  1. Yes, please! There's something similar in GMail called "mute" (never see this email thread again) and it's the one feature I use more than anything else, at work. Being able to say "OK, seen this thread, it's about X which I've no interest for" would go a long way! So I'm not the only one resorting to the site:eurobricks.com trick. Well, here's something admins could use you turn EB's search box into exactly that: Google Custom Search. You can give it a try in my (mostly abandoned) blog at miguev.net, it even has suggestions (start typing "en").
  2. Yes! Thank you for (finally) speaking up for MiniZip as it's just like SBrick, i.e. 3rd-party parts that came out of Kickstarter :) I have something like that in mind, but I don't think I'll be able to build anything. What do I do if I think I have a nice idea but won't have a change to build it? Share it here? Wait to see if someone comes up with it independently? I'm up for the latter.
  3. Thanks Max, I just did something you (and others) may like: please (it looks terrible embedded).I reckon this won't live up to the expectations, but I'm afraid I don't have better footage just yet, it'll take me at least a few more weeks for that. The whole point of this truck is the soft suspension, with plenty of travel and body roll, I hope that can be appreciated in the video. Any comments about my video editing skills (ahem) will be much appreciated, please leave them there in YouTube or PM me.
  4. I'd love to see an good outdoor shot of this one. So much I might try one day :) Got it. Thanks! Some more here That's what I'm talking about! Natural light, low sun for better textures, low angle of view for a more dominant subject... and of course a very nice model
  5. I'm not sure "underage" is an accurate term for the kind of posts we'd like to see fewer of, maybe "underthought"? Regardless of age, posting without thinking through it is quite common, I think people are being just spontaneous not knowing they may annoy others. A gentle reminder from about how it's better done would likely be appreciated by everybody, and maybe not-so-gentle reminders for recurrent suspects? It's a difficult balance to strike. My sentiment exactly. (says the guy who made the worst of all BJ Baldwin trucks (4) so far, and doesn't even have a video of it) I'd appreciate a +1 button I could hit on comments to second them, and wouldn't mind it at all if my username shows up there. Most of the times I react privately to content here (I let a "wow" come out) but then find myself unable to express my opinion / impression / feelings in an original way, so I refrain from posting and move on. Very often I'd love to +1 someone's comment rather than quote it with "My sentiment exactly" (as much as I love using that quote).
  6. Wow that's some serious steering lock! I love it when the bus knocks the bus stop down and then backtracks to step on it one more time
  7. I keep wondering why is this the Year of the BJ Baldwin Trophy Truck. I suspect those lime rims have something to do with it, most (3/4) models use them. I'm enjoying the diversity though, this one seems to use only LEGO parts currently in production, which I think makes it affordable for more people than other models using Buggy motors, SBrick, LEGO RC system, MiniZip, etc. On the down side, I'd say the suspension is too stiff and it drives relatively slow for this kind of vehicle. Still a good compromise overall, and looks great!
  8. While I agree there's been a trend of these low-value topics lately, I have to voice disagreement with specific criticism: not everybody likes everything, so please don't jump to the conclusion that something is generally inappropriate for this forum just because you and a few others don't like it. Omikron's thread for TC6 was actually a breeze of fresh air to me and likely many others. It brought in an unusual sense of humor that I found enjoyable, and you can see it got quite some positive feedback. I do hope to see more of his comics, either embedded here or just linked from here, and I really hope I don't have to go somewhere else to get his updates. These days, whenever I have time to kill (which is rare) I open a tab in my browser, press "e", hit Enter and boom! I'm here. I know I will not remember to check any other site, no matter how well aware am I of them (sariel.pl, nico71.fr, etc.) so I love it that they post their stuff here too. I wouldn't like to see Omikron's comics or other enjoyable-although-not-all-tech content be left out. Teasers are another good example: some like them some don't. Just make sure your model is finished (otherwise it's a WIP), mark the topic as such and those who don't like them can ignore them. There's not that many anyway For TC7 threads, I agree there're a few threads that tell too little, what's the rush in posting? Do you really need to be the first one to post the Galaxy Killer name? Nothing in the rules say two models can't have the same name, right?
  9. There are tons of good photography in this Technic forum, what do you want in this thread exactly? I thought of starting one for "gorgeous photos you'd put up on your wall", inspired by Lucio's idea of having a slideshow in a digital picture frame. I'm personally fond on outside shots, like VKTechnic's mustang or your opening shot here. In these, natural light plays an important role. Anyway, here's mine (BMW R-12):
  10. Thanks for the write up, and congrats on that 2nd place! Glad to hear nipples survived, I'm sure I'll use them when I get to trial trucks some day... Enjoy your yummy spinach puree
  11. Well done! Hilarious and impressive
  12. Me too, I'm running out of space in the 90 x 120 cm piece of wall I can use for storage
  13. Nicely done, although that front grille could look better. I gotta say, overall this model doesn't like look nearly as good as your 795F, but I'm super-happy to see a Technic figure scale bus, they are rare! I want to build one some day and I think it'll be really hard, so I applaud you for this one!
  14. It's not that hard, I just found it a bit trickier than expected to align the bushes right when inserting the 3L tan axles. But then again, my average of 4 hours sleep per day may be at blame
  15. Great idea, I don't see why it wouldn't be legal, if anything it's a bit hard to put together but it seems to hold pretty well. I just built this and put a Unimog tyre on it, supercar tyres look better.
  16. The rear edge of the rudder might move but has no control, and I don't see anything retractable in the floats. Looks like there's a nice detail though: as you roll the plane on the floor the propeller will turn. And where's the water?
  17. Oh well, if we count photo and video making, then filming anything is currently near impossible to me (to have time for) so it jumps to the 1st place as the hardest thing to get done
  18. Please report back once the race is finished. Oh, and "pics or it never happened!"
  19. Like others said: finding time, front axle, battery box, bodywork, and calling it a day!
  20. I just realized you're using 8070's portals with CV joins in the Inverno, no? How is it doing with high torque stress, do CV joins pop up often or rarely?
  21. Yes, and so did rm8 (Double Trouble). Needless to say, I didn't aspire to be at their level, this is only my 2nd finished MOC
  22. Oh I can't wait to see what this is all about... things with wheels that turn into things that need no wheels? Looking forward to it
