If the rumour about Ewok Village for 2013 is true, we do really need a new set for the Imperial forces in 2014. We simply got the (great) TIE in 2012 and a few troops in 2012 and 2013 and a speeder bike here and there. Bring on ISDs, Shuttles, Landing Crafts, TIEs - TLC!

Are Star Wars MOC Builders becoming a dying breed?
Zzz replied to HJR-Holland's topic in LEGO Star Wars
I don't have the bricks, the time, the patience to create MOCs that are on a level of the master MOC'ers around the web. It'd be too sad posting my creations. In fact, it'd be even too sad creating one for myself, as I spent too much time looking at other peoples MOCs. What I do is improving TLCs sets a little, eg. 4500 or 7676. But I still think those fall short compared to what others post and I'd rather be in no place than second last place. Also, looking at the new TIE fighter, there is nothing wrong with it. I cannot improve it, neither build a better one in 10 years. So that's another reason (that's been mentioned before here) - TLC became much better than most of us. It is not 1999 anymore out there. And then (also been mentioned), there is not much left in the SW universe to make. I believe being really creative with bricks is honored much better in other themes. I for one have ideas of creating some WIld West MOCs to go with the new Western sets, but in boundaries of bricks limitations, time, money, patience. And so the circle closes. -

It's a difficult question whether or not they started working on those on a level that there's no turning back. And at what point Lucas/Disney/whatever Licensor will give the final go. And what compromise can be found in this specific situation regarding change of the licensor. Altogether I just notice that my previous post had so many uncertainties included, which even most TLC employees will never even know about, that the entire post seems rather useless. I believe we just have to wait and see... (But I agree with you that it's not the most happy ending for TLC having the shelfs full of Episode II sets but no one is really talking about the movie at all this year.)

Best - Leia as Boushh Worst - CW humans There are many very good and very ugly minifigures, though..

What a great review! It makes me really interested in this set! It seems they wanted to keep it down on prices and set sizes. It surely is very small. And I just might want to make it like you - just to assemble the mansion. The helicopter is great but on display the mansion works better as a standalone.

I believe Disney will want to OK all 2014 LSW sets? Will they shut down the CW toy line as fast as the TV series? Will they allow Episode III sets (remember the 3D version was planned and it might be TLC wanted to release a few sets, like they're doing this year with E II)? For someone who is eagerly awaiting Phase II clones, this is all very unfortunate...

plus the City and the polybagged Tonto. (And the new CMF Native American has one)

I agree here. Lone Ranger looks better and better and easily tops the POTC line. Since - I believe - many are with me saying that the PoP line was equally amazing, I keep wondering why POTC was so mediocre at best. Perhaps it's just easier to handle one film at a time, who knows.

Not for me. Domestic theme = boring. Also I agree with others here, Simpsons is about to die, and I am also happy about that, it lasted way too long. The last episode I saw about 4 years ago was boring. I also would have liked to see Futurama, it's an exploring theme and has much more potential cause the characters, storyline and everything is just insane and strange. I could come up with much more fun stories myself for Futurama than for the Simpsons. And it's all about imagination, no?

I am a huge fan of the LAAT/i and I own the 2008 version. While I have to admit the new one looks tempting, several things about the old one is better. pros - fully sealed (looks more intimidating) - no side turrets (they just don't look good on the new one) - Twilek nose art - no handle but cool little drones (only kids need a handle) cons - cockpit on 2013 model looks better and seems more stable - figures are better on the new one With a few changes the 7676 is a really great model and I personally think the new one looks a little too 'open' and not really like an awesome 'gunship'.

Problem 1 = I would say that the yellow minifig is really a problem. Making native american minifigs is still alright, but TLC would never attempt on making a yellow minifig of an obvious black person. I'd say there is too much trouble in this, which is rather awkward for you and me, cause we understand TLCs policy of having the yellow representing all skin colours and therefor being as political correct as even possible. Having said that, I know that not many have this understanding of TLCs policies and in times where Jabbas Palace resembles a mosque to some and TLC is blamed for that, they are likely very careful about all this stuff. The only solution for this is a Licenced theme but we all know TLC don't make these up so the only hope is to having Disney making a movie in Africa. And having the Lego sets accordingly. Rather unlikely I am afraid. Problem 2 = Having the Licenced themes aside (which no one can predict), under which themes would these sets appear? I would love to see new Adventurer sets or even Jake Raine coming back to another setting. Not having any Adventure-related themes in the moment (Indy, Adventurers, PQ) is rather sad. Still, I would say that future adventure themes are rather located somewhere else, Polar region, South America, Asia probably. But there is a slight chance. And since PQ didn't have any local folks at all, TLC does manage to release themes without any local inhabitants. So it might be a solution to problem 1 as well, to simply ignore entirely the people who live there. This leads to the final Solution = Having an african set without any locals under no Licence. I would say a Rally Car is my vote to be the likeliest set we are going to see. No locals, yellow minifigs, some animals, no hunting, could work under the City theme. I know this is not really what the topic starter wanted to hear, but I would say this is probably going to happen sooner or later. Everything else (Safari, african culture, Action themes) rather not I believe.

