  1. Hmm, I have a lot of unused codes. I'm not planning on selling them. Do they correspond to the minifig that it came with, or are they all random? I can figure out which MF bag each came in, but I'd rather not of course. :)
  2. I don't think it is possible. LEGO is probably limited by the market (consumer interest/demand) above all else.
  3. Perhaps the sale is over early. It is November 30th and they are $0.89.
  4. Profit margin is a ratio (often indicated as a percentage) of net profits over the cost of selling. I don't understand what a profit margin of $3+ means, or the range in the $3 scenario vs "flat" in the $4 scenario. There are a lot of other factors besides just pure profits, though. Shelf space is a HUGE deal. I've seen more than one company destroyed because a competitor wants a few more feet of shelf space at Target. Target or TRU might be happy if the MSRP on a square foot increased by 33%. But back to the figs, TLG wouldn't be "losing" money. At worst they wouldn't be gaining as much money as before. Consider this: $1/ea cost 3 @ $3/ea = $9 ($6 profit, $3 overhead) 67% profit margin 2 @ $4/ea = $8 ($6 profit, $2 overhead) 75% profit margin $8 is less than $9, but the quantity is less, overhead is less, and profit is the same. In other words, by raising the price 1/3, they could make, distribute, and sell 2/3 of the number of items, with a 1/3 reduction in overhead, to make the same amount of profit. Figure in supply and demand where demand continues to grow, justifying a higher price and/or an increase in supply (which results in a lower cost per unit) to meet the demand: Using the same quantities as above: $1/ea cost 3 @ $3/ea = $9 ($6 profit, $3 overhead) 67% profit margin $0.75/ea cost 2 @ $4/ea = $8 ($6.50 profit, $1.50 overhead) 81% profit margin But we need to take into account the same or higher demand: $1/ea cost 3 @ $3/ea = $9 ($6 profit, $3 overhead) 67% profit margin $0.75/ea cost 3 @ $4/ea = $12 ($9.50 profit, $2.25 overhead) 81% profit margin They really are not losing any money by raising prices.
  5. Please don't misquote me as writing something I didn't. ("B/c its clearly an error that needs to be corrected! Series 12 isnt supposed to be on clearance especially taking into account the things haven't been in that states for more then a month!")
  6. Previously, you would have spent $165+ for 55+ figs. In the future, you will spend about the same amount for 40 figs. How is greater profit a loss for LEGO?
  7. Exo Suit
  8. Wait, you mean that isn't normal? Mine do that all the time. :D
  9. I love the EV3 amp, especially with the LEDs as the glowing valves/tubes. :)
  10. That's great! I like the tree and its shadow. :)
  11. In my experience with a few of the business card holder sets, half of the minifig's hardhats do not clutch to the heads. They will fall off if you tip the minifig.
  12. USA is just now getting Friends' Series 5 animals. Wasn't that available in the UK six months ago?
  13. I've learned to expect the complete opposite.
  14. It isn't just about stealing. Some people will rip bags open instead of checking dots or feeling.
  15. The first version goes back to about 1970. I only know about it because an older friend (who knows about these things) pointed out the "LT1" on the hood of a Corvette. He was really surprised and impressed. It stuck with me.
  16. This is very possible. With a population of more than 100 students in which one received 0%, the rest could receive 1% and still be above average. Even with adjustments (curves, median, etc.), the school's average could still be above the average of other schools, districts, country, etc. Exactly. This is often why the median is more significant than the mean.
  17. Excellent post!
  18. The criminals deserve 100% of the blame. LEGO and the retailer weren't "asking for it" in any way. That is classic victim blaming.
  19. Category A: #12 #8 #9 Category B: #6 #4 #3
  20. Maybe this will help in development and for screenshots: http://www.ticalc.org/programming/emulators/software.html
  21. I love it! That Brickarms pistol would work. Are you going for a total of 16 to make your own CMF line? :)
  22. The answer is in what you quoted in your post! You need to put the youtube URL between the media and /media bbcode tags. Make sure you use http, not https. Here is an example: [media]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eIM-M1sGv6c[/media]
  23. There is a link in the OP but here it is embedded:
  24. If there is only one kind in each cup, then they might be leftovers from earlier PAB selections. Sometimes I ask an employee if they have anything in a particular color or shape, or if they have any leftovers that I didn't have a chance to get the last time I was in, and they pull those out. If they are mixed, then someone probably started filling it and then changed their mind (by themselves or parents).
