  1. I think that armour's oriented that way because it didn't sit quite right the other way round. I'll see if I can turn it around when I revisit it. The MOC is actually mostly built, it's literally just missing some ball joints with axles and some "greeble" spikes to distribute the orange a bit more for a more cohesive colour scheme, both of which should be arriving in the post this week. Oh, and he's also missing his woman partner, the Queen Beast I am sure I could behead my reimagined Mighty Steed MOC (now using the head in the original post) to show you the Beastfather with the custom head for you when he's finished, as a little bonus...
  2. The Beastfather MOC is coming along nicely (I've decided to use the small head from the previous WIP pic, but the big head has been integrated into another MOC). Now here is the WIP tail of the beast. Hopefully this should scream to you "Godzilla-like Beast". As you can see, it's armour plated on the top, but there isn't much at the bottom due to the construction of it. Once again, looking for your thoughts! Do you like it as is, or where could it be improved? I'm especially looking to see if you think there is enough shells on it, the sides and bottom are a bit bare bones really due to it's construction (but this seemed to be the only way to get a chunky yet cohesive tail, I didn't particularly like solutions involving lots of torso bones...) and I can't really fit them on either. Hero Factory MOC - Beastfather tail WIP by TheOneVeyronian, on Flickr Once again, feel free to leave your thoughts and tips either here or on Flickr. It's probably not as interesting as the heads, but the tail is also an important part of the MOC!
  3. I don't think so. Rancorbait's running it under the same conditions as I am, with LDD2POV-Ray open throughout the process, and it works for me upon restarting the render but not for him. From further chat with rancorbait, it may very well be a problem with the computer he's using, but we can't be sure until he tries to run it on a new computer. I'll let him elaborate for you if he needs to.
  4. The summer Hero Factory sets are now available from both eBay and Amazon Marketplace for immediate dispatch in the UK if anyone just can't wait to order them. I've just bought my first Crystal Beast and hope to share my planned modifications soon
  5. I should expand on rancorbait's problem a bit (we've been having a lengthy conversation to try and pinpoint the problem). His problem only seems to occur whenever he stops a render in POV-Ray and attempts to restart it on his computer (normally necessary to be able to follow tutorials for glowing parts etc). He can otherwise render with no problems. I'll let rancorbait elaborate more on this if he needs to.
  6. I just noticed this thread! Anywho, please add me, I'm in West London, England.
  7. Oh yeah, I did forget about that one (been using POV-Ray all day so my mind seems set on that), but it wouldn't have made the Beast look so original, so to say, so yes the orange looks miles better already.
  8. Magic Eraser. Works wonders on removing printing. But don't worry, it's just a spare I bought from BrickLink in case you thought I had robbed one of my Splitter Beast's heads of it's eyes Well, I wanted to use the Flyer Beast top head (imo my favourite of the printings of that part), and the lower half only comes in black unprinted, so to make it "pop" a little more, I removed the printing from an orange one. But that's something for the customisation forum The MOC already is a big investment - it's tying up all the dark coloured shells I have as it is, and I still had to go order some more from BL! Anyway, I think I've settled on using the smaller head in this case, but don't worry, that bigger head has already found a use in another MOC I'm revamping (guess which one...) I'll get some more WIP pictures up of parts I'm unsure on in the next few days, up to the reveal of the actual MOC in August as it says in the picture in my signature.
  9. I see what you're saying, and in fact, the more I look at it, the more I think I should stick with my original plan - the small head (see picture in my sig) and use the other head for a revamped Mighty Steed or something. The big head's just a tablescrap with whatever I could grab, that's why some of the colours might look off Oh, and the monster is definitely going to be bipedal with proportions perhaps similar to a Godzilla like creature (with longer arms though). Everything is huge compared to the small beast head The monster was also originally going to have 12 (yes, twelve!) heads, but I've ditched all but one now.
