  1. I've added a lighthouse based on set 6265. Here's a bit of an overview. Here's a video of the lighthouse update, with a bonus peek at my slaughterhouse... I just realized that i should put the top part of the lighthouse on 1x2 plates with the one centered stud on top so it doesn't tilt over at one side like that.
  2. I agree that it's strange that the address is still on the banner here in the town forum. Is there anyone who can change banner?
  3. It looks good. I think it needs some more colors. Maybe it just needs curtains for the windows and a sign or flags or something on the roof?
  4. Thanks for all the comments! Here's an update. I bought 6 new blue baseplates so I could get a beach on the side of Soltown for people to hang out at. I've also given the hotel and the shop signs. The Mexican band is celebrating this. Here's a video.
  5. Does it fit a minifig?
  6. Personally I've heard that half of the population of humans on this planet are female, so I would like to see that representation in the Lego sets I buy. I bought set 60003 and the female firefighter has a smile and lipstick on its face but the two male firefighters have faces with sweat and more gritty looking. Why couldn't the female figure have that to? But in set 4432 it works really well. I like the Friends sets also, but I would like to have a more realistic representation of gender in at least the creator and town sets. For the more violent themes it makes sense that it's mostly male minifigs since women aren't raised to be as violent.
  7. I think this is great. Maybe a small airplane on the front to accompany the clouds?
  8. Hello Europe and the World! My name is Mikael Sol and I've been an AFOL since 1999 when the Star Wars sets came out. I was 18 then so I was born in 1981. I got my first Lego set when I was 2 years old and most of my Lego from when I was a kid is in good condition still. I'm from Sweden which is north of Denmark. Since 2011 I live in Malmö which is only a couple of minutes from Denmark if you go by train over the bridge. I've only been to Legoland in Billund one time, back in 2006 and it cost me about 600 Euro. I'm hope to go there again in August this year if it still is open. I work in the Swedish comic book industry as the editor of The Phantom comic book which we have been producing in Sweden under license since 1950. I think we've made about 1560 issues. I also work with different more local comic books and I make my own graphic novels. The next will be released September 25th this year (2014 if you're reading this in the future). In my spare time I like to play Minecraft and play with Lego. I also like to go and drink alcohol with my pals at the different bars in Malmö. I used to hang out at fbtb.net before they changed plattform or something for their forum, and also because I stopped collecting Lego Star Wars and started just playing around with town sets and trains. Right now I'm discovering the Friends theme which is totally awesome. A lot of those sets have great details for us who love more everyday life stuff. I have a girlfriend and she is a level 90 Night Elf in World of Warcraft (and the same age as me ...). I really enjoy seeing and reading about all the cool stuff you all create with our favorite Danish brick!
  9. By Crom this is awesome! I've been thinking about larger Friends sets. Do they always include a toilet? If so this so needs a space toilet.
  10. The double-decker couch saves lifes!
  11. A food store, like a supermarket. A lego town should have a police station and a fire station IMO. I've built a classic post office in my town, but there are no post offices in my country anymore for regular people, so I might remake it into a small takeaway thai restaurant. The post service can move in to the supermarket. Here's an inspiration pic.
  12. I want to live there!
  13. I think it looks so darn cute.
  14. El Topo by Jodorowsky. I recommend it. It's crazy.

That beach with the towels on the sand. I love it. I'm going to build a beach for my town when I get home from my vacation, and those towels are really something I haven't thought about. Thanks for charing!
  16. Nice color balance. Looks very sophisticated,
  17. Do kids still play cowboys and native americans these days? I know we did in the 80's, but now? I would like to see ancient Rome, Greece and Egypt. Maybe the Ottoman Empire. If they bring back Western I would love a caravan of amish though. Or a Lucky Luke theme would be cool!
  18. Thanks guys! I usually try to build three things for my town everyday when I get home from work. It can be some minor changes somedays, and other days it's a new house or a car. lightningtiger: I think it will be 7x7 baseplate big/small. Right now it's standing on the floor, but I hope my girlfriend will let my buy some tables to put it on, because it's killing my back and knees sitting on the floor when I'm building on it. A lot of times I build outside of the layout and then place the building when finished. laka: Not all are original. I googled for the instructions and used bricks from my collection (I've been an AFOL since 1999 when the Star Wars sets came out). The lids are original from when I was a kid. I never really played that rough with my Lego bricks as a kid. I mostly just liked to build and then look at it and dream. Basically what I still do... My next project is to build a beach and use the Friends beach house and the Creator beach house next to each other. I like the fact that a Lego town always is a work in progress.
  19. Very cleaver use of your space, and at the same time solve that problem some of us have with having the train not really going to another place.
  20. Thanks! I want it to feel Scandinavian (I'm from Sweden). I visited the stronghold Glimmingehus http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Glimmingehus in June and got the idea to include the castle, because why would Soltown need an airport? Well, because of the tourists that wants to see the old castle.
  21. I love all the interior details. I almost never build any interior for my houses, but this is really inspiring! If you use dark green under dark blue trans bricks that could give som depth to the water.
  22. Hola, I'm a new member, but have been lurking for many years. At the moment I'm working on a classic themed Lego town in our guest room/my Lego room. I want it too look very 80's and early 90's, because that was the era when I was a kid (I was born in 1981). But I want it to have new features also, so it feels like a town that's been around for some time, with different layers of time periods just like a real town. Soltown has an airport, two train stations, a medieval castle that attracts tourist, lots of policemen since it's a bit of a dictatorship, a harbor and so on. You'll see most of it in my shaky youtube video ... Here's the link It's still under construction. I think it will be finished in late August, because I'm going away on vacation. If you search for the hashtag #lego on instagram, you will probably see some more pics of the different stuff that's going on in Soltown. Anyways, I'm so inspired by all the cool MOCs your posting here, so I hope I can contribute some myself to this great community. Here's a pic of how Soltown looked a couple of weeks ago, but in the youtube video you'll see a lot of changes (I've removed the train yard because I wanted a more compact town)
