I think for the target lego audience (ie KIDS), they don't really care if all their cows or dogs look alike. They likely don't have more than 1 or 2 anyway. So the cost of changing the print (which I'm sure is more than we'd think, since they'd have to make new stamps (or whatever the printing plate itself is called for this), test them, etc. And only the AFOLs would ever notice or care.

finally filled my last 2 holiday free boxes last night. One I completely filled with 1x4 brown tiles (for my train tracks, wanna cover all the grey railroad ties with brown. Now just gotta get a ton of 1x2 brown tiles to finish the job...). The other I got a 1x2x5 white bricks, some http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItem.asp?P=6087 (bracket, 5x2x2 1/3), and topped off with trans-clear cheese.

Well, since I'm new the academy... anyone care to explain more info on the roles? They've been mentioned many times but I'm pretty clueless on them. I've seen mention of Investigator, Serial Killer, Godfather, Watcher, Vigilante, etc. Well, if this is true, then I'll be very sad to see you go. And we'll be pretty clear on the next vote! Or if our investigation has reported truth, then we'll just know this as another pack of lies, and know who to trust. As #10 though, I hope that we find him/her before the killer gets too much farther through the numbers!
-
Well... I had been planning to vote Ricky today, but since that's no longer needed (and I'm currently about 60/40 on how he'll turn out, not completely convinced that he was scum but I think so)... I'll say Vote: Simone Adamley (Captain Nemo) for now. As many have said, when we get the results on Simone we'll know a lot about other people too. I hope hope hope we're right on this one though... without the investigation info I don't know that I'd be voting this way right now.

I think it's time for me to go re-read what was posted by both Wendy and Craig, giving it extra weight now that we know they were loyal. Especially Craig, since he was targeted by those scum.... they may not have always been correct in their thinking, but at least we know they weren't deliberately deceiving! I agree that some of those who voted against both Bud and Wendy are likely scum. I'm also looking though at those who voted for others late on day 1 (after Bud was solidly getting expelled) but then voted for Wendy (a much closer vote) - and I realize I fall into this category. I promise though I'm as solidly loyal as can be. We jocks may not always be the best and brightest in the classroom, but we're seeking the Academy's glory on the field. Not to undermine it anywhere, anytime.

Wow, I'm shocked. I even had a lengthy argument ready to post about how Wendy being scum means Ricky has to be loyal. Guess I can delete that file now, since it's totally wrong! Time to rethink the logic and analysis... (and yes, I realize that I posted in day 2 that I thought both wendy and ricky were scum... but thinking during the night, I changed my mind. Now that we know she wasn't.... well, time to change my mind on a bunch perhaps...)
-
Well, I'm suspicious of both Ricky and Wendy, primarily due to the day 1 votes. Before my vote change, there were 3 people with 5-6 votes each, and it was looking seriously unlikely that anyone would get a majority. Since I'd like to see both gone, it's not a big deal to me to change my vote. Assuming that Wendy is lynched, odds are I'll vote for Ricky tomorrow. I don't see my change as in any way disloyal to the class or as suspicious. I see it as increasing the odds that *a* scum gets voted out, rather than no scum.
-
Ricky's still on my radar, but wendy has been as well. So in the interest of getting somewhere, I'll switch. My voting for Ricky was largely due to him getting only one vote on day 1, and that one came from wendy. I voted for her day 1 and I'll do it again. Unvote: Ricky Sanders (Brickington) Vote: Wendy Beamish (Wedge09)

He's referring to my accusation that he never said anything on day 1. I explained earlier, but summary - saw he hadn't voted (forgot about his mis-formatted attempt). So then I used the EB search to see if he'd posted rather than re-reading all of day 1 like I should have. The search showed nothing, so I stated that he'd been inactive on day 1. When he corrected me, I apologized as asked but made some teasing comments about his band nerd-ness. At this point I'm tempted to vote for Bob. He voted for me and didn't unvote after I apologized and clarified myself. And he's voting without good cause. However, I don't want to be seen in a trend of "bandwagoning" even though I'm not, I just came to the same conclusions as others later, since I happened to be on the forum later. However, looking at things... I suspect that the list of 10 who voted for Bud contains several or even all of the scum. They saw his weakness (receiving the penalty votes) and saw an easy target to kick out. I'm more suspicious right now though of Ricky. He got the same 5 penalty votes but only received 1 other vote. Did this happen because he's scummy and they went after Bud to defend Ricky? I think perhaps. So based on that, for now, I'm saying Vote: Ricky Sanders (Brickington) although if someone can give cause against one of the anti-Bud-10, I'd be more than willing to switch. to be clear, my temptation to vote for Bob isn't because he's roleplaying (or even over-roleplaying). It's because he used the roleplaying as reason to vote. Doesn't matter that it was a vote against me (although the temptation to give a retaliatory vote is always there), it was his lack of real reason in his vote.
-
My apologies then - I posted that without reading all through the day 1 posts. I was studying the votes, realized there were only 21 votes from 22 people, and compared to the student roster. I realized you were the missing vote, so I used the EB search to look for posts by you in the Mafia section. It said none so I believed it without double-checking. And since there's several of you band nerds around, I didn't recall for sure who has said what all the time. You all look alike in those silly uniforms. What's WITH those hats and plumes anyway? You'd never find a cool person wearing that. We wear practical stuff - either normal clothes or team uniforms that make sense.

