Interesting that they both said davey in your survey. Combined with burton's early day 1 vote for davey, makes me leaning towards davey being loyal. Also interesting that both mentioned framers, since I think many people here wouldn't have even known that that was a POSSIBLE role in the game (at least me - I came into the academy completely clueless. I didn't even know that mafia games existed outside EB!) So both mentioning it makes me think they do (or did) have that role. Still amazed at the odds for the framer and investigator to target the same person on the same night. Was Andrew's investigation of Simone discussed with anyone before he did it? Was he picking who to investigate by himself or was there a group he was talking to? If it was a group thing, we NEED TO KNOW WHO WAS IN THAT GROUP because one of them is scum and that's why the framer was able to frame Simone that night. If he picked alone, then the scum got super lucky.

Yeah, I think people have gotten a little confused in this game by people referencing "framing" since people aren't killed here, they're "framed" by a black fig putting weapons in their bags and getting them expelled. That's why I've switched to just calling it kill usually. Simone's guide must have been a frame, meaning the scum have/had a night action that lets them have a town character appear scummy when investigated. That must have gotten REALLY lucky then, since there were, what, like 20 people left at that point? To have them frame and the investigator investigate the same person? With 20 people that's like 1 in 300 odds! (figuring the scum had ~15 town to pick from, and the investigator had about 20 to pick from to investigate) And I didn't mean ANYTHING clue-wise about the story and the lockers and stuff... I was just joking about the pictures. Not trying to imply there's anything to be learned there. As was explained to me yesterday, that's how mafia is done here at EB. Other "standard" games it's worse for the town, since the killer can change every night! But here, one scum is given the kill ability and it gets passed on when they're out. With no kill ability, the scum have almost no chance to win. Sucks for us, since we lose lots of townies to it, but it's how it's played. I agree - I think that's a good reason for them to kill off Andrew. He's gotten lots of attention, suspicion, and even votes, but not gotten voted out. With him gone, they can use their blocker to try to find our blocker now I guess. And yes, I think a frame must be the explanation for the Guide result. I can't think of another.

Well, well, well... looks like we've got some serious re-thinking to do! First off... Andrew, if you're out there and can read this, I'm sorry I doubted you. I was wrong - I still don't know what happened with that investigation, but you were on our side and I never trusted you. Glad to see our vote was correct. However, we did indeed allow a new killer to hit. Blocker, who did you block last night and what was the result? We won't know for sure that person was scum, but we will know they're NOT the current killer... Like the hit on Cameron, I'm shocked to see Andrew scum-killed! He had a good chance of being voted out any day, so why on earth did they use the scumkill against him? If I were scummy I totally would want to knock out the solid townies! Or the quiet townies. But not the suspicious townies! But, with Andrew gone but loyal, what does that mean from the old investigation? Did he truly mis-interpret it? I can't wait till the end to get answers to some questions about how things have gone down! (and as for the story up there... more than the source of weapons, how do they fit them in those tiny lockers? The axe and such are WAY too long to fit! And why did the metal detector alarm on Andrew? A plastic bottle of booze shouldn't have set it off... or was the bottle tampered with to add some metal to it?)

Summary of the day's votes (mostly for my reference, but putting it here for all): Jeanie Bueller voted Burton Bobby Busch voted Burton Andrew Clark voted Burton Lucy Emerson voted Burton Burton Guster voted Brian Mary Jane voted Chuckie then Burton Brian Johnson voted Burton Chuckie Miller voted Claire Davey Osborne voted Burton Adriano Parbritzzi voted Burton Allison Reynolds voted Jeanie then Burton Claire Standish voted Burton Current totals: Burton 11 Claire 1 Burton, anything to say before you leave the class?
-
Well, I'll join the crown like I said I would if the lynch is going Guster. Unvote: Chuckie Miller (-obelix-) Vote: Burton Guster (Jedi master Brick) That done, in the interest of learning here in the academy, Adriano, what better defense could Burton have made if he were town? Assuming vanilla town, what could he say other than I'm not the killer and I don't know why there was no scumkill last night? Jeanie, why don't you think the kill ability will get passed on? Seems from what everyone else says, that's the EB way to play. Since scum w/o a kill are so weak, it makes sense to me. And the "rest of the world" way to play appears to be that there's not a set killer each night, but the scum team gets to pick a target and have one scum carry it out, so effectively, they never lose the kill ability either. Just here it's kept to one player until they're gone, making it a little easier to learn and catch them. that should be crowd, not crown up there. But I can't edit (as we've been firmly taught!)

