  1. From what I understand....all Sea Rats Settlements are "Squatter settlements" and thus pay 50% for property licenses other than forts. From the "Land in the EGS" thread: "Squatter colonies only pay half of a license fee, except in the case of forts (see below)." From a post by KaiNRG in the Sea Rats thread (post 213): "It is there, under the squatter settlement section. Sea Rats always establish squatter settlements."
  2. Awesome....using it now! So...I take it the "minifig contest" and settlement income is under "other?" a category for settlements (mayoral income/expenses) would probably be helpful.... Edit: Also...just noticed, it's charging Full property License costs for Sea Rats, instead of 50%....or did I miss clicking something?
  3. Very nice little build! Funny story...a few years back, a guy I did construction with bought a house in Evergreen, Colorado.....turns out it was the childhood home of one of the South Park Creators...still owned by his parents! So...we were checking out the property and found a little darkroom in a closet off one of the bedrooms...... There was an elementary school picture on the counter...on the back it said, "To Matt, Your Friend, Kenny....."
  4. Very nice....I dig the multiple rooms and hallways....
  5. Sounds good! One other idea...regarding the ESL pirating kerfuffle.... If there are to be more "piratey" actions.....perhaps the "governed" factions should also have some "rule of law" to prevent their members from engaging in privateering.....not something that says they can't....but a court system (perhaps with MOC testimony) where, if found guilty, that player would be ejected from the "governed" faction and open to recruitment by the others. In other words, a mechanic to insure players behave as part of the faction they joined....If that makes sense....
  6. I don't recall that we took that action....as I recall, we organized a trade fleet before there was a "fleet registration" mechanism...and a couple of our folks filled out the forms wrong and thus were outside of the fleet. Our focus on trading is derived from member that had analyzed the game system and advised that nothing other than trade runs had any sort of redeemable profitability...that is, we were told the game system was skewed and it would be in our best interest to trade if we want to have any hope of making DBs..... Now, if that info is wrong, I would certainly love to know about it....but with the obfuscated game mechanics....and only certain players being aware of said "hidden" rules...how are we to make any sort of good decision....it's clear we get no advantage in any action...and we get less pay for it in the end.... I love playing the underdog....but the further we get into this game, I wonder why anyone else would join our faction....
  7. Wow...missed alot overnight.... Seems to me that the Sea Rats are the only faction that can't "make up the rules" when they want to......which, really is quite backwards.... All of these "courts" and megablocks is just getting a bit ridiculous.... ESL can reclaim their ships from an NPC nation (where they should be dead and gone) and we have no such option to resolve a PC vs. PC issue????? This is a building game.....if anyone wants a ship back....shouldn't is simply be a matter of MOCing that action and some sort of community vote on whether or not they succeed....or a random roll done by an official GM, not just any faction leader that wants to claim they are in charge? Unless I'm missing some "secret" in the rules....the Sea Rats are getting the raw end of the deal in this game....which wouldn't be bad if we had some sort of aggressive raid mechanic....but we don't..... The issue of what we are needs to be established.....are we a faction? a proto-nation?
  8. lol....not me...I can't stand the place....too full of ignorant biggoted mofos......that's why I went west....where the weed is legal!
  9. I think you may be referring to Charles town, South Carolina....now the modern city of Charleston....(my family is from there and I used to live there...) The settlement of Charles Town, North Carolina is reported to have been abandoned by 1670, 10 years before the birth of Edward Teach. Incidentally, if anyone should find themselves in the "deep south," know that referring to anything "south" Carolina as "north" Carolina may lead to physical assault, depending on the ignorance and sobriety of whomever you may speak with....
  10. I have a question about changes and MCRA action 4-2....."Cruising for Prey" This venture has several specification with regard to faction , individual and class of vessel to be attacked, etc....would the new rules possibly encompass the ability of a faction to "blockade" or "control and extort" a particular travel zone? For instance, could the "Sea Rats" chose to "blockade" zone two and have a roll for extorting funds or capturing loot from vessels they overtake in their zone?

  13. Whoops....fixed.... I think I already added it.....it's in my post where I posted the info about the first two settlements.....I was under the impression we were to edit our posts rather than making new ones...
  14. Colony Name: Takashii Ownership: Sea Rats Location: The Nest of Thieves (Sea of Storms) Mayor: Hattori Kurosawa (Vedauwoo) Trade Value: Who can own property in Takashii: Any Sea Rat that has trained at Kurosawa-san's "Shin Seikatsu Gakkō" or "New Life School" Who can freebuild in Takashii: Anyone Map: Settlement location - Takashii Village - Map modified from Ska's version Geography Notes: Takashii Village is located in square E-5 on the map, on the west side of a bend in The Lifeflow River. Navigation Notes: Due to the geological nature of the island, the Lifeflow River has a semi-regular depth of appx. 15 fathoms, allowing larger vessels access to the village. The depth of the river deceases sharply at the 5E/6E border, where the river transforms to falls and rapids in the higher country. 16. Sadly can't make it as that is the same weekend of our Denver Comic con display......and the theme is 75th anniversary of WonderWoman....so there's no way I'm gonna miss the "people" watching there....lol We have BrickFest in Denver on Early August....I plan to display something there...not sure how many of the US players are close enough to participate....
  17. Very nice work! You guys have the blue plates! We needed some of those for Brick Fest Live last year! lol
  18. May 7 for CoWLUG and the 14th for DenLUG...
  19. Hey there...I am the CoWLUG contact for the Brick Fest show....Both CoWLUG and DenLUG will be there...and hopefully some of the LUGs from Salt Lake, New Mexico and Kansas City..... It is different this year...it is a full AFOL "con" similar to their event in Philly.....Builders can get display space when they register and participate in various games and building contests. The Dates are August 11-14, with the first two days being AFOL-only....and public days for the Saturday and Sunday. Kevin Hinkle from LEGO is rumored to be attending as well. Here's info on how to join up with the local LUGs..... CoWLUG - Next meeting May 7th in Boulder at hobbyDB on Broadway DenLUG - Next meeting May 14th at the library in Castle Rock
  20. Mmmmmmm.......whale fat......I hear it's great for frying potato strips.....Rat Fries!
  21. Both fairly similar...and we often display at each other's shows.... CoWLUG has a bit more regular meetings...every other month, next in May....but less "central leadership"....lol I think DenLUG mainly started to help out folks from your area and south denver have more convenient meetings and shows...they often meet in Castle Rock. I usually try to attend both, as I live in the middle.... DenLUG has more "Technic" members...and members that work at the LEGO store...lol.....but alot of us are crossovers....
  22. "Piracy was sometimes given legal status by the colonial powers, especially France under King Francis I (r.1515–1547), in the hope of weakening Spain and Portugal's mare clausum trade monopolies in the Atlantic and Indian Oceans. This officially sanctioned piracy was known as privateering. From 1520 to 1560, French privateers were alone in their fight against the Crown of Spain and the vast commerce of the Spanish Empire in the New World, but were later joined by the English and Dutch."
