Askan replied to syclone's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Nice review. I really like this set as it was the first modern technic set I built and it brought me back into Lego. -

That' s wonderful! Give it a go! Yes modernism fits perfect for Lego because of the basic shapes. Thanks! I started with one box of the studio set, so my first creations are only from that. Then I have added more and more white bricks. Some to be able to build bigger things (more basic bricks like 2x2, 1x6 etc) and many more tiles and some other pieces. The studio set is however great and the limited amount of bricks really boosts ones creativity and you get away from the demand of building perfect things. So a studio set to begin with then just order some extra stuff on Lego online shop later. I have stayed with basic bricks and so far I dont use special bricks like windows, doors, fences etc.

No nothing is photoshopped. I take the pic with my iphone and then I do some processing in the iphone to get a black background from the black paper I use as abckground. Normally I adjust the contrast and shadow a little.

Thank you that is very kind! Experimenting with some impossible figures inspired by some pros like Reuterswärd, Escher and Penrose as well as other Lego amateur builders I have seen on internet. It is difficult with white very reflecting Lego... First out, Impossible Trellick Tower Next is a Scooby Doo mystery... A mix of figures, including a variation of Penrose triangle Impossible cube inspired from Escher.

Hi guys, some more small Architecture MOCs. Villa la Roche by Le Corbusier and Pierre Jeanneret. This is a double house but I did not have the time nor bricks to finish the whole. That is also why I built the windows with black bricks, as that goes faster than proper ones. Inside Villa la Roche Aircondiotional love. Lego minimalism. Shadow play, a little bit of my favourite theme… It is so much fun, especially if you involve stairs. Canadian Church and my first round Lego window :) This is how it often looks when I take my pictures. Experimenting with green background, because it looks nice in black and white. However I picked black background in the end. Beach kiosk bathing in the full moon light. From my own imagination. Shadow play inspired by Nicholas alan Cope, my favourite photographer. Shadows in court yard, inspired by photo from Raven van Baak. The sun hits the roof of Auroville Townhall, India. Suprisingly cool effects in the white grille plates :) Shadows in stairs Window from inside of Bauhaus Masters’ House in Dessau, by Gropius. Roof top of Villa Tugendhat by Mies van der Rohe. N-house in Tokyo by Tamagami

To me Buckingham Palace did not look so interesting, but US Capitol building, wow!! That is the most beautiful Architecture set I have seen, in competition with Robie House. This is a must-buy for me.

Thank you for those very kind words! I continued with some more shadow work :) Coleman A. Young Community Center, Detroit av William Kessler, inspired by a photo from flickr user pinehurst19475: Two unknown objects: Isidore H. Heller House by Frank Lloyd Wright. Often described as a turning point for FLW, where he moved towards his characteristic prairie style.

Thank you ER0L, both for the nice words and the information. Some new creations. Wrapping up my Bauhaus week with three small creations: Bauhaus school building in Dessau by Gropius, Chamberlain Cottage by Gropius, and Farnsworth House by Ludwig van der Rohe. The Bachman-Wilson House by Frank Lloyd Wright. Somehow i lost the length of the building in the photo. Also, I was supposed to take the photo from ground level, that is why I did not bother to build all windows all the way down :) Casa Gilardi by Luis Barragan. It was a lot of fun to play around with lights and shadows. Duplo-brutalism. Happy to use my son's Duplo. From Iran. German balconies. It is funny sometimes, that something that looks like a straightforward simple and quick build gets complicated by a small detail. In this case the thin walls of the balconies.

Great build! And you gave me some ideas how i can solve a problem with a building i never managed to build :) -
That was some great detective work

The last days have a little bit of Bauhaus and Gropius days. I also sneaked in a Le Corbusier :) Bauhaus school in Dessau Germany, by Walter Gropius. Masters' houses by Gropius (Mäusterhäuser) in Dessau, Germany. Houses for Bauhaus masters with families. Famous people like Kandinsky, Paul Klee and Mies van der Rohe have lived here. National Museum of Western Art, Tokyo, by le Corbusier. I am very happy with how my tile pattern turned out, where I have half a stud offset pattern. Also 4 studs tiles at bottom, 3 studs in middle and 2 studs at top. Fagus Factory (Fagus-Werk) in Alfeld Germany, by Gropius and Adolf Meyer. Another build from Masters' houses in Dessau by Gropius.

Asilla: thank you! Don't we all have too many sets on our wishlists... Fontana Boathouse, Buffalo, NY, by Frank Lloyd Wright. His first design of this building was already 1905, but it was not built until 2007. Lisbon Wall Texas Parking garage in microscale. Edmonton Law Courts. Want to use the studs more as I think they add beautiful structure, however I think they became a little too dominant in this creation. In the beginning i planned to build this in the double size and use the studs of jumper plates to create the dotted pattern, maybe that would have worked better. Lego minimalism 111 Picadilly Manchester, UK, designed by Douglas Stephen & Partners. As always the challenge with microscale is to find the essence of the building without having the opportunity to use the details. First I simplified the pillars, see top right, but thought that took away an important part of the building. Instead I put a black plate in between a white plate and tile to mimic the gap in the pillar. Then it became way too bulky. Never solved this problem :) Brunnswick center, London, by Patrick Hodgkinson. Some more Lego brutalism :) German building

6ix: Thanks! Borex: Haunted Headquarter :) Some more small creations. Malmö City Library, Sweden. The library has several building that are connected. There is a cool contrast between the old "castle" and the new glass part, "The Calendar of Light". I really love this library and it is even more beautiful on the inside. Designed by Danish architect Henning Larsen, who also designed Copenhagen Opera House among many other masterpieces. Lego Minimalism. Stairs Inner court yard in Madrid Corridor, tried to simulate fluroscent lights in the ceiling and halloweeinize it a little :)

6ix: I can only say one thing: Get it! It is so much fun, and that comes from a dude who mostly builds technic :) Today's build is an architecture version of the coming Ghostbusters Firestation Headquarters set. I am happy how the lower part turned out, but had some building stress at the upper parts and had to make a lot of shortcuts and compromises. And yes, if you look closely you can see that I only built one out of four walls