I'd actually typed up a reply saying the same as Claire, but I just can't do it yet. I think I have to agree with Allison stronger here... Yes, I'd be very willing to vote for Guster based on the info we have. However, I think that would lead to a scum being lynched AND a townie getting night killed. On the other hand, what info will we have to go on otherwise? If we do lynch Guster, then the blocker would be free to block someone else and see what the results are. Might get lucky and confirm another scum. Or we'd for sure confirm a town as they got killed off if the blocker chose wrongly or unluckily (since the blocker would have 3 possible results - 1. block someone, see no night kill, and know that's a scum. 2. block a scum, but not the new killer, and know nothing for sure other than a dead townie's loyalty 3. Block a town by mistake, know nothing for sure other than a dead townie's loyalty. That's a very risky play - My gut says we're currently at 8 town and 4 scum. Could be 7-5 too (I'm saying those numbers just based on thinking it started with 5 or 6 scum, not thinking about how many current suspects I have). Man, I'm waffling back and forth. I guess I'm willing to vote guster over a no-lynch vote, since that would tell us truly NOTHING. But I'd rather vote someone else off. Yesterday there were 3 people I think are town (myself, Bobby, and Jeanie) voting for Andrew and then Guster and Chuckie jumped on, trying to get andrew out. Either they're town helping expel scum, or they're scum getting on a bandwagon against Andrew. Still doesn't mean he's not scum (the talk was solidly leaning against Andrew at that point, so maybe they were just trying to hide). But with that in mind, for now I'm going to say Vote: Chuckie Miller (-obelix-)

Allison, I agree with you IF the kill ability would keep getting passed on. The link Lucy posted talked about only a specific backup to an investigator or doctor, but I looked around and found that "standard" games don't have a specific killer on the Mesa team. It IS one person who carries out the attack, but not necessarily the same one each night. http://wiki.mafiascum.net/index.php?title=Mafia The details of how it works though vary from game to game, and I don't know what rules are being used here. So is the killer pre-determined, or would the fact that we're saying "we're going to block Guster tonight" mean the Mesas would just have someone else slip a weapon in someone's bag tonight and get them expelled? To phrase it differently: IF Burton is scum and we block him instead of lynch, could the Mesas just have someone else attack since they know he's going to be blocked? Or is the killer a fixed role for as long as that player is around, and so we could conceivable keep the known killer around and perma-block him while going after the rest of the scum?

