Well, that's quite the first impression! As others have said, it instantly takes me back to those Classic Pirates sets, but with a 2020s flair. Wonderful design with it built into the rocks. I really like the back side with the hidden underground elements. Looks like it has good play value!

Wonderful story for Uncle. Love the build, but that first photo is the real star of this post!

Brethren of the Brick Seas (BoBS) Intro Thread, Era II
Capt Wolf replied to Bregir's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
Yes, if you build something that alone could be licensed as a property, you can use it as the means of sistershipping a ship and still license it as a property. -
1. Whole new ship. Basically, capturing an un-MOC'd ship is the same as acquiring a free license for a ship of that size. It can also be sold to the prize court for DBs if you don't want to build a ship.

[SR - Class 6] - The Prince...err.... Princess Alex
Capt Wolf replied to Gulagurag's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
Clever piece usage for the mizzenmast sail. And I love that you built this with your daughter. -
I wondered how long it would be before we saw a tulip plantation. Me too. Already on it! I'm just hoping I can get my little vig built that references this whole tulip thing before the story reaches a conclusion!
-
But note that it is an un-MOC'd ship, so you'll need to build it before you can sail it,

I like it. Good shape. Definitely fits the bill of a merchantman.

Kings Port Advertiser and Ship List (Vol. 6, Issue 2)
Capt Wolf replied to Capt Wolf's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
Just a note that the capture list erroneously listed Eslandola as the faction that captured Cannonball and Grand Venture when it was in fact Corrington. The original post has been corrected. -
That all sounds reasonable to me. I'm going to flag this for @Ayrlego, who has been overseeing troop movement records.

[COR - MRCA Result] Sunset Correspondence
Capt Wolf replied to Ayrlego's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
Montroy read the letter and couldn't believe his luck. "Can you believe this?" he declared to his quartermaster. "The Corries tried to hang me a couple of years ago, but I escaped before they could put the noose around my neck. Now they're offering me a full pardon, a Letter of Marque, and coin of the realm to equip us … likely because they lost another Third Rater to the Lotus scourge. Har har! Life is good." Montroy turned to his crew: "Who wants to go hunting the Lotii on the purse of the Redcoats?" His crew replied with a rousing cheer. "Get me some parchment and my pen. We need to hurry off our acceptance of this fortuitous offer. And fetch my charts. We plot a course for the New Haven Sea!" OOC: @Ayrlego, offer accepted. At some point I'll whip up a vig so we can see what Montroy looks like. -
[COR-OKT] Oktoberfest Joust, Punto Sur
Capt Wolf replied to evancelt's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
I think this is our first Oktoberfest joust, and I love it! (Eslandians are known for their love of horses.) And you did a great job using the classic printed wall pieces in the build. Cool border with the varied slopes creating an uneven edge. Fun build all around! -
[SR- OKT] Westward square oktoberfest, Punto Sur
Capt Wolf replied to omnihash_cz's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
Wonderful build! The angled elements really add visual interest, and the styling is varied but still all looks like it belongs together. And I love the feel that the town is carved right out of the island foliage. Good Oktoberfest activities and figure posing. Lots of interesting things to look at. Another great Oktoberfest entry! -
Yes, I'm guilty of commenting on the build before I fully read the text. I caught the reference to the Oleon envoy and thought there was more of an Oleon slant to things. Now I'm wondering what it would look like with a green and white checkered pattern (since there's no Bavaria in BoBS ).
-
Looking forward to it! Exactly the color I was thinking!
-
Ooh! Lots to like here! Eslandola style with an Oleon flair. The blue and white tiling contrasts with the white walls and dark red roof nicely. I like the design of the windows, as well as the posts for the railing. Wonderful trees, and I like how the building being set at an angle gives way to "sandy" edges beyond the grass. Some good little vignettes among the minifig posing. Excellent Oktoberfest entry!
-
Really enjoying this tulip storyline! Fun stuff! I like that you built a trapezoid-shaped table, presumably to make photography of the participants easier. And I must ask if Thomas Guilder is any relation to my Willem Guilder. They could practically be twins. (Maybe they are? )

Kings Port Advertiser and Ship List (Vol. 6, Issue 2)
Capt Wolf replied to Capt Wolf's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
PM me the stats of the ship. -
Great reimagining of that set! I really like the tree and the vegetation details (both green and brown) among the rocks. Well done! Can we get a better look at the boat? And that would make a fine fort for someone were you to post in it the BoBS forum (especially if you replaced those bluecoat soldiers and flags with some other color).

