  1. I don't think he wants to modify the application. It sounds like he is looking for better rendering options of his models. Jordanbellamy, Something like POV-Ray might be what you are looking for. Check out How to apply custom decals on LDD renders. Here is a link to a general tutorial: Rendering LDraw models using POV-Ray
  2. Very, very cool!
  3. One time I had a class evaluate everyone else's projects for a contest. They each had to pick the three best projects. They could not pick their own. The first would receive three points, the second would receive two points, and the third would receive one point. Rubrics could work well too except that would probably get too complicated in a situation like this. But the idea isn't bad. Have a few criteria (followed rules, aesthetics, etc.) and then grade it on the three point scale like Good old Lego builder mentioned.
  4. Ahh yes, you're correct! (I had to check my receipts. There was a $76 purchase and the free Shredder was the last item. )
  5. The Shredder minifig was the $100 $75 prize in July. (Edit: It was $75 not $100)
  6. I was interested in white pieces until I spent about 15 seconds at the PaB wall. There were definitely two different tints of white. I've bought about two big containers per week this summer and noticed variations among several hues, too.
  7. Considering there is no associated theme/universe (except cuusoo/Ideas), the box and book are higher quality, a portion goes to the original designer, etc., I'm ok with $20 instead of $15. If this was licensed from a particular movie and at the same price point, I would expect a lot less.
  8. ... and a great soundtrack!
  9. Hi Sean! I'm new too but welcome! :)
  10. Just fyi, it says the folder is not yet public.
  11. The MINI was available in stores on July 18th for VIPs. I'm hoping the Tumbler will be in stores this month on the 18th, too.
  12. Everyone had two in their hands but were told there was a one-per-family restriction so we each had to put one back.
  13. I agree with others that it is very close to classic or neo-classic. I like it as-is or even if it used different colors, opening it up to the broader microship MOCs. Whatever you choose to do, please put it up on Ideas.
  14. This is great! I'm interested in making some terrain like this someday. I especially like that octopus.
  15. I liked the Trevi Fountain but went for the UN Building at 20% off. Lots of cool stuff at the LEGO store today. Too much.
  16. I was refreshing a few minutes before midnight eastern US time and eventually was able to order mine as soon as it let me add it to my bag. My order still says "In Process". I checked back a few minutes after the order and that is when it officially became available. People are saying theirs are shipping while I haven't received confirmation my order was successful. It is ok if it takes a little longer - I just hope it goes through.
  17. The mass always increases, making it more challenging to add another layer each time. Another approach would be to have the assembler always climbing up one level like this concept does but not return to the ground to get more. It could be fed by some kind of conveyer which brings segments to it, always queued and at the ready for the assembler. But that would increase the complexity significantly and introduce new problems. Edit: Went to the LEGO Store tonight. Been thinking about hknssn's project all day. Managed... to... stay... strong.
  18. Thanks! Within an hour of signing up, LEGO Acquisition Syndrome kicked in like it never has before. This is a cool group of people sharing a lot of cool projects!
  19. I'm going to wait until I see one in person. I love black and the idea of black lego for this, but in reality it can be very tricky.
  20. This is very cool! I told myself to stay away from Mindstorms because my little lego problem would get exponentially worse. This isn't helping. LOL
  21. This is often true. I'd like to add that they not only write well, but they understand the importance of a well-written message. I do know what you mean about the introduction and closing signature, but it ends up acting the same as the forum signature block for me - eventually it becomes a graphical pattern that identifies who it is even if I don't read it over and over. For example, "Dear Users" and "If you were a pirate" eventually become something I recognize as "this message is written by Legoman19892." It eventually doesn't matter how people sign their message. I will still recognize the author. But I will always appreciate good grammar. :)
  22. Wow! That is very inspiring. In the video, are you demonstrating how the power can be distributed to the front and/or rear axles?
  23. Hello everyone. My Dark Ages finally ended in June after a very long time. Since I'm interested in just about everything, I look forward to chatting and learning a lot from you all.