Actor With Most Minifig Representations Within a Span of LEGO Licenses
Zzz replied to tin7_creations's topic in LEGO Licensed
Did you guys forget Pat Roach? There are 3 minifigs: Cairo Swordsman, German Mechanic and the Chief Guard in 7199. (I never knew he was in Clockwork Orange. I only knew Darth Vader is in it, and found that already great!) -

Oh Warrior Girl, you will be mine! Close second are the Roman and Mohawk for me, the rest (especiall city folks) are not really my cup of tea, but I have to admit this is a great line-up in general.- 1,076 replies

Great review, MB, as usual! Having lived in Tokyo, I am very happy to finally see a Japan entry into the Architecture line, and this is great model. But to be completely honest, I would have prefered the Tokyo Tower or the Metropolitan Gouvernment Building.

I also couldn't care less about the movie but these sets will be turned into some lovely Red Dead Redemption and Good, Bad, Ugly MOCs. Still, I wish the movie is doing well, some day we might get a follow-up taking place in Mexico and some Lego sets with it... Now that would be fantabolous!

"People" do talk about a lot of stuff - weather, politics and actually everything else. I believe it's not to judge about what others are interested in and it's not surprising that people talk about Star Wars in a Lego Star Wars forum.

That's the thing, they already have it (UCS JSF)! They probably found it's too big being 4x4. Couldn't explain otherwise.

It looks awesome but those canopy stickers freak me out. I am not sure I am able to stand the pressure putting these on a 200€ set. Misplacing them only a mm will leave me focusing on my mistake more than on the beauty of this model.

I hate it to correct you here, but not a single designer in any company makes decisions about the product lineup. Those decisions are made by the management. Second, and more importantly, you might already be aware that what you would like - more competition to Lego so their products are becoming more interesting for your personal taste - is a statement that is hard to understand. Actually, I am sure TLC is having a lot of competition and that's why they need to make money and not please a few hardcore fans. Making money means developing and releasing sets that will sell, and this one will do. For me it's a miracle that they didn't make remakes already in the UCS line! They need to make money, we all want them to make money to live on with our hobby. Also consider please that tastes are different and for many it's important to get a cool X-Wing rather than a strange B-level ship that was seen in the background. Please also remember that if a similiar model was available 12 years ago, it doesn't necessarily mean we were all into Lego at that time or had the money or space. Releasing a new police station every 2 or 3 years makes perfectly sense, and I find a 12 years for a new X-Wing considerably harmless. Let's be happy for all our mates here who can now get one without paying the horrible amounts on Ebay or BL! Cheer up, mate!

It's a classic.

Some funny facts: There is only one female main character in each OT and PT, and through rather awkward circumstances both of them loose a smaller or bigger part of their clothes unintentionally. They both appear as minifigures in these revealing outfits in Summer 2013, with the 2 biggest sets, which both don't appear for the first time.

What're your favorite and least favorite Star Wars sets?
Zzz replied to Loco de Lego's topic in LEGO Star Wars
I can't believe I haven't answered to one of this threads, but as this pops up on page one, I share my opinion of buying LSW since 1999. Top one favorite should be 9492 TIE Fighter. While not my favorite ship in the movies, the model and set is just stunning. Close runner-ups are 7676 LAAT/i (I do dislike the CW series but this one is a great model and set despite some flaws), 7965 Falcon (my favorite ship in the movies, a decent model but a little lacking interior), 4483 AT-AT (years ahead at that time and simply beautiful still today). The 2 playsets 8038 Endor and 9516 Jabbas Palace are really good as well, with Endor being the closest competitor to the TIE as the best set. JP is a great set but horribly overpriced. -
Hey - you have (or had) the Pirate comic! ( I spotted the Willy minifig ) I simply loved that, most of my made-up stories centered around Willy and the other guy that came with the comic. Unfortunately I found out a couple years ago when reading the comic again as a scan that it's pretty much rubbish and badly drawn. But at the age of 11 it was marvelous!
