  1. Just out of interest, what were you thinking in terms of waist articulation? In theory, both Evo XL Machine and the Queen Beast have a rudimentary form of waist articulation (though the XL Machine's one is more articulate I dare say). I guess you mean full waist articulation (left to right and up to down), like a massive ball joint maybe? That would definitely be interesting to see though
  2. Count me in for someone that wants new hand pieces with articulate fingers and axle holes too. The current CCBS hands only really look good when they're holding stuff in my opinion, and I've recently switched to using brick built hands on my sigfig and other MOC's because, more often than not, many of my MOC's never hold weapons. The problem then is that it's extremely hard for them to hold anything without having to resort to blue tack or something like that. So I'm all in favour of getting a new hand piece that offers the best of both worlds. Something a bit like in this concept sketch I did would be great. But thinking about it, LEGO has given us 2 types of feet (in case anyone's not familiar with them, which I doubt, it's this one and this one) with the capability of having articulated toes this year, so I'm willing to bet that there's a new articulate hand in the pipeline too
  3. I really like the Matoran idea as well, the one thing that I feel Hero Factory was missing was readily available extra small sets like that. I know I'd buy a ton of them just for parts (especially if they all used XT4 torsos, I can never have enough of them and they're quite pricey compared to the other torso parts on Bricklink). After all, LEGO have proved that they can do extra small sets like this year's Breez polybag, so why not take that and put them into "normal" set production? I think they'd sell pretty well if priced right. Aanchir's Matoran looks quite stubby to me though, but I don't mind that
  4. Funny you should mention Argos - they're normally among the first UK retailers to get in the summer Hero Factory releases from experience (and usually the last to get in Winter releases), but the new catalogue doesn't come out until the 26th July this year... so it might be likely that someone else will beat them to it this year. Only time will tell
  5. You mean they had all the summer 2014 sets out at your Sainsbury's already? If so, that would be great news, I literally live a minute away from a big Sainsbury's. I'll have to go check it at some point Shame they wouldn't let you buy it though, what's the point of putting them out if you can't even buy it?
  6. Well, I was just browsing downloads on the UK Hero Factory microsite (I was actually looking for some pics of the "caustic" background for my latest project), and I was quite surprised to find downloads for some of the summer sets! Tunneler Beast vs Surge Crystal Beast vs Bulk Queen Beast vs Furno, Evo and Stormer (Links should lead directly to the download this time! They should all work too, I've downloaded them no problem, unless they're taken down...) It's just the Beasts for the moment, but this surely means their release is imminent. But for now, I guess you can flick through the build, look longingly at the part inventory on the back process or peruse the comic
  7. Really good stuff, I always really like your large scale models VBBN. Really nice idea to use the cocoon parts as part of the skirt. The only thing that would be better (as you actually say in the original post) would be to add more gold (and trans-blue/azure as well) to the areas lacking in these colours, namely the lower limbs (well, I don't really like the tyres on the legs either but that's just my personal preference, I've never really liked tyres being used on action figures using mostly CCBS anyway, and in this case the skirt does work with them ) This makes my attempts at large scale figures look a little paltry though but this has given me inspiration to go back to my own large-scale monster and mod it some more I look forward to what you come up with next. Excellent stuff!
  8. I gotta say - I really like this revamp! Great you managed to keep the splitting function, to me that's the whole point of a Splitter Beast. Not mad on the use of the tyres on the elbows, they don't really match the rest of the MOC's aesthetics in my opinion, but I guess that's just me being nitpicky You've inspired me to go and mod one of the few sets I haven't actually modded. But you know what? I really like how you added traffic lights to the street lamp and made it a more permanent city structure, a great touch!
  9. Thanks for the nice comments guys! I was just trying to think what the croc figure reminded me of actually when I took that photo in that pose, and that is it! I'll be sure to do the rest of the Speedorz when I eventually get the right shells and appendages. Keep checking back
  10. It doesn't actually have hands, those are just connection points so they can attach to Evo's machine Any suggestion on how you'd actually improve the legs? This was actually originally built as an extension to the Evo XL machine, so it might look a bit odd on it's own. Any suggestion to make the appendages look better while preserving connectivity would be very useful actually. Can't be worse than the set it originally was though as it is
  11. I did hint at this MOC in my Stringer Sonic Machine thread, so I thought it'd be only fair to show my rendition of Nex's machine here too It's actually an extremely heavily modified Evo Walker (a slightly terrible set only really bought for completeness and the jumpers imo) which wasn't really a walker. This MOC is essentially a heavy artillery on legs, with a large plasma cannon and a couple of plasma guns. It's cockpit can move freely, which means Nex can move the cockpit around for an unrivalled view of his surroundings, and the guns all rotate too. The colour scheme is pretty much classic Nex: green, orange and white. It might have some very odd styling and shaping, but there's a reason for it... Here's some pics: Front: LEGO Hero Factory MOC - Nex Walker Turret (1) by TheOneVeyronian, on Flickr Back: LEGO Hero Factory MOC - Nex Walker Turret (2) by TheOneVeyronian, on Flickr Pose: LEGO Hero Factory MOC - Nex Walker Turret (3) by TheOneVeyronian, on Flickr The Walker Turret also has another function: the exposed ball cups on the arms allow Nex's machine to attach to Evo's XL machine to create one extra-powerful XL machine (note my Evo XL machine is also modded, partly becuase I had to borrow the XT4 torsos for something else and never bothered to return them, and partly to allow these two machines to attach. Notice I mod practically every set I buy?): LEGO Hero Factory MOC - Nex Walker Turret and MODded Evo XL Machine (1) by TheOneVeyronian, on Flickr LEGO Hero Factory MOC - Nex Walker Turret and MODded Evo XL Machine (2) by TheOneVeyronian, on Flickr I would have preferred to use 2 trans-black windscreens, but unfortunately they're rare in my country on BrickLink so far and I didn't have enough spare... so 2 trans-blue windscreens it had to be! That's all for now. Hope you liked it!
