GoH 10 B: Kilohr Outpost at the Isles of Solitude
LordDan replied to Dan Church's topic in Guilds of Historica
Excellent remake! The angled portion of the tower and small house are great additions, and the landscape looks great! -
[Minifigs] Miscellaneous Historicans (UPDATE: Carnival in Varlyrio)
LordDan replied to Aurore's topic in Guilds of Historica
Great figs! I really enjoyed the little scenes and advice they each had -
Excellent build! The monastery looks great, but what really catches my eye is the vegetation! I love all the different crops in the garden and it really feels like itβs thriving and overflowing over the fence. Really feels super organic! I also really like the little detail of the cat with the splattered bird egg

I had taken a quick look at this previously, but now that I have been working on my own entry I have really been looking at yours in depth. Thereβs just so much to see and itβs all so well done. The buildings are gorgeous, with all the different colored sections fitting so well together. The interiors, as always, are great. One of my favorite details is how smoothly the angled piece of the walkway fits in.

GoH 10C - End of an Avalonianβs castle
LordDan replied to Sympatik Brick's topic in Guilds of Historica
Epic microscale build! I like the narrow but tall style of the build, if you look at it starting from bottom to top you can read the story in the build! -
Great build! I enjoyed looking at all the details in the busy market and at all the interiors! I also like the including of the flags from all 4 guilds! Other details I thought were cool were the use of the large door piece for the tower roof and the sea serpent/ dragon decorations on the roof. One critique I have is I feel like some of the larger walls like the tan and light grey one would benefit from more texturing, rather than only using masonry bricks.

That snake head works shockingly well in microscale! For such a small build there are a lot of nice details and parts useage!

Cool figs, and very nice inn! I especially like the wooden parts of the inn such as the window frames and dilapidated roof. It would be nice to have an overall picture of the inn showing the entire thing in one frame.

Latest impact of other themes on historic themes
LordDan replied to Wardancer's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
I bought it at full price π€¦ββοΈ as a parts pack especially since I wanted the white masonry bricks. I think itβs a good deal at a discount -
Great build! As others have mentioned, the shaping of the boat is great, as is the detail with the wave and wake in the water. As for the trees, I really like the one on the left, although it could benefit from some more leaves as Grover said. Iβm not a fan of the middle limbs on the left tree, I think they stick out too far and are too straight, they look a little unnatural. I also struggle with building trees , I usually just use thin small trees to try to avoid the problem . Also, for the photos embedded in the post, you can remove the part that says βIMG_0428.jpg by Mattias Lind, on Flickrβ , which I think improves the presentation a bit, by deleting everything after in the code thatβs posted when embedding the image. In my opinion thatβs the best part of GoH, the community of builders that give feedback and help you to improve your building skills.

Very clean and cozy build, with a great color pallet as well!

[MOC] Horizon: Zero Dawn machines (New: Behemoth & Longleg)
LordDan replied to MaximillianRebo's topic in LEGO Licensed
Excellent HZD machines! I find myself looking for the weak spots. -
[MOC] Black Falconβs Towers / Red Dragon's Towers
LordDan replied to Sheps's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
Nice build! I like the clean look and the color scheme ( I prefer the red roof in my opinion). One small bit of feedback, I think the line between the rocks and the bottom of the castle looks unnaturally straight, I think it would look a little better with a slight variation in the height of the rocks. -
[MOC] Haunted A-Frame Cabin | Monster Fighters tribute
LordDan replied to Norton74's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
I love all the spooky details! Great to see some love for monster fighters! -
Thanks! I definitely agree with your critique, I used the same archway technique in the past, but the sides were partially covered so the gap was not as noticeable. Thanks! The unusual background is my light box π. Itβs a black background that is kind of reflective where the sheet curves. π I see what you my mean about the pillars, I was kind of trying to go for a column style with the lines running down it rather than smooth circular ones. The lady vampire I liked the fig, so I was trying to not block the printing. Thanks for the feedback! Thanks! I was definitely trying for creepy, felt like what fits in a vampires home. Thanks Simon!

I really like the cozy feel of the houses and village, which kinds of contrasts with the epic battle going on π. As others mentioned, the angled base is super well done (I didnβt even notice at first glance), and the interiors are great too!

The covered wagon is great, and the background is very picturesque!

Itβs great to see collaborations like this! The huge and colorful tree is great, and I like the roots and mushrooms around the base.

Beautiful ship with some great hull shaping!
-
Nice castle! Some of my favorite details are the stable floor, the interior library level, and the Tudor section outside! Also I never knew there was a debate over which way the battlements should slope, I always chose sloping in but now Iβm conflicted π

[Freebuild] Forest trolls'cavern keep entrance
LordDan replied to Ferret-'s topic in Guilds of Historica
Lovely entrance to the cave, the head is suitable menacing and a cool entrance to the troll hideout! As Grover mentioned, a solid colored background would help a lot with the pictures, and also having an overall shot that incudes the entire build without having any parts cut off would add a lot to the presentation. Welcome back, itβs always nice to see people returning to GoH!
