Discussion Should LEGO make a Military Theme?
Itaria No Shintaku replied to KisKatona's topic in Special LEGO Themes
Sharks are not built to kill. Guns are. You really do not get my point. I'll try again to explain it. I do fail in understanding why someone would like to build a tank or a modern warfare scenario. I would like best to build a giant Duplo banana instead. I am not judging what they can teach to children or not. I just simply say: I would never build such a MOC and I fail to understand which reasons lie behind such a choice. Take this as an example: there was a very nice City layout at my last Legofest a week ago, then there was this truck carrying a tank. Despite how accurate the tank could have been, I felt that totally unappropriate. I feel disturbed, and again, you are no one to judge how I should feel. The matter here is: will TLG produce modern warfare sets? No. Will TLG produce religion related sets? No. Do I find the first a shame? No. Do I find the second a shame? Yes. Do I care? No, because there's plenty other themes to play with. I also fail to understand why this topic gets revived over and over again, and we chat always about the very same thing. I have never read the same affection for, say, Volleyball. TLG never produced a Volleyball set, never produced a Volleyball player, but yet nobody cares. And the worse is that TLG COULD actually produce such, instead for its policy it will not produce war themes. I hope my point is clear now. -

Actually, this makes no sense: cars kill thousands times what sharks can. You picked up a strange example. But not shark nor cars are intended to kill people, this is the point you seem not to get. And again, I expressed myself properly. I said that I fail to understand, maybe someone else can understand. I do fail. My bad. I find army/military/guns MOCs offending. Blame me. What can I do? It's not that I decide what offends me and what not. What can I do? I simply do fail in understanding which reasons can lead someone who has lego pieces into building military stuff. Perhaps you would have troubles in understanding what could lead someone to buy only big duplo yellow pieces and build a titanic banana. I would praise a giant duplo banana more than the most accurate tank MOC. That's my opinion. I don't feel like you can blame me for that. -

In my opinion, INCLUDING such theme is a shame. By the way, luckily enough, this is just chit chatting as TLG will never produce such themes. This shares my thoughts. I actually, despite how accurate it can be, prefere a duplo MOC than any tank, guns, or any modern warfare MOC. I totally fail in understanding what can someone lead, among all that one's mind can produce, to recreate tanks or guns. Really. -

It wouldn't change a thing. It would be however the worse move Lego could have done in its history. Besides, there are a lot of Architecture sets that are discarded because they have something religious within it. Even if the best buildings in the world are religion related, I'm ok that I would miss those sets as long as this is TLG's policy. -
Discussion Should LEGO make a Military Theme?

Oh I am very happy that you judge me, because: 1) I see supermen and people from planet Krypton every day, so -yes- I can call that modern warfare. 2) All archeologists I know go along collecting treasures with a nice hat and call themselves after a dog. And they mess with the Ark of the Coventant and the Saint Graal of course. So yes, I can call that modern warfare too. Did it even cross your mind that: A - Military figures in those temes are THE EVIL (In a WW2 or war theme, there would be like for castles, two factions in war, so one faction should be military and "good") B - People can reason differently from you and you not understanding their reasons could make you silly, not them. I find that this: very fitting, and it leads me to think that it's no mystery that one from England such as Gnac, one from Italy such as me and one from Germany such as Darth Dino are against... and typycally americans are for it: think about it. When your country will suffer within its boundaries the very misery of war itself, you won't find war that funny any more, you have my word. I feel very offended from posts like that before, really. -

They probably would, and LEGO NOT doing this even though they would earn a lot of money from them is one of the main reasons I still buy Lego. Probably if Lego would produce WW2 toys, I would stop being an AFOL instantly. -
You can call me nitpicky for wanting to change a topic's name, but actually I could call you stubborn for your willing to call it the wrong way even if you acknowledge Simpsons won't be Series 13. And yes, I prefere nitpicky than stubborn.

Disney Princess 2014 Rumors & Discussion

No it doesn't depend. Market sales are data. They sold a lot, and more girls are now into Lego due to this gender-oriented toys. -

Actually this has brought a lot of girls into the Lego products that wouldn't have otherwise. -

I believe in the opposite. I firmly believe that flattening the gargantuan differences that biologically exist between woman and man, THAT is an artificial construct of this society. Women and men have different skills, different brains, thus they are addressed to different products. Society is leaning towards something forcing all left-hand users to use the right hand to flatten diversity. There's some sort of global robotization of the human being, and nullifying differences between man and woman is part of the process. -
Still this topic has a wrong name as Series 13 and The Simpsons are different things.

