Advice on displaying a layout at a local train show
ritztoys replied to ecmo47's topic in LEGO Train Tech
@ ecmo47........ thanks for asking these questions and the EB community for responding. In a few weeks I'll be displaying at Brickworld Indy. ( this will be my second year ) But this year will be my first showing my 9volt train layout! All of the suggestions I've read here are helping me be better prepared, to expect the best and prepare for the worst. Do I really have to have a 'train bucket'? "Oh the thought.................... my train running off of the table" Our host provides tables, chairs and barriers, we just have to put everything together, as last year.............. I'm very excited to show again. -
You Rock Ingmar! I went to my account and 'played' with the BI, as you said both copies of the BI are there, thank-you so much............it all makes sense now! Oh yes, I hoping not to need Bricklink, as I have a lot of White bricks that hopefully will support v2.0 changes, without any outside orders.

Lego Serial Numbers?
ritztoys replied to DrJB's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
D3K..........when TLG had the problem with the LAs in the 8043 kits, folks as myself wrote their customer service for what to do. They asked about this code on my kits, and in return they sent me free of charge a bag containing all the new LAs. ( haven't used them, I prefer the 'old style' ) -
Thanks Ingmar for your reply. I'm two weeks away from my display time, don't know if I can change/up-grade this original beauty to your v2.0 version. ( It was just something I was thinking about after your message ) Are your BI changed, or are you going to offer two different BI? ( I kind of went through them in a hurry, also noting the parts list ) It appears the body work and interior changes have been made? As one of your many followers, who purchased the v1.0 BI, will I get a link or will I get access to v2.0 BI?

Ingmar......... I'm thinking of changing this fantastic build, do you possibly have a list of the additional parts needed to 'up-grade' the version V.1 to the V.2 version? I'm guessing the chassis is still the same? Just thinking in advance, maybe change this before this years' Brickworld Indy display? Thanks

Lego Serial Numbers?
ritztoys replied to DrJB's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
DrJB, I purchased two 8043's together, when Lego was selling faulty kits. Both of the #'s match on the 'bar code' area of both copies I have, didn't give it much thought. Any ideas? -
Blakbird, You have given all Technic Builders an excellent review of Designer-Hans' crane, especially the cut-away views with great explanations! Everyone will enjoy building this model, you just made everyone....... :wub_drool: The details you provided are 'spot on', as you said this model is "well worth it". ( No matter what color is chosen )

Future Builders, This type of construction equipment is my favorite and Han has captured it with great 'playability' perfectly. When I was younger and working 9 to 5, I operated a crane very similar to this and every function he designed into this MOC is like the real deal! IMHO the free-fall system is a great design and the bucket does as it should, falling to the material and dragging that next load into the bucket, where you can control both bucket "ropes" and keep your bucket in a horizontal position ( not losing the load ) Han also uses a small wheel under the superstructure to take the strain off of the turntable and the slewing operation is very smooth, no jerking or bouncing. The crawling speed is just right for this kind of equipment too, you must remember that this type of crane rarely moves its' location, but this with all that boom and bucket moves very smoothly. Again with no bouncing or jerking. The model is very solid and quite strong, not that I'm going to lift something heavy. If the builder decides to lift something heavy, using the 'double rope' system it will lift that load, unless you turn it over lifting too much. The BI are very clear and easy to follow, anyone who decides to build this will find that even a beginner in Technic models can put this together. Thank-you Han for a great design, oh did I forget...............this MOC is beautiful to look at too!

Those switches look really great  , care to share any of your assembly on this project? I'm a huge fan of 9V and currently have extra switches, really wanting to change my layout and use something like this.
-
Your home is looking better , will it ever be in real bricks? I'm not very good at LLD, I can build from it, just not design with it. I spend too much time on the PC anyway, unless your BI are there in front of you, on that PC! ( then I'm there all day long )

As 'Captain Braunsfeld' said............ "You are becoming the store expert!" I agree completely, all your 'store' MOCs are fantastic. You must have 1000's of small pieces to create all the details you build inside and out of your creations. Keep up your great work.............maybe I'll ' borrow ' some of your ideas for my creations. ( Surest form of a compliment )

Guys and Gals............Thank-you very much, the compliments will keep my designing fingers busy and my mind to develop a third house, I have a couple of ideas ' brewing ' @ Off the wall............That's the nicest compliment  , do you really think other folks would want to build this? @ true brick love...........Thanks, no real place in mind. I used to live in the tropics and the houses reflect what I could easily live in @ alexb420.............Thanks again, I try to improve every MOC I build. Who knows what I'll come with next. ( sent you a PM ) @ ItsaBRICKS.........No, unfortunately not. I haven't tried putting both together ( for photo shoot ), space is kinda tight. They will be together as part of my Lego Subdivision. @ Henk61.............Thank-you, as you requested.........http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=85595&hl= It took me forever to originally find this, saved to my desktop!

