  1. This may have happened after assembling it, I have had a lot of connectors like that have cracked, it's usually caused by bending the axle when the axle is halfway in the connector. It should still work fine, but it won't have as much friction. Or it could have been caused by sitting for some time. This the tension from the axle cracked the connector at the weakest point.
  2. here's a video of the autoloader removed from the vehicle.
  3. Lego ISU-152 (RC) by Tommy Styrvoky, on Flickr I present my latest model, a ISU-152 Soviet heavy self propelled gun. It was built off of the chassis of my IS-2, the 152mm cannon can fire technic beams with a 6 round autoloader. Features full suspension with self tensioning track gun elevation/depression 6 round autoloader led lights Lego ISU-152 (RC) by Tommy Styrvoky, on Flickr Lego ISU-152 (RC) by Tommy Styrvoky, on Flickr Lego ISU-152 (RC) by Tommy Styrvoky, on Flickr Lego ISU-152 (RC) by Tommy Styrvoky, on Flickr Lego ISU-152 (RC) by Tommy Styrvoky, on Flickr Lego ISU-152 (RC) by Tommy Styrvoky, on Flickr Lego ISU-152 (RC) by Tommy Styrvoky, on Flickr Lego ISU-152 (RC) by Tommy Styrvoky, on Flickr Lego ISU-152 (RC) by Tommy Styrvoky, on Flickr Lego ISU-152 (RC) by Tommy Styrvoky, on Flickr Lego ISU-152 (RC) by Tommy Styrvoky, on Flickr Lego ISU-152 (RC) by Tommy Styrvoky, on Flickr
  4. I think it will turn out ok, I think there will be wheel wells on the outer wheels, so roughly the width of the front axle will be 17-19studs, if I am correct .
  5. I think so, but I found out that the addition of another rubber band causes it to disengage. I'm not 100% sure, but the smooth ring works better in this application, as there is little friction to change between firing and reloading.Lego ISU-152 (RC) by Tommy Styrvoky, on Flickr More progress on the complex shape of the casemate, the rear sides of it aren't parallel, they have a small slope to them as they meet up with the engine deck.
  6. Some more progress, I have mounted the gun to the chassis and it has elevation/ depression, though I am unable to have side to side traverse, as the autoloader would hit the back wall. This isn't much of a problem, as the real vehicle didn't have much room to traverse the gun too. Lego ISU-152 (RC) by Tommy Styrvoky, on Flickr
  7. If anyone was wondering what the insides of the turret looks like or the gearbox for the turret, I have removed it and took detailed photos. 8. Some progress, I have removed the turret of the IS-2 Lego IS-2 by Tommy Styrvoky, on Flickr
  9. I'm not using a ridged technic connector for the technic driving ring, it is using a newer smooth variant. I Think the high torque is preventing it from loosing all of its purchase on the clutch gear. The ridged connector snaps the ring out of gear, when it begins to move under torque. So the smooth variant may work better in high torque applications, though it has no rigid rings for the selector to snap into.
  10. Well this is the start of a conversion from my TC6 IS-2, to a Heavy self propelled gun that mounts a 152mm howitzer in a casemate on the hull of the vehicle. Its purpose was to obliterate concrete fortifications and other armored vehicles too... A video of the firing mechanism of the autoloader in action. 11. Any idea how much torque the motor outputs, as I have a spare M motor casing from a broken motor.
  12. I tried running a IR receiver off of The old style battery box and I read somewhere that there isn't power being transferred to all 4 power connectors on the IR. the only way to fix this is to modify the extension cord's outputs to power all 4 connectors.
  13. Yeah, he had hopped in front of the camera when I was filming. He didn't seem too bothered by it and he jumped up on the desk.
  14. I was going to do that, but the camera battery died in the cold...

  16. Jim, I have a entry that is ready, Could you rename the topic to IS-2 Heavy tank, and open up the entry topic please.
  17. The model is complete, I added some decals to it and tweaked some parts of it. The model can tear through the snow and it is probably one of my most reliable models, in only walked the tracks off twice during filming. Lego IS-2 Heavy Tank (RC) by Tommy Styrvoky, on Flickr I finally understand the reasoning behind having a MG mounted in the back of the turret, as it can be used when the turret is rotated around. Lego IS-2 Heavy Tank (RC) by Tommy Styrvoky, on Flickr suspension Now I just have to wait for Jim to unlock the Entry topic...
  18. It may look that way from the perspective, but the edges of the turret are touching the sides of the hull, and it overhangs slightly off the front and the rear of the turret is right next to the dish on the engine deck.
  19. I think it would perform worse with L motors, as when I tested the chassis with them, they had to have 1:5 reductions. I have the XLs using a 12:20 ratio, so the model is somewhat quick and still very powerful. I reuse them, but maybe in the future when I have enough PF parts I can have 2-3 models assembled.
  20. Jim could you unlock the entry topic, as I may have a entry soon ?
  21. well I had an early release of school, so that freed up 7 hours of my time( robotics was canceled too). I utilized that time to basically finish the turret. I attempted to replicate the curves and odd angles of the turret, and I think I did a good job making the cast turret. All that's left to add is various bins and stuff, I will also attempt to make some decals for the model. 22. I doubt it as led's aren't consider a function, maybe if the motor powered some sort of blinking mechanism, it may count.
  23. more slow bits of progress, I made the gun elevation mechanism and the barrel. I think the muzzle brake turned out ok, as there are limitations with creating circles of varying diameters. Lego IS-2 (RC) by Tommy Styrvoky, on Flickr The muzzle brake, I really wish it wouldn't have the square part. Otherwise without the 2x2 round plate, the muzzle looks odd.