Shawna wasn't high on my list, and I don't think high on most lists. There were scummier-appearing people that could have been sacrificed (assuming they were indeed scum). But to me, it appeared not sacrificial. Agree! No town killed is a win in and of itself, and having info is even better. Do we know that the killer ability gets passed on in the scum? Or is this just an assumption based on the history of kills? Our vig's ability didn't get passed on. Agree on both Andrew and Adriano. The blocker doesn't get to know WHAT they blocked someone from doing, right? So I think this is just the blocker being told they were successful in keeping someone locked up for the night and the basketball part isn't any more significant than the fact that he's a jock is. That's my understanding, but I could be wrong.
-
That may be true (yet to be proven either way) on the investigator, but the blocker got rid of Shawna, so I'm HIGHLY inclined to believe again. And not only that, but Shawna wasn't seriously on the radar when the blocker pointed us to her, so it's not like this is likely to be a scum impersonator. I think our blocker has proven him/herself. I for one am optimistic about this Day 7, that we'll actually get to vote a scum out again!
-
Hm. Summary of the day's votes (mostly for my reference, but putting it here for all): Jeanie Bueller voted Andrew Bobby Busch voted Andrew Andrew Clark voted Bobby Lucy Emerson voted Adriano Burton Guster voted Andrew Mary Jane voted Andrew then Chuckie Brian Johnson voted Chuckie Chuckie Miller voted Andrew Davey Osborne voted Burton then Jeanie Adriano Parbritzzi voted Chuckie Allison Reynolds voted Mary Jane, then Jeanie Claire Standish voted Burton then Chuckie So current totals: Andrew 4 (peaked at 5) Bobby 1 Adriano 1 Chuckie 4 Jeanie 2 So far we're stuck. Need 7 to expel. Anyone wanna switch? A no-expel isn't the end of the world since we don't have really solid info, but on the other hand it means a night with probably a scum kill and zero chance of expelling any scum. (and making these totals drove me nuts because the "voting is open" post by the faculty incorrectly stated that there's 13 students left, so I counted the votes over and over trying to figure out where I was missing one!)
-
Wow, so now anyone who doesn't vote the way you want is scum? By the same logic you use, I could say that Andrew is scummy and since you're defending him, you must be too. In the interest of "proving myself" to you however, I'll do this: Unvote: Andrew Clark (Clanure) Vote: Chuckie Miller (-obelix-) I still want to see Andrew expelled, but it doesn't have to be today. I'm starting to come around on Claire - I don't necessarily trust her, but I think there's a decent chance she's town and was just used to spread bad info. Chuckie I think is flying under the radar on purpose. He was the one that put the vote against Bud on day 1 over 50%, he voted against Ricky on day 2, joined with everyone against Simone on day 3, voted against John day 4, and didn't vote against Shawna until her fate was already sealed with enough votes. That's 100% bad voting as far as I'm concerned. Not a guarantee of scum (since we've had SO little info to go on) but better than nothing at this point.
-
Woah! Hold on there! I did NOT deny Shawna was scum or the scum killer! Heck, I was the first one to vote for her yesterday! I was asking for clarification on how things work when someone with a night ability is expelled - I want to know if Cameron getting "black killed" could have been Shawna on her way out, if her ability could have been passed to someone else, or if we have a second killer out there. I'm here in the academy because I don't know the details on things like this. I'm here to learn (and expel scum!) Also, my list of people was just the interesting folk, not necessarily people I suspect. I've been talking (well, I've sent PMs but he hasn't been on to answer them yet) with Adriano today and personally told him he's in my top couple people of trustworthyness. Nothing in what I said was meant to indicate I thought he (or Brian for that matter) were scum. I'm still very suspicious of Claire and Andrew (like Jeanie said, I have trouble believing that the investigation result could have been confusing enough to wrongly implicate someone), but I haven't made a vote yet because I'm not convinced either way on them. However, at this point I also haven't seen anyone else scummier to earn a vote either. Allison, anything else I can do to reassure you of my loyalties?
-
Ok, let's talk. Here's my thoughts on a few people. Andrew Clark, The Jock Obviously still under suspicion by many. After the wrong result on his investigation, what are we supposed to think? Since then he's claimed to be blocked, but that could also easily be cover so that he doesn't have to make any "results" up. Mary Jane, The Jock I know a few of you suspect me. I did change dramatically a couple days ago from quiet to very vocal. I'm just trying to help, since our previous "leaders" didn't turn out so well and have largely gone quiet. Brian Johnson, The Geek Making claims to be in contact with our blocker, but hard to know if that's true. Adriano Parbritzzi, The Exchange Student Been very busy analyzing and talking to everyone. I'd sure like to hear any more details he can share about the results of his survey, see if there's anything there helpful for today. Personally I've appreciated his activity. Claire Standish, The Prep Like Andrew, still under suspicion after the wrong investigation. I do find it curious how after all her posturing and statements like "if I'm wrong you can vote me out" that she's still here. I know I'm not convinced of her loyalty to the Academy at this point. Everyone else - mostly pretty quiet. Either just not sure what to think (like I was at first) or scum trying to fly under the radar. Not sure this has actually been helpful, but hopefully at least we can spur some conversation and catch some scum again today!
