  1. Cool model, the forklift is a cool concept, I don't think I have seen a technic forklift mounted on the back of a trailer before.
  2. Maybe it would make sense to have a topic where people could post questions in, like a pinned questions about technic sets, comparisons, speculation, ect. That would remove a lot of the numerous topics like what set is better, differences between sets, pros and cons. maybe a pinned preview topic too, as teasers seem to be a little useless, as they do use up space for other fully released MOCs. Personally I think a topic should have to meet certain requirements to be posted, like having to have lego technic related content, having photos of the MOC/WIP/rough sketches/Blueprints/Images of real vehicle. Though I do understand the Feelings of enthusiasm when one comes up with a great new concept and wants to rush a post with little information. Age seems a bit irrelevant, as most people that I see building with technic seem to be mature enough as they have interest in mechanisms/technical aspects of Lego. Also I know some people find the WIP threads to be taking up space. I know during TC6 and MINI contest, I posted tons of photos, like with the Renault FT-17, I posted near 90 photos of it, but I found the topics to be useful, not just because it gives one a little popularity, but it helped provide feedback to me on what I needed to change with the model. The WIP threads also provide information to other builders, by seeing how other people like to build their models, and if there is enough information/photos, someone could reverse-engineer the MOC.
  3. Well here's some progress so far on the chassis, I have made the locations for the 2 L motors, and the rear axe is suspended. The steering rack is in place, and the deployable ram works too. Lego Defiler (RC) by Tommy Styrvoky, on Flickr Ram in outwards position, it is quite sturdy, and it deploys out 6 studs from the closed position, and locks in the closed and farthest position with a rubber band system. 4. This will be a fun contest, it would be interesting to see at the end what side would win, based on weaponry, stealth, and maybe votes. I will have to first build my model without motors in it and add them at a later time,as I have most of my motors tied up in other projects.
  5. Defiler by Tommy Styrvoky, on Flickr Well I present a idea of mine for the latest TC7 contest, It has inspiration from Road Warrior and a couple street rods I saw last year at Back to the Fifties street rod show, and I will be going to that again next weekend.... more inspiration ... Like seeing vehicles with V12 engines and other crazy stuff mounted in a Ford Model A chassis. Another Rod by Tommy Styrvoky, on Flickr and other inspiration from Fury Road "Elvis" So far my current plans are to create a vehicle based on a model A body with different weapons mounted inside of it, like one of my various weapons systems is either based on a 20mm cannon system... or something more modern, a bushmaster m242 25mm auto-cannon.... as bigger is better This weapon will feature a folding system to deploy it and it may also feature a means of recoiling back and forth to simulate firing. another thought for defense would be a frontally mounted ram that would either deploy from in front of the radiator, like the War rig in Mad Max Fury Road
  6. Great model, It is nice to have actual footage of the real machine for reference, what program did you use to animate the collection device ?
  7. I would say the most difficult components is the location of motors and gear reductions within a compact model, and suspension components, as they affect the driveline of the model.
  8. How strong are the printed parts? as If one wanted to produce stronger durable ones, the part could be sanded down to remove the grainy bits from the printer and create a mold and use resin to cast it, instead of printing.
  9. Well a Teaser of it, I had a few issues with the bogies outside, the wheels are slightly larger than 3 studs, thus I had to pull the connectors out slightly to prevent binding, though the wheels kept binding and slowing the model down, maybe it may perform better indoors. 10. well more progress, it now has a body... though I am limited with my curved pieces, so it is sorta boxy, but I think everything looks fine except for the rear of the vehicle( the wheel wells ). It's nearly complete, it lacks small details and minor modifications to the body. 11. Amazing find, It's a really cool idea of showing the endless possibilities of the the EV3 system. What next a whole band of EV3 controlled musicians ?