Sure, Ricky was a little wild at first, but it was in character. Who here is COMPLETELY new to this scum hunting besides me? That's why I came to the academy (well, besides soccer of course) - to learn how to hunt. I know nothing about special skills, roles, etc other than what's been said here since our arrival. If you look back, I was doing a good bit of roleplaying at first too (and from the latest post from Shadow, it seems like that's a good thing). I toned it down as the hunt got more serious too. So was Ricky actually being wild and was told to be more discreet, or was he just being the mascot? As stated in my vote for you, you gave it ONLY after getting voted for. I'd expect most scum (especially newbie scum like we supposedly have here) to be quiet and try to sneak by. Maybe that's just my personality talking though. Agreed. Anyone have knowledge of these roles that they wanna share - like what info SHOULD we townies be expecting to get from our people with skills, etc? Well, I think the telling thing is that Bobby Busch never voted. In fact, unless I missed something (and the EB search did too), he never even posted in day 1.

Looks great - might have to add this to my layout whenever I have time to actually work on it again ;)
-
I'm going to say Vote: Wendy Beamish (Wedge09) Why? Well, Wendy took forever to share her number, and did so only after getting voted against. Also, those band people tear up the fields with their marching and crap. Finally, I don't want to join the bandwagon against Bud cause I'm not convinced he's bad yet. Although Newton's virus claim is pretty suspicious too. I mean, how does someone with a smart name like newton have computer problems? I mean, he was in Short Circuit so I could buy a robot tearing his place up or bad guys trying to steal his technology, but not a simple virus.

Wow, so much drama while I was sleeping. Practice just wears me out so I sleep great, but now I'm up and getting caught up. Shoes? You think shoes will solve this? Heck, worth a shot. I may be a girl but the only shoes I wear are cleats for the field. Means I can't POSSIBLY be sneaky, cause indoors you can hear me walking from a mile away on the academy's tile floors. And you wear leather dockers, huh? Well... sounds nice and preppy, but could also be good for sneaking around. Wonder what shoes the chicken wears?

My student number is 10 here. Since I'm dyslexic, that means I'm number one! So there. And number one is what the Cocks will be as soon as I find the rest of the soccer team so we can get practicing and running and stuff. Go COCKS! I'm up for study groups - gotta keep my grades up to keep my athletic scholarship. And since I spend as much time as I can on the field, studying is hard! I'll take any help I can get cause my parents will just KILL me if I lose the scholarship.
-
Howdy everybody! I'm so glad to be here - anyone know when tryouts for the soccer team are? I still don't get why a science academy has sports and arts and stuff, but hey, it got me in here, didn't it? Those athletic scholarships ROCK! (IS there even a team? Don't think I've seen another soccer player around here at all! There's quite a few jocks for such a prestigious academy, but everyone's into different sports....)

That's a pretty clever decoupler there, and seems to work well. The only drawback I see is that you can't ever drive back over it without decoupling. Almost needs a motor or switch to retract the mechanism lower so that you can just use it sometimes. I can't think of anywhere on my layout I'd ALWAYS want to decouple.

Normally not a fan of homemade stickers, but these turned out great and are subtle enough to look fantastic! Whole building looks great

Lego Kingdoms Chess Set in LEGO Stores?
mostlytechnic replied to Brickington's topic in Buy, Sell, Trade and Finds
I've seen it in the US Lego stores. -
Ooooh, hope they are doing it in the US... I've been the #1 VIP at my store for 2 years straight and I'd love that keychain! (oh, and TheLegoDr, for reference, I spend probably $5k a year there)
