  1. The same pieces as always, really? If nothing else, the amount of Technic used in the Hero Machines is a significant difference. Granted, but there was no contractual need, as far as I can tell, for continued TV specials after Ordeal of Fire, and we got those. And the comic books continued through 2011. Then, in 2012, we got the first Hero Factory novel. I'm afraid it isn't. LEGO was was nearing bankruptcy, back in '02. BIONICLE was the one thing keeping it from the abyss. Today, LEGO is far more successful. Its continued survival should never have to ride on a single theme. That it doesn't now does not make constraction a niche. Besides, if it is niche, why have we had multiple constraction lines running at once? We've seen Chima, Super Heroes, and now Star Wars constraction figures. That still shouldn't adversely affect LEGO themes in a completely different category. Ninjago doing well and constraction doing well are not mutually exclusive occurences.
  2. Five, actually, though the first wave was originally intended to be what became 2.0. Invasion from Below wasn't innovative? It was certainly different than what came before. Paperback books, no. But it did have comics and a TV special. Citation, please? So Ninjago is a competitor to constraction?
  3. Also, for what it's worth, Tahu and Gali's descriptions refer to, respectively, a volcanic and an oceanic crater. These could be the craters that Makuta and Ekimu created when they fell.
  4. Interesting. Was that due to some particular appeal over there, or did the line simply not sell as well elsewhere?
  5. More story details, yay! "Kulta." Rather punny, that.
  6. My bad. Perhaps it's a regional thing? It's an odd example, but I seem to recall that the packaging for the Series 1 Collectible Minifigure I ordered from Hong Kong had more languages than its stateside equivalents.
  7. It seems to me that there is: "Creador de Máscaras vs Cavelra Trituradora."
  8. All else aside, the watermark has a 2013 copyright, which to my mind is a coup de grace against its legitimacy.
  9. Shame on Disabilities Charity and the Mirror for their scandal-mongering. It's blindingly obvious in context what the offending descriptor actually refers to. That said, it does seem to have been removed from Turg's pages.
  10. It's not an inherently bad piece. It's great for a number of things (e.g. breastplates.) It's not even a bad foot piece, per se. The main problem is how casual it looks. Take Gali, for example. The fierce, regal elegance of an otherwise excellent set is dampened by the fact that she looks like she's wearing sneakers.
  11. Hey, guys! We've got leaked development notes on the summer animations. Not only will they be more talky, but LEGO's taking a page from Disney! I bet Lewa gets a dance number. I figure it makes a change from the various "Skull blank" videos. =P
  12. Surely that's inevitable? Gen1 got at least two years out of each set of heroes, and, given that Gen2 is planned out to three years, I won't be surprised if we get as many iterations of the Toa. Heck, while I have no objections to switching heroes, given the hostility to doing so from some fans, combined with the whole "back to Mata Nui" approach that the team is taking, I'll not be shocked if we see these Toa for the entire run.
  13. I was referring to you. Heck, it's been less than a year since you had that username. I don't forgot things that easily (mind you, the real fun comes from remebering little details about people's pasts that they forgot they told you.) =P
  14. As I said before, I have no desire to reawaken the debate. Whether or not a reboot precludes any connections to Gen1 is, as far as I can tell, one of the primary sources of disagreement. My point was that nothing in the the interview advances the debate either way. Mr. Mann does not, as Jay suggests, put the nail in the coffin of the Vahi-hypothesis. Either it has already been struck, or it has yet to.
  15. Not to rekindle the flames of the Vahi debate, but from the transcript alone, I see nothing suggesting that, aside from the conclusion that the TTV team seems to jump to. On the contrary: Also, "Rest in Peace?" Getting violent now, are we? =P
  16. When you do, be careful not to get caught up with Satin worshipers.
  17. Nah, Grinder's the closest to red. I like the Skull-Spider mask. It adds to the whole Temple of Doom-Kali vibe, in a way that the other available masks wouldn't, and for which a new mask would be superfluous.
  18. I like Slicer. He has an elegant simplicity. He's certainly better than Pohatu.
  19. Forget Takanuva, this is the comeback we've all been waiting for! #Mukau2015 confirmed!
  20. How does being unnecessary matter? Does being irrelevant to the main plot invalidate a story's merits? You may not like them, but I don't see how their supplemental nature factors into their objective merits (or lack thereof.) How so? Of the four alternate universes explored in any detail, only the Toa Empire universe was the dark and gritty sort. The other three were all noticeably nicer (all the species living in peace, the Shattering averted, the Makuta never rebelling.)
  21. The story serials seem to come under most of the criticism. I can't recall the last time someone vented his spleen on the writing of one of the books or comics (though no doubt it happens.) I like Greg's writing, though I understand it's not to everyone's tastes. Though I think most fans take him for granted. Things could have been far worse. Greg was at least a competent writer. Imagine if we'd gotten something along the lines of the Legends of Chima TV series. I will be curious to see how Windham et al. fare. Okoto's just waiting to be fleshed out in prose.
  22. Hail Count Petiofi!

  23. Cue the official Youtube channel releasing Episode 10 in Armenian, three months ahead of schedule. =P
  24. I don't see how they're so incompatible. With the exception of certain add-on pieces, both themes use Technic tubular-pin connections. Sure, employing their pieces on a CCBS torso might be tricky, but should be a cinch in regards to a custom torso (though I doubt that a five year-old will be making those.)
  25. Three years is usually the limit for a theme, and many go for less. Heck, Voodoo Heads was apparently conceived as a "flash-in-the-pan" theme, and BIONICLE was initially planned for a single year. Throwbots went for two years, which is not at all bad. Roboriders, however, was, I believe, a placeholder, mandated when Dooheads/BIONICLE took longer than expected (perhaps as a result of Faber's inspiration.)