  12. Well the start of yet another Mad Max related MOC.. maybe a cool idea for the next contest... During the viewing of the latest film of Mad Max Fury Road I kept thinking of Doc_Brown's Monster truck (Known as Bigfoot in the film) and when I first saw the Peacemaker pull up into the recently blocked valley pass , I was... well awestruck by the idea of putting a car chassis on a Ripsaw. After the completion of the film, I was amazed by all of the vehicles in the film, my first thoughts were of building the War Rig, but I realized that I lacked the proper tires for that (though seeing one of those with Unimog tires ... maybe in the far future, like all of the models that I dream of building, but lack the funds for. ) So I came to the idea of building a smaller model that I know I have the parts to build... and I have to do this by the end of the week, as I would like to have a couple models to display during my graduation party. Over saturday, I began to design the suspension and side rails for the return rollers. Today I returned to the project and finished up the Ripsaw's chassis, now I have to build the body for the Challenger that sits on top of the Ripsaw's roll cage. This model seems to perform well with a soft suspension and two L motors with no reduction to the drive sprockets. There is a differential between the drive shafts to the sprockets, this is used to power a V6 motor in the center of the vehicle. Though It prefers to be driven forwards, rather than reverse, as it has some issues with friction causing the last bogie to be flicked upwards away from the drive sprocket. Anyways, I present the progress so far, I plan to make a body for it, In the film it is a shade of yellow mixed with rust, I may change the yellow to red, and use brow to replicate some rust, as I have more red tiles than yellow, or light bluish grey is also a option... 13. It is a Howe & Howe Ripsaw, there is a video here about them testing it prior to production. Also I have quite a bit of progress on the model, I should be posting it later on today.
  14. I was tempted to build the war rig, but I have my servo motor tied up in another model I am working on, and It seems obvious that everyone will reconstruct that vehicle because of its crucial role in the film.
  15. I just saw the movie, it was epic and I am at a loss of words for describing it. Though it never had a dull moment in it. I am tempted to build the ripsaw like vehicle from the movie.
  16. Lego M4 Sherman Crab Tank (RC) by Tommy Styrvoky, on Flickr More progress on this beast, the insides are becoming packed with PF components, hopefully I will find a decent mounting point for the IR receivers. So far the model contains 6 motors, and it's missing the turret, that will be powered by an additional 2 motors. The PTO for the flail has been changed to match the original vehicle. Some of the basic shrouding has been mounted for the mechanisms to power the flail. Due to a lack of IR receivers, I combined the function of shifting the gearbox, and lowering the flail to being connected by having two motors power each component, this allows the clutch in the mini LA to let the other M motor provide power to the worm gears that drive the large LA's. Lego M4 Sherman Crab Tank (RC) by Tommy Styrvoky, on Flickr I have also adjusted the design of the transmission housing to cover up the knob gears that drive the sprockets Lego M4 Sherman Crab Tank (RC) by Tommy Styrvoky, on Flickr Lego M4 Sherman Crab Tank (RC) by Tommy Styrvoky, on Flickr Here's a couple photos of the flail in action from a couple photos where a 1/400 shutter speed was selected. 17. Now I'm tempted to make a camera vehicle...

  19. Lego M4 Sherman Crab (RC) by Tommy Styrvoky, on Flickr I got the Flail mounted on along with all of the remaining motorized components. The most difficult part so far, is the transmission housing on the front between the drive sprockets, this is the 5th rendition of it, and I think it's as close as i can get without having to remove the knob gears that drive the sprockets. video below (click on image to view) Lego M4 Sherman Crab (RC) test by Tommy Styrvoky, on Flickr
  20. The 5L tracks would be better for a M4A3E8 Sherman, as with Sariel's scaler says that they would be 3 studs wide with the current tires being 3.75 studs wide.
  21. Well I thought I would revive this project and start from scratch with a new suspension design, so far it utilizes torsion bars and provides proper spacing for the road wheels. Though there is some bad news too, after the completion of my Universal carrier, I have had some issues involving my parents and my time allotted to building, they still insist on "growing up" prior to college... But this means that this could be my final model prior to college, so I intend to make it my best, and I decided to focus on building the Crab variant with the flail. so I plan to mount 8-9 motors as it is, right now I have currently 2 XL's and they seem to work fine with a 16:20 reduction between the transmission's 1:1 and 12:20 ratios, there is space in the front for an additional reduction if a user chooses to modify this model. so far here is my current bits of work on the hull. 22. great model, the lowrider function is amazing.