  10. I'm hoping the same is true for the UK brand stores too (but it probably isn't), I'll probably be popping round to two brand stores in the next two weeks, so I'm going to keep an eye out. I can't wait to put my planned MODs into practice
  11. So... I've been hinting at this in my signature for a while and the MOC itself is coming along nicely, so I thought I'd make a topic about it. I'm currently working on a head for it, and I wasn't sure which head to use on an MOC that's going to be almost 50cm tall, and bulky - traditional or built from scratch: Hero Factory MOC - Beastfather head ideas WIP by TheOneVeyronian, on Flickr I'll reveal the rest of the Beastfather MOC in due course, but for now, I'd like to seek opinion on which head I should use, so please leave your thoughts either here or on Flickr (though here is probably easier ) The one on the left is still a WIP, but it's finished enough to show so you get the idea. I plan to have the rest of the Beast with a black, pearl dark gray, gold, trans-bright green and orange colour scheme, with the dark colours taking dominance, in case that helps.
  12. Comes up "usually dispatched within 2 to 5 weeks" for me - I think I'll hold off until my local LEGO store has them in. Speaking of the new sets, the new instructions have meant that I've already leaped into generating modifications on LDD. This is what I did to Rocka Crawler (it was going to get it's own topic, but I think I'll hold off until I've actually built them in real life): LEGO Hero Factory MOD - 44023 Rocka Crawler (render) by TheOneVeyronian, on Flickr
  13. If you don't mind me asking, if I made those photos private, wouldn't they become unviewable on my Eurobricks set review pages? It's the only reason I've been hesitant to do it, otherwise they would have been long hidden by now . I did consider creating a Brickshelf account for purposes of set review photos but I just couldn't click with it I guess. I like my photos to be available instantly as I just like to get things done
  14. Well, consider that Strainor and Stealthor have already appeared in at least 2 sets, and Sykor only one poly. Sykor's the logical choice (with a healthy dash of hopefulness too I guess) (and anyway, if he's too savage to drive a Speedor, why is he on an ice cruiser in the poly? Sounds like he's too savage to drive anything), and that said, stranger things have happened with LEGO. Oh, and by the way, I think you mean Frax is poly exclusive, not Firox Firox is the book exclusive. But that Sykor poly better not be US exclusive... especially with an exclusive figure in there that I need But if someone from the US would like to swap a Sykor poly for a Frax poly, I won't say no...
  15. Ah, that makes more sense now Thanks for the tip!
  16. Even now I can go online and buy a Voltix set for 40% off it's original RRP. There was just too much going on in that set, I could literally hear the colours having a mass argument with each other But, at least it provided me with some more purple parts for me to make a purple version of my usual sigfig It took me a while to get my head around this, but I quite like this idea. Fully closed shells? Yes please. More connection points like bars and clips on existing shells? Oh yes, I dare say that a couple of such pieces may even have improved the mechs we got this year with HF. We saw it a little with Brain Attack torsos, but even then the new connection points were quite hard to use.
  17. Do you mean this part? A sliding door is a neat idea, it should work for the narrow bedroom definitely. I do have to work more on the look of the square master bedroom too.
