Beauty is certainly in the eye of the beholder. I’ve seen a lot of comments from people gushing over these & eager to buy(same with the Adidas shoes). I don’t hate these...but I won’t be a buyer either. I do kinda like the yellow shirt with the red 2x4.

Happens to the best of us. I had two D3 stickers left over & I couldn’t for the life of me figure out where(and I clearly didn’t look through the entirety of the book) I missed them originally. Then I was pointed in the right direction, it was the 2 1x6 yellow tiles on front of the Wheezes fella. Fortunately, it was easy enough to get to the pieces to apply the stickers. In my defense, it was getting late by the time I got there in the build...

This is fantastic. It looks so life like. Even knowing it’s not, it’s hard to tell. Those cabinet doors are especially noteworthy, the detailing is impressive. And I love all the plant life. And the staring contest happening.

Great, in depth review, Oky! I love the little HP quips you threw in there a bit as well. The little animations are fun too. I will slightly disagree with you on Lockhart. I think this new hair is more fitting that the old. But, I am a bit puzzled by the color of his suit. Perhaps it’s more a homage to him & his favorite color(as you noted) rather than accuracy. Which could be bad news for us, as this may be his only inclusion in the theme. Or, we’re getting him in an accurate color later. Either way, a proper sand blue suit for his signing appearance would’ve been fantastic. Onto the set. As a lover of brick bricks, it’s awesome to see so many in here, both quantity & color. And the amount of other great colors as well...all the door colors. If I were to take my love of HP out contention, this set is right up there with Ninjago City on favorite set. But loving HP as I do, it jumps ahead because of it. I would’ve liked to have gotten more real books though, even better in new colors. But, price....I get it.

While they wouldn’t do that with the hands, a People Pack would be fun. 14-15 students(or less for a cheaper price) with some room builds/furniture to go along with it. A Vanishing Cabinet would be awesome since we don’t have that yet. And the Daily Prophet side not extending up makes the pink more “in your face” because it’s longer than the others on either side of it. It makes the building look longer, even though it’s technically not.

Kinda makes it hard to stop after the first building... Just for fun...I added my own brick wall.

Just got through with the first building. What a fun build so far, love all the brick bricks! Honestly, I’m really excited to get the winking owl, as I didn’t want any of the City sets it came in. The details are great & Ollivanders is just outstanding. Now, to wait until tomorrow for the next building. I can do this...I can do this....

They’ve really knocked it out of the park with characters. Granted, we have CMF’s this time around that have given us so many great(and completely new) characters. But, we finally got Hufflepuff & Ravenclaw...even their Quidditch robes now. The Founders. Centaurs. A fan of Brickheadz, get it now. Points would be more worthwhile to me...but what do I know...I bought it on release. Rip it open! If there can be “Christmas in July” there certainly can be “Christmas in September.” Totally. As I’m typing this a FedEx truck drove by...they better stop on their way back or I’m giving chase!
-
Dude...tell me about it. I woke up to tracking telling me it’s out for delivery...this is going to be a long few hours, the last are the worst. And I heard a delivery truck just now, got all excited. It’s UPS....

So far I’ve only found them in Target. Official stores also have them, provided close ones are open to actually go in, which would probably be the best bet to getting a full box. It couldn’t hurt to ask at Target though. The minifguremaddness is out of the UK.

Ha...true. I looked briefly at the instructions, then glanced at mine, which I reversed the two parts in the set. I have the “dance floor” connected to the Great Hall, so I have the Prefects bathroom open.
-
Easy Grumpy Gus...being impatient, even over a kids toy, isn’t a bad thing. Especially a set like DA. And wanting another set in the mean time to distract from the constant refreshing of the tracking page(who does that?!) doesn’t make one ungrateful.

I’m all the way over on the other coast, but mine is also due to come on the 9th. Well, at the end of the Astronomy Tower instructions, it has the Clock Tower connecting to the backside of the Great Hall, with the stained glass being open to a connection point. But there’s also an open connection point next to the greenhouse. I wouldn’t give much to the “leak” because it’s pretty common knowledge that the set, whatever it will be, will connect to the Prefects bathroom.

This is me & my hope. I did manage to build Voltron over three days...but I’m not as crazed about Voltron like I am HP. And this will likely be me. I’m trying to stay away from too much pictures on the ol’ Instagram, but I’m pretty sure I’m not going ya want to stop after the first building. Mine is getting close...as of noon it was at the last usual check in point before reaching its destination to where it becomes “out for delivery.” While it says Wednesday, I’m hoping for a tomorrow delivery.

