  1. Hola, welkomen, aloha, konwichi wa, and welcome to LEGO Island Eurobricks, Brbrink1996! That's a tricky one. The solution that comes immediately to mind is to make a custom torso, using Technic bits and ball-cups. It should be a good deal easier than usual with the POE, since he isn't adorned with any shells on his chest.
  2. I'm not alone! =P Once I got over my initial distaste for how un-LEGO they were, I found them rather charming.
  3. If any of the Toa should be ninja-like, it should be Lewa. He's the only one I readily associate with litheness of limb, and the jungle is a good locale for one who prefers to keep to the shadows. I think the "winter-paladin" design suits Kopaka nicely. He's always been the most aloof of the Toa, and given his element, his heavy-gear is very appropriate.
  4. And I finally acquired Onua from my local Toys R Us! Eminently poseable, especially given his size. I should think he'd do quite nicely on the disco-scene.
  5. Quite the scouting force. =P But yes, I wouldn't be surprised if they are merely the prima acie. Of course, the question is how the LOSS plays into this. He isn't, on the basis of his appearance, a Skull Spider, and he only seems to control them through his golden mask. So what makes him more suited to command them than our mysterious Skull Grinder? Is there some sort of "spider-sympathy" which makes it easier for him to control them? Obviously the real reason is that a spider lord for a spider horde sells better, but I do wonder if there will be an in-story justification.
  6. Except that the Toa were summoned by the Protectors in the present, meaning that if there were any sort historical tampering, it would be in the form of the information on how to bring them to Okoto.
  7. Of course, the Toa being summoned to Okoto from some other time or dimension does not equate to the Toa Mata/Nuva from the original story being summoned from their time and dimension to Okoto. While the repeated Vahi references, taken with the time motif, seem to me strongly to suggest the former, the latter is not supported by what we know of 2015's heroes. While there are obvious similarities (Kopaka, for example, seems more or less like his old self,) there are enough differences to suggest that these are different individuals. Onua is a sleepy and contemplative being, Gali lacks a sense of humor, Pohatu is afraid of the dark, Tahu is forgetful, Lewa controls both plantlife and air, and the Toa's powers are apparently unlocked by golden versions of their masks scattered throughout Okoto.
  8. While I'd love to see (or rather, hear) Brian Blessed in BIONICLE, I think the new Onua is a bad fit for him. According to his bio, he's something of a sleepy, gentle giant. Perhaps the new Tahu would be a better fit?
  9. I just had a thought. It's purely conjecture, but I thought it interesting enough to share. Assuming that the Villagers of Okoto are biomechanical beings, like their Gen1 counterparts, then the presence of the Skull-enemies is something of an oddity. Now, assuming that the Villagers didn't evolve the way they are, then perhaps the Skull-critters are their prototypes? Maybe the Great Beings of Gen2 (if they exist) first attempted to synthesize life using parts of cadavers, before employing a less macabre method?
  10. Assuming that the body of Ekimu isn't lost to the ages, it is possible that they must find him in the past. Given the presence of the Temple of Time, I will be surprised if we don't see a bit of time-travel.
  11. We've got a Temple of Time, and a Mask of Time. Why recount history, when you can venture there yourself?
  12. So, ought we to call the Summer wave "Boneheads of Okoto?" =P It will be good to have more villains. I wonder if any of them will include small adversaries, ala the Skull Spiders. Trained Rahi, perhaps? The Baby Fire Protector (aka Twokua)? =P Oh, and a merry Christmas everyone!
  13. Granted, but repeated visual references to the original Vahi are going to cause a fair amount of fans to expect to see it in the new story. LEGO should know that, and so I will be surprised if it does not make at least a moment's appearance.
  14. But then why go to the trouble of including it, qua original-"half a mask"-Vahi, as a repeated easter-egg? We've seen multiple images of it, one of which shows it quite clearly in its original form. To feature the images of the original Vahi so prominently, as opposed to simply hiding the word "Vahi" or whatnot, and to not have it appear that way, would amount to, in internet parlance, trolling.