Thanks............. D3K deserves the thanks for designing this loader, it so very different from any loader I've seen. I use this great MOC as my " Loader Demonstrator " during my display at my local Lug show in March every year. I just needed a larger bucket to WOW the public better, it can hold more Lego Boulders.

@ eckarty............Thank-you, I worked on this for awhile to get " that style ", don't know what it is but kinda of Tropical/Pacific/Beach type feeling. @ Captain Braunsfeld .............I worked at adding those interior details, very important to my buildings.... , thank-you @ Off The Wall...........Thank-you very much, I wasn't trying, just a little anal....... @ lightningtiger.............Thank-you.......... from a master builder as yourself

Hello Builders, I've had this MOC for awhile and felt the original bucket looked too small, so I added the Volvo Bucket New installation next to former assembly Full 'back' tip in upper most position Full 'dump' position Front view, looks good in my book One good looking side view I had no issues changing the bucket, but wanted to retain the original bucket arms with all the gearing for the LAs My problem was I spent several hours re-engineering the geometries for the bucket operation to full up to full down without "locking up", and I succeeded. I used a 2 each of a 2 x 4 liftarm inside of the bucket attachment points and faced the 2x forward allowing additional tipping angle, this made all the difference. Also fulcrum points were lengthened to make full movements of the bucket, I can't tell how many times I built and re-built this to get everything working right!

Thanks everyone for your comments............ @ BrickRally217 The tree was assembled using a tutorial by EB member MikeS @ GCO This house was configured to be longer than square as my last house is. I tried the 'stepping stones' several ways and decided on this layout @ Hereticae Thank-you very much for your comment. I know this isn't really a modular so to speak, but I'll have several in my Lego subdivision and those houses need a little room @ Mazin Thanks...........I could too.............the wife wanted to move right in. Better start saving bricks, maybe a few million, I'd be happy to start building for you

My second house can be found here, a link in the first post

I submitted this MOC to Lego Ideas, please vote and support my home, thanks. https://ideas.lego.com/projects/91719 May I present my second house for my Lego Subdivision.................C & C Welcome Front view Side view Back Side Other side w/back door entrance Back door detail with garden inside and out Front garden First floor Laundry area under stairway Improved bathroom/loo area Back door inside garden Kitchen and the 'day after' on the table ( I had finished this on new years' day, my table looked like this ) Second floor I hope you folks enjoyed this house, I tried to keep my building style in this house similar to the first one. http://www.eurobrick...pic=103361&st=0I need to recapture my building design and hope to have a third house in the near future

Bricksafe is working now...............updates to the floor plan Chair and floor lamp added, piano went downstairs Piano on first floor with comfortable chair nearby I'd put in more furniture, but floor plan is kinda small, I'll save that for the next MOC
-
@ alexb420....... Yes my new house is a similar style. The wife made a suggestion on the new house, it should have a Lanai' off of the bedroom. @ eckarty........I was going to post an improved inside layout, but Bricksafe isn't working today. @ Loves Houses...........Thanks for the compliment. My Lego Subdivision has some very interesting landscaping scattered about, don't know who the landscaping company is! If I could I would live there, but alas it's only in my mind! From the earlier suggestions, I made some furniture changes as well as get rid of that 'hidden wall/door' for the loo, but Bricksafe isn't working today so I can't post pictures.

This looks very good, but the size of your house will make your wallet hurt. When you include all the details this MOC should have, it will be an outstanding creation. I was a little surprised how much my homes cost, but who adds up $$ when your building and enjoying your hobby. I know when I receive complements from my MOC, I just am inspired to build more............. The only thing to suggest on floor coverings is to maybe add a design in the floors with tiles or use Brown tiles to look like a wood floor. Also the brick between the upper and lower window sills, doesn't appear to work with the rest of the house, maybe different windows or taller ones, just an observation.( I'm not that experienced to help here) The furniture will use up a lot of ( in my book ) slopes and other pieces I never considered using before. Good Luck in your new home to be!

Thank-you alexb420. To answer your question..........No, I still have it built. I'm currently working on a 2nd home and it is coming along nicely, the two will look fantastic ( imho ) together. I'll post pictures in a few days of Home # 2.