Has the LEGO group released too much 18+ sets this year?
Vindicare replied to JintaiZ's topic in General LEGO Discussion
I would say yes & no...which I did. I voted Yes it’s impossible to keep up over on Brickset but answered No, you don’t have to get all of them here. Just this year, I got the Haunted House, NES, and DA. I’m pretty much going to not be buying any LEGO for the rest of this year(with a probability of getting the WV) because early next year comes the Modular & then Ninjago Gardens, and possibly Mos Eisley Catina. While I don’t play the piano, I would love to get the Grand Piano(past sets like Treehouse & Barracuda Bay), because it’s a beautiful set & the play feature is brilliant. But, I could easily live without it compared to the ones I bought, or plan to buy early next year. -
I don’t think the monofigs have any real value as far as sought after minifigs go. I think it’s just something fun that people either buy complete or piece together themselves. Some even go so far as to remove the print off certain colors because a blank version doesn’t exist.
-
I certainly wouldn’t pay much for monofigs, but I can see the appeal & think they’re kinda fun. I’ve always thought it’d be fun to have them posing or interacting in a tabletown, but with no regular minifgs around. Just the nice, big detailed buildings & these odd, single color minifigs.
-
I wouldn’t mind the 12 minifig series...if we didn’t get the trio. Or Dumbledore. Or Neville. Or Luna. That’s half the series really got there. Although, I guess waiting to see who we get in the next wave before saying who should come in the hypothetical third series. There’s still a number of characters we need. Maybe even an Arthur to fill in the gap of DA.

Is it time for LEGO to stop being colorblind?
Vindicare replied to BrickG's topic in General LEGO Discussion
Heavily implied. Your first comment said fragile white folks while your second the more fragile ones would be calling for boycotts. As you said though, probably didn’t explain yourself well...happens to the best of us. Optics wise, and to outsiders, I see how flesh tones could be better. If you deem a yellow minifig X race, an unknowing person can’t really know that(if you show friends or take it to conventions or what have you). But that’s the beauty of the classic LEGO yellow, it can be anyone...or no one. It could be open to the viewer. -
Finally got my hands on the Forbidden Forest set. The centaurs are great & could definitely fit in CMF packets. So there’s hope of getting more centaurs in the future.
-
It’s merely the nature of collecting. There will always be a rarity among some things. Hot Wheels has their Treasure Hunt cars. A lot of companies have Con exclusive toys as well. Onto minifigs...I would say I’m an above average minifig collector. I’m with you on prices I’m willing to pay. That’s the exact reason I don’t have Velma yet...she’s up there. I can’t ever see myself paying the price for those Con minifigs, despite wanting a few of them. They’re only that price because people are willing to buy them...unfortunately. High prices also come from love of something. I have a friend who ended up buying Davy Jones for $60. He loves pirates & those movies(plus that minifig is amazing). It’s a funny thing, but I wouldn’t call it obsession. Collecting is addictive, in the non negative sense, and that makes some get the “I want them all” mindset.

But you specified white folks... boycotts...aren’t exclusive to white people. But I digress. Switching away from yellow would indeed make a lot of people, regardless, upset. Because if someone sees X race in a yellow minifig, that’s on them. As an adult, I just see people...as a kid, I probably didn’t care...but that was in the 80’s, when people were less visibly whiny than they are now. -
I assume it’s because of the current world predicament...does your store do prepacked BaM minifigs? I have seen some pictures, when the last batch of new exclusives were releasing, and they had the new torso & dog in it(and I believe hair as well). I know my store does this because I called...but sadly none of the new parts yet.

LEGO Collectable Minifigures Future Series Rumours
Vindicare replied to r4-g9's topic in Special LEGO Themes
Outside of HP, who I buy all of regardless, I also only buy who I find interesting. I hadn’t thought of that, that there’s now a lower chance of getting interesting characters. Shoot. In that case, at least it’s more money for sets. After all this time, it’s kinda weird they would suddenly cut the numbers like that. -
Interesting. I’m okay with this...except where HP is concerned. I want more HP, not less. Well, the current amount of HP...it’s easier to keep up with just the one wave a year. I do like the options for box size. I wonder if that means we’ll get two sets per small box & an assortment of others, or three exactly...
