say much about the minifigs, also this is the part most likely to change, it takes too much time to produce new minifig parts. The smaller sets, especially the Exo-Force robot and the mobile drill look nice to me! So if the minifigs are ok, I might buy one. The monsters are... sort of ok. Everyone prefers figs.
  12. Now these are some rumors I could take a bit more serious, since the january rumors from jedinews were all true! Indiana Jones got my favorite line and I love it to get new minifigs and vehicles and .... a temple of doom ! Even if I was no big fan of the new movie, but the graveyard scene was really cool in my opinion, and TLC is really good in making landscapes, so this one is more than interesting. We are getting Riva motorboats? Wow. That is too nice! 2 similiar vehicles seem a bit strange but anyway, the Indy vehicles were the best designs in recent years and sweet cause they never got that bulky and big as Batman for example. Also we get Elsa along with them, perhaps even Brody! (Edit: No, just saw the movie.. Brody is knocked out in the library...) The plane chase is gettig the same minifigs as the motorcycle chase, but the planes are going to be sweet, 4-wide and accurate. I just hope the fighter is going to have some landing gear.. And well, now they made a 2nd WW fighter, there is no excuse not to make the tank sooner or later. Anyway, it was a first WW tank, not even used by germans... please, TLC! The ... Temple of Doom.. Wow, I didn't expect that at all. Now we can forget all the nonsense about ToD being too dark, they give us the main set. I wonder if we get an elephant in this, I am crossing my fingers for one with a new nose piece! And well, this might be huge, but I am afraid TLC will cut the pieces to 1000 or 1200, even if it could have twice as much easily. So we have to make some compromises, I don't think they are going to put the complete "daytime" temple and the mines in one set, it would be too much: an entrance, the dinner room, the bedrooms, the secret passage, the complete altar with cage, the mines, some big water thing, the stone crusher, the minecars....? Ok, you all agree here, it is too much. So far they haven't been stingy in giving us minifigs with Indy sets, and I hope this one will have 10! I hope for an elephant (with new nose) and for a more daytime structure, that you can actually see it is an indian temple, not only the underground mines.. Overall, I am very very pleased to hear these news, they sound so promising. I have really high expectations for the minifigs and the design of the sets, cause so far they gave us one of the best lines ever!
  13. thanks milk, I am happy to hear that. In the past weeks rumors here went a bit crazy. And you are one of the few some old EB user can take serious! Looking forward for your news!
  14. Well, actually the Tantive 4 was a big rumor that was based on the release on the Rebel Trooper minifig.. Sadly it never apeared in some "serious" rumors or lists. I really have no clue what is wrong with TLC that they forgot the OT. I made a very similiar thread half a year ago or so, but there was not too much reply to it. I remember people saying there are the Indy sets to get for the OT SW collector, and there is the Death Star to be still released. Anyway, we got the chance to get Stormtroopers and Rebel Troopers this year (the vehicles don't count, they are not OT) and we got a Death Star Playset. Not bad, but in the end it is not much. And next year looks like the same. The focus is completely on Clone Wars, a cartoon movie and series that doesn't seem to be even average. Fans of it must be happy though, the sets are simply amazing. And next year also more amazing sets for them. I wish TLC could just improve a few more OT sets (e.g. Shuttle Tyridium, the first is way too small and old; Mos Isley cantina, Falcon) or be as smart and courageous as to release some things we didn't see so far (Rebel Medium Transport, Tauntauns, Endor sets). But if they do this, it is alright to close the curtains and leave a COMPLETE series to collect.
  15. ... and the Batman minifig is not based on Christian Bale at all. Anyway..
  16. I like the model, it is one of the best rebel sets out there. But I don't like it that there is no landing gear. When you set this one on the floor/ your rebel base it looks like it crashed or something and looses its look of superiority actually quite fast. It needs to be at least 2 studs high, if not more, from the ground. TLC is in these days afraid of flimsy landing gear, as they gave to us in the early SW time. Now they want something sturdy for playability. But I think there should have been some details on the bottom, especially a landing gear that unfolds. I also don't like the mistake of TLC (that they changed this year with the release of Indy hopefully) to give the pilot a usual smile face. The old yellow version of Gold Leader even had a headgear. I hope TLC realised this year that we want more detailed faces. Well, the licenced sets we got proved that, but who knows. The upsides of this set are the amount of pieces and detail, especially the engines were fun to build and perhaps the most interesting construction I have seen in years. Also it is big, bulky and looks sleek at the same time, just wonderful. And next to the 4502 X-Wing it looks in the perfect size! I gave this the highest rating, even if the underside disappoints. But whatever, it is lego, you can add some landing gear on your own! Thanks for the review, your pics were really really good, next time make more of them please!
  17. ...something like this popped into my head also! They had already much better lines than Rock Raiders (which is in my opinion completely nonsense and dull), why do they try so hard to let some poor lines live? They just stated in their half time report that the classic themes sold very well. The new city line seems to be a success and I think the next year will also sell really good; Castle sold like hell (I guess they regret that they stopped that one for so long) and the licences sell better than ever. A reason not to resurrect WW or Ninja seems that it is too close to existing themes, they want diversity. But if you can say from the start which line is going to fail, why make 8 new sets for it and all the marketing and production effort, why not just make one more set for each city, castle, AFOLs, creator, Indy and SW? Don't get it.
  18. There is one with an Empire Strikes Back cover, made only for the US. It came out with the 450xer sets, that spring... it is lovely, and if ever someone has a nice scan, please pm me! (I was searching for it quite some time in the past but was really unsuccessfull.... )
  19. I may add something... I guess the "problem" is also, that the "system" sets raised in quality so much that they ARE actually the wanted smaller UCS sets already. Just look at the newer Y-Wing or N-1. Compared to the 1999 models, these are outstanding and marvelous! And it is obvious that in 1999 we wanted UCS cause the system models were not advanced and nice loking at all.
  20. If it is in wikipedia, it must be true. Seriously, there are even articles about historic facts that are completely false. If someone believes these rumours, you might as well believe a new EB member who heard something from someone who might work for TLC.... Lately so called rumours that appear here just add some things to existing ones according to the highest possibility. And a lot of times they were even simply wrong (Indiana Jones canceled/ Battle droids and Magna Guards in a BP/ Alien in ATT). So, don't believe this, people! 10 minifigs with the Falcon? It could only be a Tatooine one (Han, Leia, Obi, Luke, R2, 3PO, Chewie, Spy, 2 Sandtroopers) and we just got that one last year. Anyway, I love it to hear ideas/ dreams about possible OT sets. For example, if they put the playability and sturdyness of the CW sets into a new Falcon, that would be sweet! And OT fans had a hard time this year, and probably will have it also in the first half of 2009. So for my behalf, I will dream of new OT sets, but won't believe any of these news.

