1. Looks like a classic Avalonian establishment, great work! The outdoor stage/ deck is a nice touch, and the arrow slits give the place a sturdy and fortified feel. One suggestion I have for future builds is that the sides of the building feel a bit too flat, I think it would benefit a lot from having the wooden sections protrude just slightly, or having the white walls indented. The stone section could use some tiles or ingot pieces on the side to give it a less sleek feel and more textured look. The irregular base and ground terrain look good, and the interior is great!
2. Very festive scene! The foliage, hanging flags, and brick built minotaur are all excellent! The lights in the lanterns and braziers are a great touch as well!
3. I'm siding with the owner on this one. Raven, falcon, who can tell the difference anyway . Nice build, it definitely seems like a cozy place to stop and grab a meal and drink on those frigid Mitgardian nights. I like the snow covered rooftop, but I think it would benefit from some curved slopes and tiles, right now the snow feels a bit blocky. The basement area is also a great touch!
4. Lovely cozy cabin! The roof technique and fishing setup are great!
5. Very cool! I was not familiar with Ponte Vecchio so I just looked it up and the inspiration is clear. The build feels perfectly Varlyrian and I like all the little shops! My only critique is that I wish the bridge was a bit wider so that you could get a better view down the center.
6. Awesome slice of Mitgardian life! I really like the squat stone windmill; like Grover mentioned, it's perfect for Mitgardia.
7. Lovely little segment of architecture! The tiles really do work perfectly for Kaliphlin. The relief map is a great idea and perfectly executed!
8. Nice take on the bull in a China shop concept! The display case and furniture are great. The Kali logo on the side is a nice touch, but I'm not a fan of blue showing through the top.
9. Excellent first build! It’s a very lively and colorful scene, with some very nice details such as the slightly offset carpet and stained glass windows.
10. Awesome vignette! I love the cluttered bookshelves and tiled flooring.
11. Here's my entry for category A
12. This is Tom, a renowned bard from Avalonia, who has wandered far and wide across Historica, sharing his songs and stories. His travels have taken him to countless venues, each with its own trials. In Kaliphlin, there’s always sand in his boots, in Mitgardia, he nearly freezes walking from the inn to the stage; in Varlyrio, the seas leave him queasy and seasick; and in Nocturnus, the crowds are always dead… literally. In the end, he always comes back to Avalonia. Today, Tom is performing at the Woodland Amphitheater, one of Avalonia’s premier destinations. This naturally formed amphitheater is famed for its excellent acoustics and draws a large crowd from across the nearby lands, including some famed Avalonian adventurers and lords. When concerts are held, the Woodland Amphitheater comes alive with vendors and traders who set up shop around the grounds. Today, visitors can enjoy a wide selection of food and drink at the amphitheater. Vendors offer beer and wine, serve honey-glazed chicken hot off the spit, offer pipe weed and other smokes, and even magical shrooms. Outhouses are also provided for guests.
Here are some overview shots of the build as well as a wip shot showing the stands. The amphitheater technique was roughly based on this build from Hardegon on Flickr.
The back of the build is built 5 bricks high so I can incorporate it into a LUG display we have been working on. Hope you enjoy!
13. Lovely build! I really like the use of rubber bands on the horns as designs. The door mosaic and floor patterning are also great. I can only imagine how much of a pain the floor was though
14. Thanks! The statues were fun to work on, the floor not as much ( I spilled it twice and had to rebuild )
15. • What drew you to Eurobricks and the Guilds of Historica? I found GoH and Eurobricks after seeing Derfel Cadarn’s builds on Flickr and seeing that they all shared a setting (the mystical land of Avonia ). I was interested in the fact that I could collaborate and add to this story alongside very experienced builders. • What aspect of the Guilds here do you like the most? The least? As others mentioned, I enjoy the relaxed pace and shared setting to build in. I took a break for ~3 years, and when I came back GoH was still here and I was able to jump right back in. I also enjoy the community of talented builders and the forum setting/ etiquette that focuses on detailed comments and feedback. I find that on many other platforms, feedback is limited to very short praise or , whereas in GoH members leave detailed commentary, critiques, and in depth feedback. I started out with GoH as my first exposure to the online Lego community and it was some of my first experience building MOCs, and the encouragement and positive feedback I received when first starting out was amazing, and it was coming from super talented builders! Because of that, I always try to leave at least semi detailed commentary when responding to builds and make an effort to encourage newer builders when I discover them. I’ve also noticed that many other GoH “alumni” do the same, not just on Eurobricks but across other platforms like Instagram and Flickr. Over the course of time that I have been building in GoH (I joined in 2014, so 11 years ago!) I have also greatly improved my building ability. The detailed feedback, inspirational builds and techniques from other builders, and setting that motivated me to create and build all helped me to grow, and the improvement from when I first started to my building skill now is astronomical. • Which challenges did you like the best and least? My favorite challenges were the 10 year anniversary series. I agree with Gideon that my least favorite was the Kaliphlin Civil War series of mini games. At the time I really enjoyed it, but in retrospect I prefer not to focus on super gamey mechanics and limited time challenges that encourage quantity over quality. Other notes: I first joined GoH in 2014, so it’s been 11 years! (Albeit with a 3-4ish year gap). Despite being a seasoned veteran at this point, I for a long time I felt like a bit of a latecomer, as by the time I joined 1 1/2 books had already passed, and many OG members had already come and gone. I haven’t been very active in recent times (as you can see by the fact that I am only responding to this 1 month later ), but I look forward to Book IV and future challenges!
16. Very cleanly built tower, I especially appreciate the wall technique!
17. Very nice build, perfectly Avalonian! I really like the dark green and tan color scheme for the building, and the vibe fields look great! Like Ecclesiastes said the classic forest man and majisto torsos work well for the field workers too!
18. Deep within a dungeon, a brave party of adventurers face off against a legendary golden armored dragon in an epic boss fight. The arena itself was inspired by a scene from the show Frieren: Beyond Journey's End, and was originally intended to be an entry for Brickscalibur, but I ran out of time. Hope you enjoy
19. The statue and giant troll are fantastic, and definitely highlights of the build! I love all the different units throughout the battle, there's lots of cool dynamic posing and fig designs to see!
20. Very cool jousting scene! I like the design of the jousting knights and how you were able to convey a sense of action through the posing. I'm also a fan of how the doorway is open, giving a glimpse into a scene beyond and adding more depth to the scene! Great work!
21. This is awesome! I always love seeing a good study / library / office type build with loads of cool details scattered throughout, and this definitely fits. I love the furniture designs, the fantastical clock, and the little creatures hanging in cages. i also like the design for the fireplace? , especially the fitting use of the new gargoyle piece.
22. The gold pile / heap with the dragon integrated looks very cool, and I like the dwarven architecture of the floor pattern and columns.
23. This is awesome! I really like the impressive bookshelves filled with cool trinkets and magical items, and the view through the window is great! The technique for the portal is also very cool!
24. Nice collection of Avalonian figs! I look forward to Sam Weatherstone's adventures!
25. Nice work with the stained glass windows! The overall building being fully round and domed shaped is impressive too, nice use of the hammer pieces throughout!
