  1. This series is just fantastic. Each one is so thoughtfully and elegantly arranged, utilizing all the space in a purposeful way.
  2. Those brick-built smithing tools turned out great, and I love how you show the whole process from start to finish. I don't know if you're interested in the University of Petraea Doctorate of Historica program, but this looks like a good candidate for a Trade and Law: Manufacturing credit. I love how shiny and clean the building itself is, clearly showing that it's newly constructed. Nice interiors, too. Overall, a beautifully-thought-out build.
  3. I love the title of this topic, though, like robuko, I was surprised not to see any blood. The visual texture you've created is just gorgeous. The second floor in particular has such nice part and color choices.
  4. This is great! Love the build; love the story.
  5. Thanks! I used arched pieces and cheeses here, so there's no way to use smaller slopes on this one, but that's definitely something I'll keep in mind on future trees! Thank you! Thanks y'all. A path is a good idea; perhaps the next Gardens build will have one! Thank you robuko! I like the sand green cheese too -- I need to get more! And I really appreciate your thoughts on the lack of mini figure -- such a great perspective. Thank you!
  6. The figs look very Avalonian; it's great you found a good use for pieces you dislike. The Captain's torso doesn't bother me. While I can see why some see ribs, to me it looks like lacing.
  7. Nicely done! I like that little well.
  8. Welcome, kbcakir! Awesome sigfig and great story.
  9. Good idea, Kai! I'll have to try that.
  10. Thanks y'all! I'm glad you're digging the golden ratio. Thanks! I'm not familiar with Dragon Age Origins, but I do know Pi. Brilliant movie that I never want to see again. I hope this picture answers your question: It's a brick-built skirt, using a jumper plate to add some range of motion. The regular minifig skirts are so clunky and un-poseable. My workaround can look a bit wonky from the side, but let's say she's wearing a very blousy shirt and a very slim skirt.
  11. This is awesome, kabel. Thank you so much for putting this together. I'm looking forward to playing with this. Your tutorial definitely motivated me to start really getting into SNOT rocks, studying the work of the Great Masters, and working with the bricks. MassEditor, that's a gorgeous example.
  12. Thanks Simon! Thank you! The Da Vinci Code was a fun book, wasn't it? Thanks! Yeah, It's not the most original name for the breed.
  13. Thanks Lord Vladivus! Good question; I probably should have clarified. The golden ratio, also called the golden mean and the golden section, is the ratio of 1:1.618 (approximately). It's found throughout nature, for example in nautilus shells, face proportions, and more. It's often used in art and architecture, for example, the Parthenon and the works of Le Corbusier. The spiral/rectangle overlay in red, in the second picture, is a graphical representation of the ratio.
  14. Very nicely done! I like the use of the Lesser Dragon!
  15. Just a small build: A Quiet Moment at the Atelier
  16. Siedna takes a break from construction of the Atelier to spend a bit of time with Calder, her Belville mastiff. The Belville Mastiff is a rare, ancient breed of dog, bred and trained by Ruadhi artists to serve as loyal companions and protectors. Over time, they've become a symbol of Atelier Ruadh and its artists throughout Historica. (For the purists: yes, that dog is actually a LEGO-produced piece. It's from the old Belville sets.) Just a small, simple build, for now. While I was working out the proportions of the Atelier, I wanted to check the scale of the building with a minifigure, and ended up with this little scene. The building itself is still very much a WIP. It's loosely based on a local Art Deco building built in 1931, but I think this version works nicely here in GoH. I've proportioned the building to somewhat fit the golden ratio. As always, comments and constructive criticism are most welcome!
  17. Thanks for your kind words! I didn't mean to make things difficult! You know I'm cool with whatever you and the other esteemed guildmembers decide.
  18. Yep, I'd be very interested!
  19. This is gorgeous. The rockwork, the texturing, the color choices, the elevation changes, the bridge, the waterfall, that base! It's all just stunning.
  20. Thank you for the +1! Thanks Mike! The tree is still a bit clunky. I have a feeling we'll be seeing different iterations of the Joshua tree in upcoming builds; I don't think it's done with me yet.
  21. Usually, this much monochrome would be bothersome to me, but it really fits the setting and the mood. You have such marveleous detailing, like the crosses and the modified plates on the mausoleum and the clips on top of the wall.
  22. Beautifully detailed, well-thought-out build! I really enjoy this one.
  23. Good point!
  24. Nice clean build!