    Indy Sets

City is getting a minifg pack, Caste is getting them, even Star Wars is getting them, so why not Indy? That would be sweet!! What about a Hovito pack with 4 Indians, some temple ruins, weapons and trees? Or the soldiers? Or if someone goes completely crazy at TLC, we could get an "Anything goes" Battlepack with 4 female dancing minifigs and a big dragon head! (I know this will never happen, please don't take me too serious! ) But well, TLC would never make a set without an Indiana Jones minifg, that is obvious... just some dreams here..
  22. What happened to this forum? Rude behaviour and rumours based on dreams, way too much in the last time. Guess the admins have lots of work banning people... Anyway: The video was very nice, good quality and nice edit, but could have been a bit longer... And what about quality control? Is there none and that is the reason I got quite a lot of not that well printed heads lately? I am a huge fan of the minifig and I am quite happy they didn't change it at all in these 30 years! When the camera went to the heads, there were yellow and flesh ones, but it seemed that only certain sets were made in that facility, cause it didn't cover that much. The whole cast of Speed Racer and Batman, but not the complete flesh line, right? Guess there were some clone wars figs, but not all. Or I am wrong, dunno.. Thanks for the link, it was sweet to see all those minifg parts together!
  23. OK, I let the sets grow on me a bit in the last days but I have to add my 2 cent.. The Shuttle seems nice and the few yellow pieces need to be there, the original one looks like this. I wonder how the interior looks like and if the final version gets some nice landing gear and a cool mechanism for the wings. The droids battlepack and the Hyena are not really my taste, they look a bit strange and boring, but I was never a fan of sets like the droids gunship or something like this. I am not too interested in red battledroids and well, I like the IG-4 droids in silver, but I guess one is enough for my collection. The AAT still looks a bit plain and honestly nothing compared to the Republic Tank, also I liked the tan colour from the Ep. I version a lot more. Vaders TIE is the first must buy in my list, the colour looks so relaxing compared to the blue/ black one. It looks so '70s and oldschool, like it should simply be. Also it seems to come with the new Vader, I really do need that minifig! And well, the Clone BP is a must buy. The walker is nice but I do need it (as TLC wanted it... sigh) to cover all the empty seats in the AT-TE and gunship. Overall I have to say that these pictures look much more preliminary than Indiana Jones, pirates or especially city sets (that seem almost finished) and so I am open to changing my opinion about them. Also TLC gave us the most important CW sets right now, so the models are a bit more boring. But also they lack of the playability factor, that I really loved about this years CW sets. They are not only to be looked at or have flimsy movable parts like SW was too often in the past - you can actually play with it and it works! That is why the most important set besides the TIE is the Clone BP, just to give this years sets more crew! But I am looking forward for the neat detail and play stuff that made me like CW sets so far a lot! I won't say too much about the minifigs, cause this could always be changed (except Vader, it is somehow clear we will get him and only him) - but I am looking forward to see a CW Mace Windu with big cartoony eyes! Also I am pretty sure we will see a few more minifigs than there were in the pictures, and I hope to see a new Yoda, I am tired of the old one.. (no offense, but these one colour molds are out of fashion) About OT I would like to say that one set is bit - not - that - much, but there were rumours about a Tauntaun set finally and a new Endor set (same here as on the Yoda issue: Look at the newer minifigs, I am pretty convinced we then would see some more detailed Ewoks). And last but not least I would like to know what you guys think of the Solar Sailor - what kind of tricky technic function does it need to look and work at least a bit like the one we saw in Ep. II? Also, will it be a CW sets or an Ep. II set..? (CW I guess, the tv series will make the continuance of the blue/white boxes a bit longer) So, these are my thoughts about news and rumours so far, no revolution, no revelation, just my 2 cent. And I will be always open to change my mind if you give me something sweet to play with (the V-19 anyone? too nice..)!

    City '09?

this is only preliminary, so you can be sure he will get his own personal muscle torso! Back to City: I simply LOVE the farm sets. And I cannot even say why. The Landrover looks too sweet and I like the cows a lot! The building vehicles are a bit too big, 7631 is the best for me so far! Oh, I like this time of the year the most! Best time right after january....
  25. Thanks a lot for the pictures! The shanghai chase looks like a must buy, sweet vehicles and 5 new minifigs! But I don't like the flying wing at all, the wings are all wrong and I hate those jedifighter canopy pieces - hope they change the design a lot from this, otherwise I guess this is the first Indy set I won't get....
