  1. It's a portmanteau of "Mixel" and "citadel," surely?
  2. Tis' the season for Barraki revamps! It's fascinating to see the differences between these and TheOneVeyronian's versions. Both groups are valid and recognizable variants on the same things, whilst nonetheless employing radically different styles and mechanics. Ehlek and Pridak are the best, both quite stunning. Next is Mantax, then Kalmah, with Takadox and Carapar as the weakest. The last two aren't bad, just a bit awkward. Carapar's proportions are off, and the gap between his legs and torso is rather unsightly. He also needs a different right-arm. It's too small, and contrasts badly with his left one. Takadox is one revision away from being fantastic. The Metru-armor and the Rahkshi head don't fit. The former is too ornate, clashing with his general aesthetic, while the latter is a deformity. I quite like his crossbow. It's a nice take on the squid-launchers. All in all, these are quite impressive. I look forward to seeing your future creations!
  3. Well, the original Toa's reaction to becoming Toa Nuva was essentially "yo, we've defeated the Bohrok, we're super-powerful! To heck with teamwork!" Cue the Kal coming along and stealing their powers.
  4. They don't? They are figures in their own right, they can serve as masks, and they provide "conflict in a box." That's more than just looking good, if you ask me. Perhaps the story has underrepresented them, but that's no fault of the sets. EDIT: They also provide a reason for the good guys to fight each other, which is rather dandy. As Starparu has demonstrated, Kopaka is part of a set featuring both himself and something called "Melum."
  5. Did LEGO's web-department(s) learn nothing? Poor Merlin. EDIT: Also, is this the first time we've seen Lewa use his control over plants?
  6. One can't read too much into the generic title of "Hunter," but perhaps Umarak (sounds like Mubarak) is a callback to the Dark Hunters.
  7. "Three Vertues?" I must have missed that. It sounds like some sort of Doctor Who (or perhaps Sherlock) fan-documentary. Is there a "Five Moffats" or a "Two Gatisses?" =P
  8. So, this information seems to disprove the list posted on the TTV boards. What it says about the 4Chan information, I'm not sure. Spring 2015 seems quite early for Summer 2016 sets to be tested, but LEGO might design a year's worth of sets at once (as was done with Power Miners, for example.) The creatures do lend it a modicum of credence.
  9. To be fair, it seems to be a stylistic choice. Tahu's swords are hardly the only thing that look like cardboard cut-outs.
  10. Indeed. The inability of most Bionicle figures to roll was one of the great frustrations of my childhood. I did manage to get Axon to complete four revolutions, while Tuma did three, but that was the best I could get, Bohrok aside. In all seriousness, the Bohroks' rolling, while rather limited, is still a cool feature. Hardly a selling point, but a nice little bonus.
  11. Would that mean that the Toa are all aspects of a single entity, ala Dark Crystal? That would certainly add new meaning to the phrase "united, but not one."
  12. I think it's cool. Sure, we've had quite a few golden masks, but there's a reason for that. It's a striking color, and one not affiliated with any element. Besides, does the presence of other golden masks diminish this one?
  13. I have mixed feelings on the matter. I loved the Bohrok (heck, I even liked the Kal,) but I'm wary of Gen2 revamping Gen1. The new Toa worked, but they're just humanoids. New Bohrok would be far more difficult to pull off, by virtue of both their shape and their function. The latter in particular is worrisome, seeing as the two function-based sets thus far have been the weakest of the year. That said, I'd be happy with well-done Bohrok. I'd like something to come along and show the way for a variety of competent, non-humanoid builds
  14. The problem here is that the earlier list gave set numbers, which made Mask Hunter the last of the same line as the Ghost sets. Care to elaborate?
  15. EDIT: Oops, Ninja'd by VBBN!
  16. The Brickpicker forums, oddly enough. The poster claims to have stumbled upon a list of 2016 sets, though he gives no particulars. None of his previous posts are terribly revealing. Perplexingly, the list manages to both mesh with and yet seemingly contradict the one Willess12 posted on the TTV forums.
  17. Hey, this is Okto, remember? Every island needs its heroes. I'll wager they have a Nordic vibe.
  18. The Piraka were being manipulated by Makuta, but only Zaktan had any inkling of that fact. The Barraki were free agents, obstacles to Makuta, in fact. They had, at least, an air of tragedy about them. Yes, they were evil warlords with dreams of conquering the world, but their run of misfortunes added layers to them. Even Carapar, who was the dumb brute of the group, had only become so due to Takadox's frequent hypnosis, a fact of which he was resentful, if I recall correctly.
  19. It's a creative, interesting build, so it's a shame that the helmet doesn't quite gel with the rest of it. Maybe it's the texture (I'm not entirely certain,) but something about it doesn't work.
  20. Superb as usual. You have a real talent for taking disparate pieces and combining them into a striking, cohesive whole. Particular kudos for the use of the Knights Kingdom kneepads and Stronius' armor.
  21. Ah, so they're racists now, are they? Height wouldn't strike me as the most obvious means of discrimination, especially for a children's toyline (Dr. Seuss used star-marks as an allegory for race, if I recall) but then, these are fantastical creatures we're talking about. =P
  22. I'm all for using a mask as armor, but Gali's doesn't look like armor here, giving the impression of a hunchback. As for the torso, it has promise, though it's a bit too bare-bones here for me to properly say.
  23. Thanks! The search bar is proving informative. To wit: "With a single swing of his long axe, Skull Grinder slammed the masks off all six heroes. Their masks shattered instantly and fell to the floor." Man, Grinder is Brutaka levels of OP.
  24. What is 4Chan's policy on commercial leaks? Are they normally pretty laissez-faire in that regard? Correct me if I'm wrong, but wasn't the knee-pad/shoulder-pad the only piece revealed after Luke and Vader? A piece that simple could easily be guessed, no?
  25. Well, this is interesting. Windham's writing is fine, though it does, frustratingly, suggest a writer who is writing down to his audience, leading to an uncomfortable stylistic dichotomy. The dialogue isn't really sparkling. Anyway, I'm glad to see that we're getting a more in depth exploration of Okoto. I find it bizarre that different folks get different previews. That's rather too pirate-friendly for my liking. It would seem that the "I didn't slip!" remark is indicative of a full-blown personality trait. =P The female PoE (Korgot!) is cool. The more humanoid traits of the Okotans make them a nice contrast to the inhabitants of the MU. They names are, unsurprisingly, rather random, but I like them. "Bingzak" is a gloriously daft name.