  18. Hello! I know, it's been a while since I last popped into the Town forum, but I thought I'd share my minifig scale static caravan LDD MOC with you. For those who are wondering what a static caravan is, the US might know it as the typical mobile home. The UK has mobile homes too, but they're much smaller than these "static" caravans. Using these static caravans as holiday homes where I'm from (the UK) is pretty big business in the summer, and I for one used to go on holiday as a kid in one of these static caravans (they're static for a reason in the UK - they're too big for our roads and only moved when necessary). Hopefully that made a bit of sense, now for some pics. I tried to fit in all the details you'd normally see in these things, including living room, kitchen, boiler cupboard, bathroom and 2 bedrooms. I would have rendered all the pics, but at 17 and a half hours per render, there was absolutely no way, so it's just the one render here It's my very first render too, so still learning it... LEGO LDD MOC - Static caravan 1(render) by TheOneVeyronian, on Flickr Alternate view: LEGO LDD MOC - Static caravan 2 by TheOneVeyronian, on Flickr A living room, with sofa/couch and TV, and a little kitchen. LEGO LDD MOC - Static caravan 3 by TheOneVeyronian, on Flickr Another view of the kitchen, bathroom, boiler room and the 2 bedrooms. I know - the bedrooms could do with more detailing, but with such little space to work with, it was a bit difficult. Also limited by the door sizes available to be honest, I like my doors to be functional LEGO LDD MOC - Static caravan 4 by TheOneVeyronian, on Flickr Probably my favourite bit: the obligatory sofa bed. I wouldn't be surprised if it was more comfortable than typical static caravan sofa beds LEGO LDD MOC - Static caravan 5 by TheOneVeyronian, on Flickr And the bed folds back in to become the sofa again. LEGO LDD MOC - Static caravan 6 by TheOneVeyronian, on Flickr Just a plan view of the whole MOC, roof detached. LEGO LDD MOC - Static caravan 7 by TheOneVeyronian, on Flickr That is all for now. If you liked this MOC, please let me know by way of a comment here, or a fave or comment on Flickr Any positive constructive suggestions for how to improve the MOC would be good too (but don't just say you don't like something about it, say how you'd make that something better ). Maybe one day I'll build this for real, but I have far too many projects still to do...
  19. Yes, but I highly believe the other two figures we're going to see in the Speedorz sets are Fire Razar and Sykor, so Fang Trap is also likely to be a Fire based set. Who knows just yet? Personally, since the fire claws (like the one on Laval's speedor) already appear in 3 Speedorz sets, getting them a fourth time would be a bit... boring. And, well, rhinoceros don't have claws, so it'd look pretty odd anyway I'd love to see the muscle arms though.
  20. Just as I had predicted from the weapon bios. Now to wonder which Speedorz set he'll be in...
  21. Oh yeah, I should point out that I have absolutely no experience with building reputation on social media because I've avoided it heavily in the past (and for the most part, still do, I will never be on Facebook, Twitter etc.), so yes you can say I'm completely clueless, so forgive the questions I did forget to say in my previous post that I have been dropping some comments on some builds too (I prefer to comment than fave, but problem is, if I haven't got some form of constructive advice with compliment to give, I don't say or do anything!), but I think to be really in people's faces (not literally ), I'm firstly going to have to find more people to follow. How long would you say it's taken some of the big guys to get such an enormous following anyway? I would have imagined at least a year of constant activity, maybe more. So true... I wish they'd just leave it alone rather than keep changing it to become more unuseable. I'm looking at you, the update before last!
  22. Beautiful stuff there! I'm glad the ball cup worked out, and I'd definitely be interested to see your real-life CAD take on my sketch drawing idea The yellow-white ones though almost look like they glow in the dark (I know they don't though)
  23. Sorry for double posting, but I've tried all the advice given here. I'm adding to quite a few groups now, I'm following a few builders (I'm not following for the sake of following either), faved a few pics, and at first it caused quite a surge of activity on my photostream. Now... it's dead as a dodo again I don't get it, I'm uploading new stuff, adding it to several groups, but I don't get a second glance. It's like I don't exist in any of those groups I've joined. It doesn't help that a few of my favourite builders get, like, 30 faves on anything they post in a matter of hours and I don't know how they do it. I hate to ask, but what is it I'm doing wrong now? Or is it just a case of "if you wait, it will come" now? Also, how often should I upload new stuff to attract existing and new followers? I can't quite do something new every single day... (p.s. can't do much more about the photography, I'm working with a fairly standard camera because I spent all my money on LEGO )
  24. Thanks for the nice comments guys! You would probably find a meeting with the character in the MOC (if he were real) very annoying then But jokes aside, opinions differ and thanks for the nice comment! I was actually quite surprised myself how much the MOC actually resembled the artwork when I cropped it to a square, in fact I liked it so much it's now my avatar in case you didn't notice
  25. I really like this MOC, it's just so full of character. I don't know if this is just the photography though (or if it's deliberate), but I'd change the flat silver fingers on the hand by it's mouth, they don't really match the colour of the fingers on the other hand (or vice versa). Overall, really great work and I look forward to what you do next!