  15. I found a few Lord of the Skull Spider sets in my local Target today. My first thought was that the other BIONICLE products had sold out, but I then noticed that the only BIONICLE info-sticker was for those sets. It was weird seeing a Bonkle in a store after all these years. So, those in California should be on the lookout.
  16. Provided the accent isn't used in your country of residence. :P
  17. Yay, videos! Non c'est pas mal. I rather like the ambiance. I'm definitely getting a sort of Jim Henson/Dark Crystal vibe. The voice acting isn't first rate (comparisons to Thomas the Tank Engine are certainly apt,) but it isn't bad by any means. I don't mind the same person doing most of the voices, like an audiobook, so long as they each have a distinctive character. Since we haven't seen any of the Toa together, it remains to be seen if this is the case. Though given that these are animations, I wish they had gotten a voice actress for Gali. It seems odd, given all the care and attention that LEGO is lavishing on this reboot, that they couldn't manage an additional voice. Re the Vahi and the Temple of Time: The repeated easter-eggs depicting it in its original form seem to put paid to the idea that the fellow at Comic-Con was simply saying "We'll have the Vahi, only better!" It feels weird seeing it amidst all the Gen 2 characters. Though given its nature, it makes an appropriate relic. Also, the heroes will "find the Mask-Maker." Given that he's been laid to rest by the Protectors, perhaps that Temple is going to be of use in more ways than one. I also find the Temple's pendulum, while a nice touch, funny, given the lack (as far as I remember,) of clocks in BIONICLE GEN 1.
  18. It has a sort of Anglo-Saxon ring (no pun intended) to it. It would be interesting to see BIONICLE incorporate elements of Old English mythology and culture, provided it doesn't simply ape Tolkien.
  19. I went to my local Toys R Us today, and like Kalhiki, found, alas, no Bonkles. The only 2015 sets I noticed were in the City line. For what it's worth, the staff wasn't even aware that the store would soon be stocking BIONICLEs (I was told that "we don't carry them anymore.")
  20. They could be both completely organic and biomechanical, sort of like tortoises, only with the chitin making up bones and pistons and what-not. I'm not certain how such a thing would come about evolutionarily, but it's not impossible. It could also be the result of genetic engineering. For what it's worth, in MNOG, the mining head-honcho describes the impenetrable layer of "rock" as akin to a crab's shell.
  21. Perhaps that was the intention, but the bios read:
  22. Looking at the updated website, I am pounded by waves of nostalgia. BIONICLE Gen 2 continues to maintain a very pleasing balance of novelty and familiarity. Am I the only one getting a Dark Crystal vibe from the Fire Protector in that animation picture? I'm curious about the implications of the littl'uns. While there is nothing inherently contradictory about reproductive biomechanical beings, it does make one wonder even more about their origins and purpose (in a good way.)
  23. Re the summer sets: I seem to recall that someone at Comic-Con confirmed a summer-wave of six or seven sets. The idea of five sets came, I believe, from the leaked Q&A document, which, while seemingly legitimate (given that is was the first public-source to us the name "Okoto,") did contain some erroneous (outdated, perhaps) information, such as a confirmation of animations, only for another page to claim that information regarding that couldn't yet be released, and the claim that Greg Farshtey was writing the new books.
  24. The most obvious benefit is the avoidance of making all the Toa clone-sets. It's also possible, that, given this is a reboot, LEGO is still cautious about releasing titans in the first wave of the year (as was the norm from 2007-2009.) If that is the case, then the larger Toa might be seen as something of a compromise, fulfilling the demand for larger sets without introducing extra characters (LEGO has apparently expressed a desire to avoid making BIONICLE Gen 2 unnecessarily complicated.)
  25. I agree that it's odd. It particularly stands out on Onua (fantastic as he and his mask design are.) That said, these are masks, not actual heads, so there's a bit more leeway, I suppose. It's not much stranger than the Matoran (the McToran in particular) wearing Masks of the same size as the Toa.
