Perhaps I'm missing the obvious, but which two balljoints? Quite. Were I making this as a proper MOC, as opposed to a proof-of-concept, it would (hopefully) be easier on the eye. =P

So, I tried my hand at making a Protector-size, function-based quadruped in Digital Designer. I'm not sure what to think of it. It was meant to be a bull, though it turned out resembling a pantomime horse. Of course, given some time, its appearance could be spruced up. The function, that of the bull bucking, is achieved primarily through the use of two 3m double-ballcups and two Technic knobs, over which is spread a rubber-band (sadly absent from LDD.) How well it works in reality, I cannot say. It comprises 58 pieces.

I hate to be the odd man out here, but this only serves to reinforce my wariness of function-based constraction-sets. It's technically impressive, but not much to look at. Even if the feet were less disproportionately large, the most eye-catching thing about the figure would still be the tail, and that sacrifices form and aesthetics for functionality. It looks grafted-on.

Agreed. Hopefully this incident will serve as a wake-up call. Perhaps this is silly, but what if you had to have a certain rank to give out supposedly leaked info? I imagine that one who had been an active part of the site for more than two years would be considerably less likely to risk expulsion from it.

Urist McVillager cancels clean self, possessed by Skull Spider. =P A wave of creatures in the vein of DF's procedurally-generated beasties would be pretty cool. A towering three-eyed Gukko-Bird. It has a long, swinging trunk and it has a gaunt appearance. Its ecru feathers are patchy. Beware its deadly spittle!

To paraphrase Dwarf Fortress, "it is unfortunate, but not unexpected." As I said before, trolls tend to defy all common sense. Mind, I don't hold any ill-will towards Nekchir. As thoughtless as his actions were, he wasn't acting maliciously. By the time actual leaks surface, folks will be doubting their veracity for months. =P I suspect that this stems in no small part from the plethora of genuine BIONICLE-leaks that occurred last summer. Fake leaks are nothing new, and I fear that Gen2 will be saddled with a lot of them. But hey, this did get Eurobricks to crack down even further on purported leaks, so that's a good thing.

On one hand, I find it implausible that the Barnetts, of all folks, could have a cousin at large in the online AFOL community of whom they were unaware. On the other hand, it would be extremely foolish to falsely claim to be a relative of the Barnetts, of all members. Why not claim to be the kin of some respected but long-inactive user? I lean towards it being false, as in my experience, trolls tend to defy all common-sense.

Granted, I don't own the set, but I have seen it in the plastic, and I found it aesthetically unpleasing, in a way I don't think it would have been had it not been function-based. Now, I wouldn't condemn function-based quadrupeds solely on the basis of a single set, but you've got Skull Scorpio in the second wave, who is all the more frustrating for being an interesting failure, one so easily rectified, as Logan artfully demonstrated. So, it's zero for two, in my opinion, in the functional quadruped department. Not cause to despair of the success of any such future sets, but certainly reason for folks like me to be apprehensive.

It's funny. He and Tahu were my favorite of the Mata, yet they're probably my least favorite of the reboot-Toa.

Slicer is to this wave what Pohatu was to Winter's: A perfectly decent set, albeit not especially inspired, that would probably fare much better if it weren't for its more remarkable cohorts. That said, I find him considerably more interesting than Pohatu. If Slicer's a comparatively mediocre set, then the line is in good hands.

I'm late to the party, but I finally got me a summer set. Skull Warrior, to be precise. He's a lovely piece of work. The build isn't especially ingenious, but it's quite stunning. I don't think I've ever had a BIONICLE set with such an exotic and exciting assortment of parts. The exposed bits might not be to everyone's taste, but I like the impression of decay that they give. I have only two criticisms. Firstly, the gear function isn't much use with a spear (though a bit of modding can easily make a sword of it.) I appreciate the importance of the raised shoulders, but surely the gears could have been omitted, perhaps in exchange for something to cover up the exposed ball-joints? Secondly (and I realize this is a rather OCD complaint,) the instructions do not explain how to attach the crossbow to Warrior's back. It's not too hard to figure out, but it left me with the silly, lingering fear that I was doing it wrong. All in all, it was a purchase well made! EDIT: EDIT 2: Also, getting Warrior makes me rather sad that there weren't any $20 Summer sets. We need some skeletal titans. And speaking of sets, the ones on the shelf at Target were rather telling. There were no Warriors (thank goodness for that branch's wonderful customer service) or MM vs. SG, one Basher, and various Slicers and Scorpios. I'd venture to say that Slicer is selling the worst.

Believe me, I've no desire to revive that argument, nor do I bear any enmity towards TTV. I was simply explaining why DV and I assumed that Scarilian was referring to BZPower. But yes, we probably should move back on-topic. Asaj Ventris, mayhaps?

Superb, per usual. That said, I'd like to see someone make a titan-Onua revamp that maintains the golem-like appearance of the set, as opposed to the Charles Atlas-type build that seems to be the norm. Though I understand why that might not be the most feasible thing in the world. Korgot as a Samus-type action-hero would not have occurred to me, but it works rather well.

This. BZPower's response, that of prohibiting posting, and detailed discussion, of the leaked pictures, is the same for any purported LEGO leaks.

Sorry for not responding sooner. Carapar looks much better. The gap is gone, and his new arm fits like a glove. Keep up the good work!

Star Wars Constraction 2015 Discussion

The proportions seem to be the main problem here. Her thighs are too short in comparison to the knee-armor. Could you take a picture of her with the armor but without the pointy-add-ons? -

I don't know too much about the site, but it seems to be an unofficial Russian LEGO Shop.com, which makes it all the less plausible that only one person noticed it. You'd think the Russian fans would be all over this, if it were real.

Quite. One must also wonder why they would be taken down. The only fathomable reason is that the site had some connection to LEGO, ala Eurobricks or BZPower, which begs the question of why the leaks were posted there in the first place, and, for that matter, why they were not re-posted elsewhere.

Which is why, conversely, the new Toa reusing their 2015 molds does not mean that their builds are rehashes. If anything, I'd think this would motivate the designers to make them quite distinct from their previous iterations.
