I am a Children's Librarian in Missouri. Harry Potter is rarely on the shelf even though we have tons of copies of each book throughout our system. Whenever we have Harry Potter programs, we have full programs with waiting lists, and any cosplay programs regularly include characters from Harry Potter. Kids, teenagers, adults...we get them all. Even when no book or movie is coming out, we have not seen any kind of slow-down in interest for Harry Potter.

I'm kind of wondering if the idea that the D2C is Hogwarts is not so accurate...that instead we're getting several assortments which will result in a large Hogwarts, and the D2C is actually something else...maybe if Harry Potter themed, it's actually a Hogwarts Express with track and electronic components.

The Disney Castle, which cost $350, actually repeated several of the minifigures from the Collectible Minifig line that immediately preceded it. Donald and Daisy were exactly the same as the ones from the CMF series, Minnie was a repaint, and Mickey had a different outfit. The only completely exclusive character was Tinkerbell. I could see, if indeed such a large Hogwarts to cost $500 is being produced, that it will be light on minifigs. Maybe Harry, Moaning Myrtle, and the 4 House ghosts from the CMF line plus some kind of exclusive figure?

Yep...this is one of the first Marvel sets where the build seems even more exciting than the minifigs!

Thanks. I know you have answered numerous questions about the Sanctum already, so I apologize but wanted to ask one more. The Sanctcum building that is similar to the tower...is the set just one building that contains Peter's apartment as one of the levels, the pizza place as one of the levels, etc., or is there a separate building...so the Sanctum building but also a smaller structure that has Peter's apt and the pizza place. Thanks!

I kind of wonder if this info is PARTIALLY true. Aragog and the Whomping Willow with Ford Anglia could easily be one set. Both those scenes only revolve around Harry and Ron, both those scenes involve the Ford Anglia... So maybe there are 3 sets, but we actually don't know one of them yet. Great Hall, Whomping Willow/Anglia/Aragog set, and... I'm pretty excited about the Great Hall if true, and that suitcase sounds like a lot of fun. Hoping we get a lot more info at the Nuremberg Toy Fair starting on January 31st.

I did! I can't tell what the first of the four builds is...followed by yellow castle, pirate ship, and space. Also, it says purchase free with $125, but it also says $25 value. Does this mean we can buy the set for $25???

i kind of wonder if the rooms are a clue to who we may see in a second series. Belle, Aurora, Robin Hood, etc.

Fantastic Beasts 2018 - Speculation & Future Set Discussion
BigHobbit replied to Ookami's topic in LEGO Licensed
Bless you, CM4Sci. You've never steered me wrong before, so I appreciate this. I was hoping that merchandising news for this movie is just a little too early.and you said HARRY POTTER...ahhhhh!!!! My entire toy budget for this year depends on what's coming with JK Rowling's Wizarding World in LEGO form. Lol. Any idea when we might hear something official? -
Trying not to envision this too much as He-Man, as I'm a big fan of that series. I don't want to get TOO excited before I see the pics. :-) I believe I read a while back that a mobile fortress might be involved, which could be pretty cool.
-
Thanks, CM4Sci! Looks promising from the logo...definitely something I am interested in...can't wait to see the first image or two to see what minifigs and/or sets may look like.

As much as I'm anticipating my first official look at the sets, I'm kind of enjoying the intrigue. I imagine the that Disney and its toy partners are attempting to build up the excitement and get people to go to the actual stores on September 4th to get their first up-close look and purchase the toys. I sometimes miss the days of coming into a toy store and being surprised about what's on the shelf. Regardless of how you feel, it's nice chatting with people who are just as anxious for the sets as I am!

To be fair, while I love thebrickfan, that statement is in error. Brick Fanatics never said it was based off Be Cool, Scooby Doo.

I've been excited about this set since the very first rumor (big fan of mysteries and the old noir feel), but I'm even more excited after your delightful review. I ordered it this morning and can't wait to get it...four gift cards and VIP points were well spent.

You rock, just2good! Thanks for all these images!

I agree completely on Aladdin, but the sets themselves due look nice. That Frozen one is going to be pretty darn popular. Feel better, just2good! Glad you're getting to a doctor...my cold turned into bronchitis and took a couple weeks to get over.

It would be really cool (albeit unlikely) if Lego would release pics on September 19th--Talk Like a Pirate Day.

General Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit Questions
BigHobbit replied to jmagaletta's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
I don't know if polybags are available, but you'll get Gandalf if you decide to go for the 79003 Unexpected Gathering that others have recommended (and which is also my favorite LOTR/Hobbit set). -
The Castle is going to be $100, as confirmed on a press release. "LEGO Galaxy Squad, a new space fantasy theme, allows builders 8 and up to role play as the hero team saves the galaxy from a swarm of alien insects. Each of the 10 models in the collection ($11.99-99.99) offers a split feature function, turning every large model into two separate vehicles with ease. The 25th anniversary of LEGO Castle is marked by five new sets, including Gold Getaway ($19.99) and King's Castle($99.99), to build a classic kingdom of knights in shining armor, dragons and treasure for builders ages 5 and up. LEGO NINJAGO, one of the most popular LEGO properties ever introduced centered on the story of four young Ninjas mastering the art of Spinjitzu, enters its third year with six new sets ($9.99-$69.99) that introduce the Gold Ninja. Fans of all ages will want to collect 48 never-before-seen LEGO Minifigures ($2.99 each) via three new series releasing throughout the year." Original source = http://www.reuters.c...160 PRN20130207

I'm betting the gatehouse has the connection points is for those who don't want their castle in a square configuration so each side connects. Then maybe the gatehouse can connect to one of the Castle sides.

I have heard August repeatedly.

I really like the Dragon Mountain set (or Dragon Peak, or whatever it's called). It looks much better than the preliminary pic, which looked closer to the gray Castle colors. So glad I decided to hunt on Flickr.
