  1. Good marching scene. There are some baby-faced recruits in there, though!
  2. OH ! Ok, now I remember. I just think it was neat that you build it in micro as well.
  3. What, you're not a fan of Rum Futures? But I can understand that. Rum is but a drink, whereas tulips -- dare I say beauty incarnate -- are forever (or at least the speculators hope so!). Yes, what could go wrong? --- Another wonderful installment! I am totally enjoying this storyline. More! And thank you for including a link to my modest tulip entry in the list of links.
  4. Wonderful micro ships! The shaping of the Black Bart is very good -- nicely curved sides. And the Black Sam sports an impressive row of gunports on her broadside! I also really like the schooner sail plan in micro. Was the Andromeda always in micro, or was it originally a full-size build?
  5. Thanks. Yes, the brown frogs are great for fancy furniture. I've used them in other builds as well. And, obviously, it's "BoBS chess." I did initially build a full chessboard, but it was way too big. Thanks. I built the chess board a few months ago and have been looking for a place to use it. And the Monty Python reference was a must! Thank you! Thanks. It started with the pineapple, then I figured I needed bananas. The pumpkin hasn't shown up in any other stories, but I had the piece, so it made the scene. Oh, I absolutely should have done that! It just wasn't where my head was when I was composing the story. Absolutely a missed opportunity! Of course, I would have had to check @Captain Braunsfeld's latest post to find the current prices.
  6. Thanks! I was kind of scrounging pieces rather than digging out exactly the right pieces, but optimally it's about 38 or 39 pieces. The masts (and connecting the sails to them) use more pieces than you'd think. Thanks! The bowsprit is held in place by friction only, but it is remarkably stable. Also, the slope under the bowsprit is an upside-down cheese slope just sitting on top of a trans-blue cheese slope.
  7. Willem Guilder was entranced by his surroundings when he was startled by the knock at the door. After another knock, he came to his senses and loudly said “Come in!” The courier entered the parlor of the Governor’s mansion and immediately wondered if he had accidentally gone to the greenhouse. “Wow, tulips!” he remarked. “Yes, yes,” Guilder replied, happy that the courier knew what the flowers were. “They’re the latest rage. We’ve discovered fascinating plants and fruit and such from all over the Brick Seas – bananas, pineapples, pumpkins – but these tulips seem the most remarkable, and they’re from Pontelli!” “Yessir, my missus has been all over me to get her some.” “Well, please, take some. You must keep the little lady happy. Which do you fancy?” “They’re all lovely. She’d be happy with any of them.” “I’m partial to the Norwegian Blue, myself,” remarked Guilder. “Er, that’s Royal Blue, sir,” replied the courier. “The Norwegian Blue is a parrot.” “Ah, yes, quite right,” replied Guilder, “but they’re still my favorite.” “Where did you get all these?” “My brother Thomas acquired these for me. He’s quite the insider on the tulip trade. I must seek his advice, as I think the MCTC needs to take advantage of this booming market.” “Yes, indeed,” agreed the courier. After a pause, the courier asked, “Why did you send for me, sir?” “Oh, yes,” said Guilder, again breaking his tulip trance. “Take these orders down to the shipyard. We must get the Oscuridad’s sister ship out of dry dock.” “Very good, sir. And thank you for the tulips.” Guilder’s reply did not come, his attention returned to the tulips. ------ A small vig to sistership the Oscuridad III, and to get in on the tulip craze. All C&C welcome.
  8. The last of my micro prizes from Challenge IV, this time a merchant ship: I started out trying to build a different ship entirely (a schooner brig or a barque) and it wasn't turning out how I wanted, so I shortened it a bit, raised the poop deck, changed up the sail plan, and voila, a carrack! All C&C welcome.
  9. Yep. I love galleons! And you've built some beauties! Thanks. I'm trying to do more with the water when I build microships. Thanks, I had fun with the sails. FYI, my El Genio had a sail on the bowsprit too. I can't take credit for the grill use, as that's from the shop in the bottle, but i did modify the general design of the stern. And thanks for the confirmation that the colors work! Thanks! It's a Sea Rat wannabe!
  10. My micro prize class 5 is required to fly the black, so I present the Blackjack: It's a MOD of the ship in a bottle, similar to my previous El Genio, but with different style of sails and different color scheme, and some other minor alterations. I'm not sure if the dark orange works for the stern windows or not, but I wanted the overall color scheme to be subdued: Some more pics here: And the ship name will be even more appropriate once I renew my ongoing storyline with the currently-captured-by-the-Lotii Jack and Kate... All C&C welcome!
  11. Very nice! I like the curved slopes for the sails, and the water technique is very effective. And the hands for flags are perfect at this scale. Beautiful micro ship!
  12. Cool micro sheep! Clever use of the HP wand sprues, too. And the water running off the edge of the build is a very fun touch. Great micro all around! Honestly, I think I enjoy a lot of the micro builds more than the minifig scale builds.
  13. I was wondering if we would start to see tulip bulbs. Another wonderful installment of your story, and of course the prices keep going up! And do I see Guy K. Wyndzon (@Kai NRG) in attendance at the tavern? Also, I hope you are licensing these builds in the EGS for Pontelli. Pontelli could be the new boom town!
  14. Oktoberfest judging is complete! And the judges had a tough time with a couple of the decisions, as you will discover shortly. I'd like to commend all the participants for staying true to the Oktoberfest theme, the island setting, and the Classic Pirates aesthetic. All the entries were well conceived and executed. Well done! Now to the prizes: In the Residences category, first place and a large property license to be activated by microbuild goes to @omnihash_cz for Westward Square. The judges thought the race for second place was too close to call, so we have a tie! Both @evancelt and @CapOnBOBS win a medium property license to be activated by microbuild, for their Oktoberfest Joust and Farmstead, respectively. In the Other Property Types category, the judges again couldn't discern a clear winner, so we have another tie! Both @NOD and @Professor Thaum win a large property license to be activated by microbuild, for their Large Townhall and Eat at Oggy's MOCs, respectively. The judges did note that, if either if these entries had a monkey, it would have won outright! Remember that the license prizes can only be used in the New Haven Sea region, and should be used before the end of January. Thanks again to everyone who entered, and congrats to all!
  15. Just wanted to chime in and agree with everyone else: the vigs are great and the minifigs are fantastic! Great troops! What is the piece the viceroy is wearing on his head?
  16. Woo-hoo! The Oktoberfest party continues!
  17. Thank you for all the work keeping this updated! No account issues that I see, just a note that I think Punto Sur now meets the requirements for the Large Town settlement level.
  18. I love the clouds of dust behind the coach's wheels, and that the highwayman holds the pistols sideways gangsta style! Another great entry in the tulip storyline!
  19. The windows are great. And I don't think it is too grey; working with one dominant color is a good challenge to make us build in more texture and details, which you've done. The moss/vines are one of my favorite parts of the build. This is one of my favorites of your builds.
  20. Wonderful build! Great use of those cloth pieces (what set are they from?). The whole things has a cool beach boardwalk feel. I also like that last pic with the cloth roof off. If you're offering to let me license this for Punto Sur, I will gladly do so, and I will transfer 100 DBs to your account. Thanks!
  21. A wonderful entry, and the story is a good fit for Punto Sur, as it is very much a melting pot of not only the PC factions, but apparently the NPC factions as well!
  22. The design and execution display your usual superb work. The color choices make this special, IMO. The gondola is very cool! So is the tree!
  23. Wonderful micro! Nice use of the musket as the bowsprit. But it's the effect of moving water you get in the base that is really stellar!
