Do you have some better pics of the trolley system? -
42055 - Bucket Wheel Excavator

Good idea, i like it. Maybe steering can be accomplished as shown by this 42042 MOC. -
42055 - Bucket Wheel Excavator

I agree on this. There are much more dangerous models for kids, for example the Mindstorms set. Shooting balls, a snake who hits kids in the eye/face. A 4-gearbox was just too complex to achieve in a 4-gearbox with one motor. Now we are left with a "motorized" BWE and a lame up/down function. Not flagship worthy in my opinion and can not be forgiven at this price level. -
Wow, what a great car. I like compact small builds with lots of functions. What a clever gearbox and good other functions. This would be an instant buy instead of the instant pass on the Porsche this year. Any hope for instructions?

42055 - Bucket Wheel Excavator
Bering replied to Jim's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
I agree with you on the safety measures taken on the internals. However, i can't pretend any parts flying at the slow rate the bucket wheel is turning. It will be a hard task for MOC'ers to get a 4 function gearbox with one motor. Time will tell... -
42055 - Bucket Wheel Excavator

But that could also happen with the manual up/down function. But i think the bucket wheel turns too slow anyway. The 42052 rotorblades (even with rubber) for example could do much more harm to the eyes. I think the solution for a motorized up/down function was to complex/expensive for Lego. -

The really big miss on this set is the lack of a motorized up/down movement of the bucket wheel. It could have been a real flagship. -
If LEGO really wants an ultimate set try a folding crane like the MK88. Now that's Technic.

For me too. I like the compact build, looks and good functions. A worthy successor to my good old friend the 8851. -
42054 - Claas Xerion 5000 Trac VC
Bering replied to Jim's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Lego chooses a flagship because of the number of bricks. We adults know that a flagship has nothing to do with the most parts or the size of the set. -
Thanks for your honest review Sariel. Many reviewers choose to please Lego instead of giving an honest opinion, scared for the consequences (of not getting a free set anymore). I agree with you. For such a hyped set in this price range everything should be perfect. And that's not the case here, it has many errors, internally and externally, as we can see and hear in your video. Crazy. Even 42039 does it better and it has a B-model... and a C, D and E. And you keep 210 euro's in your pocket. I got better things to do... Waiting for the Claas and Volvo. ;-)

[REVIEW] 42056 - Porsche 911 GT3 RS
Bering replied to Jim's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
We are proud to bring you the ultimate sportscar. Three years of work and everything works as the real one. Oh wait, QC missed something. It doesn't work like the real one. Gearbox redesign and ultimate errata page. ;-) -
[REVIEW] 42056 - Porsche 911 GT3 RS

Great review Jim, i enjoyed it. For me it's a nice set, but not more than that. It's has flaws, even errors and playability is limited. Sure, for many it's just a show item. For 300 euro's people may expect a top product. Maybe the best. If you push the price so far, everything should be perfect. And that's not the case here. Even for 200 euro's i would think the same about this set. Pricewise, there are much better choices, but for Porsche/car enthusiasts the price doesn't matter anyway. -
Did somebody try to modify the 42042B model, so you can move the trolley by gears or wires?

42056 - Porsche Speculation

Looks great, and has good functions. But for 300 euro's it's not for me. Going to love my 8880 and 8448 even more. There are better options for me for less money, Claas & Volvo together... -
Great review and it made me buy this set. It's a great build with lots of techniques. The only minor complaint that i have is the string. 50 cm is really too short. I changed this to 1.5m and now you really can tow something. ;-)
