This looks to be the best technic set in this wave, and damn I really want it. I might end up ending my dark age and caving. It's beautiful!

42054 - Claas Xerion 5000 Trac VC
TheRacker replied to Jim's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Going by other big sets from Pounds to Dollars $160-$170 is right where it should be, assuming it'll really be 120 pounds. -

So are we looking at $160-$170 for this set then? That's not too bad for 1900 pieces and a licensed set. I'll definitely pick it up. -
42055 - Bucket Wheel Excavator
TheRacker replied to Jim's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
This looks awesome to pick up just as a parts donor. Nearly 4k pieces and most of which are grey, which is great for building the frame/base of just about anything. -
This is absolutely stunning! You could definitely get it to pay for itself by renting it out to lego and star wars events haha. But really this is some next level MOCing right here. I'm blown away.

Any word on if this will be sold in limited numbers or not? -
42056 - Porsche Speculation
TheRacker replied to Jim's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
To everyone saying the box/instructions whatever is excessive and they just want to buy lego for the lego, you need to understand that Porsche I'm sure pushed very hard for what this model will be like. The probably said that this won't just be another set, you want to make a nice Porsche model, well you'll have to make it a whole premium experience from the moment you pick up the box to be representative of the Porsche brand. This isn't just another car for billy to build, it'll probably be on display in Porsche dealerships and sold at their factory and such where wealthy older guys will walk in and see it and remember their lego from when they were a kid and want to pick it up. Porsche wants this to be an experience, and not just the same as other lego sets. It's brand advertising for them. So yeah it sucks about the price but that's probably what it takes to get such a great model with the Porsche license behind it. -
[MOD] UCS Slave 1 (anti-droop/bend when on stand)
TheRacker replied to ArchieNov's topic in LEGO Star Wars
Wow even Lego employees paint bricks sometimes, I guess that justifies it to myself a little more haha. -
It's a shield generator not a radar dish /pedantic Otherwise this looks amazing!

Everything is so nice except for the cannons on the top and bottom. They kinda look slapped together in 2 minutes and the hing especially looks pretty bad :/ As a whole though it's fantastic.

What're your favorite and least favorite Star Wars sets?
TheRacker replied to Loco de Lego's topic in LEGO Star Wars
What is so bad about the Technic R2-D2? I have that set and love it, I thought all the technic star wars models were really cool. But maybe that's just because I'm a huge technic fan as well. -
This is fantastic! Does it still use magnets or did you find a different solution?

[MOC] WIP modifying LEGO 75095 UCS TIE fighter
TheRacker replied to sparkart's topic in LEGO Star Wars
Looks fantastic! The only issue is the sagging wings, but I don't think that's really fixable. -
I think it would be greatly improved if you just took the minifigure off of it, because then that makes people think it's to minifigure scale and that makes the whole model look off. On it's own it's fantastic though.

Trucks aren't supposed to have independent suspension or anything. This model is build like real trucks are with how the suspension is set up.

Churchill tank
TheRacker replied to Sariel's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
I was just more curious of the internal mechanics, seeing where the 4 motors were, how you routed power to the treads, stuff like that. I can just see one motor and a few sparse gears in your two pictures. It's not that I want to copy it, I just like seeing how things work. -
That has to be the most god awfully scaled set ever, I hope that was sarcasm. It's because minifigures are so fat for their height, they have to make the bikes huge to keep the correct looking profile of a long, thin, sleek machine without the minifig looking like a pig sitting on top of it.

It looks like it turns in one direction a lot more than the other, because the shock blocks it after a certain point.

Your work in progress pics show hardly anything though. -
Noob question about unimog
TheRacker replied to 9v system's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
It would take half the time to google unimog instead of creating this topic and checking back for replies. Plus You'd get much more info. -
He might have come off as pretentious, but he probably thought you didn't realize the practical error you made when building it, because you made no mention of it. It's like if you saw someone post about a car that they were making but it was missing a wheel, and you said that putting the 4th wheel on would stop it from tipping, only to find out later that the OP took a wheel off as a stylistic choice.

How to fix the Republic Gunship(75021) ball turrets
TheRacker replied to TheRacker's topic in LEGO Star Wars
Did you see these pictures: http://imgur.com/a/xSPem and this one specifically: http://imgur.com/M52nP4p That's how you build the door, but change the hinge connection to the one I posted a little earlier in the thread saying it was stronger, and modify the body like I pointed out in the edited instructions. Also I hope I'm not bumping this old thread too much, sorry mods.- 27 replies