The sign-up deadline for the next Trade MRCA is October 26, midnight, anywhere in the world. ---------------- To sign-up for the Trade MRCA, read the rules here and then sign-up via this form. For a ship to take part in the MRCA, it must be licensed. You can license your ship under the new ship rules via this form. If there are any issues (typo, wrong number of points or other issues) with this process, PM @Bregir. Note that the MRCA signup form still doesn’t have raids added yet, so if you’re interested in conducting a raid this turn, PM @Capt Wolf. If you’re just going to be trading, you can go ahead and fill out the forms normally. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- IMPORTANT MAP ZONE INFORMATION: - Note that zone 34 connects to zone 36 - Explorers have confirmed that the open sea south of zone 35 is navigable. As such, zone 62 (unmarked on map) is available for travel in the MRCA. Zone 62 connects to zones 33, 35, 37, and 38. Cartographers are working to get the maps updated as soon as possible. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- In addition to the information above, consult the following two maps for trade zone numbers before submitting any forms. First, the continental coast and the seas closest to northern Halos: IMPORTANT: Note that if you click on the above map to go to one you can zoom in on, there is an error on the linked map (zones 10 and 11 are mislabeled). Use the map visible above for proper zone labels. Note that the settlement marked on the above map as Dragonstone now goes by the name of Aurelia. Second, here is the map for the New Haven Sea, which has a growing number of settlements: ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------- And here are the trade values as of October 6, 621. But this is for pirates only. Ships not flying the black visiting these hideouts will likely be captured by Captain Redbeard or The Dragon!

It's that time of year again: time for Oktoberfest! The annual BoBS Oktoberfest celebration features food and drink, contests of skill, games and amusements, traditional/historical costumes, food and drink (did we mention food and drink?), and more! This year the Eslandolan Oktoberfest celebration again takes place in the town of Punto Sur on Maldria in the New Haven Sea. Last year saw the settlement grow from a frontier outpost to a bustling town with denizens from all the factions of the Brick Seas. As you can tell from Punto Sur’s original trading post (and the cast of characters pictured above), the town has a Classic Pirates aesthetic. As such, all entries should have a Classic Pirates vibe of some sort, and appear fitting with a Classic Pirates port town, either in traditional 1989 form or updated for 2021 style and techniques. This year also poses a question: Where do all those partying minifigs live? We always see the visiting sailors who are ready for shore leave, but what about the locals -- the merchants and craftsmen and dock hands and fishermen? Do they live in rustic rural homes, colorful urban row houses, sprawling tropical villas, or something else? Rules: Your entry should show an Oktoberfest activity in Punto Sur, with an emphasis on the permanent residents of such a growing colonial outpost. Show residents taking part in the festivities while making a new home for themselves in the islands. Entries must be licensable properties. Players may submit as many entries as they want, but may only win one prize per category. In addition to posting your entry in the forum (ideally with a [OKT] tag in the title), please post a link to your build in this thread and in the Punto Sur settlement thread. Entries must be posted by October 31. Categories: There are two categories this year: Residences, and All Other property types (Artisan, Commerce, Factory, Education, and Culture properties combined). Identify what category you're entering when you post your entry. Entries will be judged on presentation, quality of build, story, fit with Punto Sur's architectural style (Classic Pirate, both retro and modern), and fit with the Oktoberfest/festival theme. The only size requirement is a 16x16 minimum. Prizes: The top three entries in each category will win a free property license (large/medium small for first/second/third place), to be activated by microbuild, usable only in the New Haven Sea. Builders will also be reimbursed for licensing costs for any property licensed through the EGS, or Capt Wolf will purchase (at 2x the license cost) any property a builder does not wish to license.

[COR - ChIVA Mirco Prize] Sawmill, Brickford Landing
Capt Wolf replied to Ayrlego's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
Very nice. I love how you do the micro trees! -
I present the brig Lucky Strike, seen here cutting quite a pace through the sea: Nothing profound in the ship construction, as I'm in the process of moving and am still unpacking my bricks. But I wanted to experiment with water effects in a micro, and this is what I came up with. Another view: All C&C welcome!