Your own Lego Universe
Itaria No Shintaku replied to TheLazyChicken's topic in General LEGO Discussion
Actually, I was a maniac. I had a full story going on about my Lego characters since I was a very young kid, and I stopped when I entered my dark age. I have three giant ring binders collecting all the 500+ stories of every single minifig I had. Most are just supporting characters, but a wide hundred have a real detailed story. It's a post-apocalypting scenario in which castle, space, pirates, ninja, western and city live all together, fighting an evil lord and his brickbuilt robot minions. Of course this evil lord is the brother of one of the main characters. Who is the police chief in the main city, also. It's a very long story I can't surely post it in here, but I have pictures af all the minifigures, since I made every single one a shot with my camera. Well... -

Another logical fallacy, now we went to "Ad Hominem" attacks. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ad_hominem I begged you to please answer my question, but seems you are more able in insulting than in having a point. I have asked this topic to be locked, due to someone being clearly unable to have a peaceful conversation, and finding nothing to do but insulting people. Well, actually there will also be something I know nothing about. Being this something "good reasons to be so hateful" as you are. I never insulted you. Mind your manners and attitude. We are in a forum talking about a toy and a hobby that should tie us together, not bringing us apart. A vast majority of people repeated what the OP posted: this article can surely be considered silly and facticious. Issues are other things. And I know about feminism a lot. But I am indeed happy to meet someone with a crystal ball who can tell what I know and I do not know without knowing who I am and judging me by three posts. -
Ebay frauds for Benny
Itaria No Shintaku replied to Itaria No Shintaku's topic in General LEGO Discussion
No, surely not, but in the meantime there is no doubt this person is selling one minifig for 25 times its auctual value only due to some people being terribly naive. -
I am really disgusted. There is plenty on ebay of people selling normal blue space guys as Benny. Some are even using heads which printings recall the one of the movie like http://www.ebay.it/itm/LEGO-Movie-Benny-1980-something-Space-Guy-Minifigure-Blue-Astronaut-w-smile-head-/201041224325?pt=Building_Toys_US&hash=item2ecefda285 and saying Benny has got cracked helmet in the movie, but this figure's helmet isn't cracked (we have no heart to crack a good condition rare helmet), so if the new owner want to make this helmet authentic, he/she have to crack it... Isn't this a fraud?

I would add just one more. Staying in the "feminism field", there are real sexist issues still in this world that prevent girls and women from being treated as men are. This article ridiculizes and belittles the feminist and anti-sexist movements, because if someone wishes to approach these ideas, it could be really misleaded by such silly and nonsense issues. -

Debunking this one by one. It talks about OFFENSIVE things. Thinner waists and breasts on minifigures are not offensive. Are there more chanches that a girl will have an hourglass shape instead of a boy? YES. Are there more chanches that a girl will have breasts instead of a boy? YES. There are also minifigures with other torso characteristics like: so all sumo wrestlers should feel offended because they are represented as fat? Or so all surfers shoul feel offended because they are stereotyped as super muscular? Does this harm normal-shaped or fat surfers? This is not a gender issue because it is NOT AN ISSUE. See point 1. This doesn't apply in any way and you put it here without reading what you linked, or so it seems. This is the most idiotic and stupid thing I have ever read. A male will be never able to experience something about a female, because if he is a male he cannot be a female. What? YOU DERAILED. I just wrote examples about toys, and you purposedly ignored the first part. You would have been right if I just put the last three lines of my comment, but SURPRISE I did not. -

Which is all but the last one about: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Self-pity whereas those links come from a "geek feminism" site, which doesn't absolutely surprise me for the total non NPOV of the subjects. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Neutral_point_of_view Instead what you are doing is focusing on my last three sentences, leaving the rest of the message totally apart. This has been already pointed out so many times as one of the most common logical fallacies as: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cherry_picking_%28fallacy%29 Oh, and FYI, my links are from wikipedia, which is neutral ;) -

YOUR idea. Not an absolute. To me it's silly, a waste of time. We're talking about a toy. People thinking that a toy doest this much should also think that: Whoever plaied with HE-MAN (like me) should feel bad if he has not 200 kgs of muscles. Well actually I am fat and I don't care about making a shape. Whoever plaied with toy soldiers (like me) is more war-inclined. Well I am actually against war in any form, and I don't like even playing war videogames Whoever plaied a lot with baby dolls will become a better mother. My teenage was filled with japanese fighting cartoon like Hokuto no Ken, or Saint Seyia. I plaied Street Fighter all the time. But I am a very peaceful person, I play volleyball not fighting arts, and I am considered to mantain a very kind peaceful and calm attitude. All these polemic and hate attitude towards a toy is just limiting freedomof expression. You don't like minifigures with thin waists and breasts? You don't buy them. End of discussion. With all racial hate, real sexism, homophobia, hunger, slavery-like condition in the world, I feel disgusted when I read people wasting their time in such a nonsense debate. -

Remember that this is your humble opinion. To me the article IS silly and has absolutely no valid points. Gender equality doesn't mean that you can use women where you can use men and vice versa. This is gender flatting. Genders have differences. It's scientific. Men and women have biological differences in their brains. It's silly to think that they are exactly the same. It could have been thought centuries ago when our scientific and biological progress was not the one we have now. Men aren't better than woman, nor vice versa. They are simply different. Deeply different. What's better? A good meal or a good slept? It just depens on if you're hungry or tired. -

I totally agree. People should have really no money or hunger or any issue of any kind in their life if they focus on such facticious, non-existing problems. -

I totally agree. Plus I acknoweldge to be seen as "harsh" often, as I am used to tell what I think and if a MOC isn't beautiful and I am asked a critic, I will say that I do not like it. I may say something like "well, someone may like it but that's not me". I have left a deviantart group about Lego in a polite way, just telling that I was seeing too much ugly stuff. People posted whatever 3-4 pieces attached together and demanded people to stare in awe their MOCs. Seems like people is just scaling MOCs or sets from Good to Excellent. In my humble opinion, TLC has decreased both quality of sets and of plastic. But since they are top seller, probably they are right and I am wrong. Sorry for the long OT.