  12. Yep, I did that mod late last night after deciding I didn't like my Braptor MOC that much. I did a mod to Flyer Beast about 7 months ago (it might not appear through that link yet though, Flickr's having loads of issues at the moment... ), but I couldn't get the wings right then. The bat wings look much better I think. But that's not the focus of thos topic... Thanks very much, glad you like both versions
  13. The top and shoulder shell armour interferes more with the arm poseability than those shoulder armours on the torso do, believe it or not With me, cohesiveness comes first, poseability comes second, and the shoulder armours on the torso hide some very large gaps present in the Mungus-Fangar (Mungus dominant) combo.
  14. Thanks for the comments! I changed around some of the parts, so now you can see what it looks like with orange armour and black hands (yeah I did manage to find some black hands!). Plus, you can see the deadly speaker in action against the atrocity that is my twice-modded Flyer Beast: LEGO Hero Factory MOC - Stringer Sonic Machine (5) by TheOneVeyronian, on Flickr Stringer: "Let's see what this thing can do" Speaker: "Baby, baby, uh-huh..." Flyer Beast: "ARGH! Turn it off! Turn it off!!!" Stringer: "Lucky I have my own headphones on playing death metal, so I can do this safely!" Sorry, I couldn't resist doing that So anyway, which version do you prefer? And as a little bonus, here's an LDD file of the model if you fancy building one yourself. Stringer is decapitated, but that's a known fault in LDD. Stringer Sonic Machine.lxf
  15. This is just a few of the bands I listen to when I build (or doing anything else for that matter): Muse, Kasabian, You Me at Six, 30 Seconds to Mars, Green Day, Biffy Clyro, White Lies, My Chemical Romance, The Prodigy, Kaiser Chiefs etc. Basically anything alternative rock, electronic, punk and soft metal for me. Might explain why my MOC's are so varied I suppose
  16. Probably personal preference. I thought it looked disproportionate with longer limbs. And good point actually - I don't think I paid much attention to the 1.0 Heroes (having only got on board with HF in 2011). I heard orange and blue are supposed to be complementary colours anyway Yep, give me alternative rock and metal any day of the week over teen pop And about the silver hands: I did run out of black ones believe it or not... I might see what it looks like with orange instead of blue, good idea. Good point about the levers actually, the dark grey one does look better looking at it again. And I do agree with all of you that it looks better without the windscreen... it's why the main photos show the mech without it actually
  17. Unfortunately I don't have the set either (and don't plan to either like you, I thought the Ben 10 sets were a joke with their price per piece, something like 80 pence a part!), but interesting idea. The idea with the white was to supplement the white Mungus already had, and work perhaps like a hide (that and I literally only have 8 brown constraction pieces of which 7 are used here). I quite like Mungus' trunk as is though, it gives it more flexibility like a real mammoth trunk Thanks very much - you won't be disappointed, just wait until the 2H Hero Factory sets hit my area in about 3 weeks time...
  18. It's been a very productive day for me today, I've now got a small mecha (my first one actually) to show. I decided that my custom Stringer minifig needed a mech of his own (saw him getting jealous of my custom painted Nex piloting my revamped Evo Walker Turret thing ), so I created this small mech which I call "Stringer Sonic Machine", in keeping with Stringer's typical soundwave and sonic theme. It's equipped with a sonic blaster, a sound blade and an enormous speaker on the back, to which Stringer can pump out the tunes of that one genre of music known to bring down the Beasts... teen pop (I'm joking by the way). Here's some pics (I realise I forgot to change the dark bley lever to a black one, please ignore that): Front: LEGO Hero Factory MOC - Stringer Sonic Machine (1) by TheOneVeyronian, on Flickr Back: LEGO Hero Factory MOC - Stringer Sonic Machine (2) by TheOneVeyronian, on Flickr Pose: LEGO Hero Factory MOC - Stringer Sonic Machine (3) by TheOneVeyronian, on Flickr I couldn't quite work out if this little mech would be better with or without a windscreen: what do you think? LEGO Hero Factory MOC - Stringer Sonic Machine (4) by TheOneVeyronian, on Flickr One thing that irritates me is that I was forced to use orange in this MOC... I wish those seats were blue at the very least to match Stringer's colour scheme But otherwise, that's all for now. Hope you enjoyed looking at this MOC!
  19. It's been a while since I posted my last set MOD, but I got round to photographing another of my MODded sets - CHI Mungus! It's actually a MOD of the Mungus-Fangar (Mungus dominant) combiner, but with many extra MOD's. Hopefully you'll have the time to look at it and appreciate it, what with the news that Bionicle is back and all that Anyway, without further ado, here's some pics: Front (I should point out the exposed red axle is for when you want to pose the figure with the weapon in both hands - maybe I should have used a black one): LEGO Chima - CHI Mungus MOD (1) by TheOneVeyronian, on Flickr Side: LEGO Chima - CHI Mungus MOD (2) by TheOneVeyronian, on Flickr Back: LEGO Chima - CHI Mungus MOD (3) by TheOneVeyronian, on Flickr Pose 1: LEGO Chima - CHI Mungus MOD (4) by TheOneVeyronian, on Flickr Pose 2: LEGO Chima - CHI Mungus MOD (5) by TheOneVeyronian, on Flickr That's all right now. Hopefully I'll be back soon with some more set MODs for you, but for now, hope you enjoyed this one Extra pics available on request.
  20. All the Series 2 Mixels are also practically out of stock in S@H UK too, which leads me to believe that the European warehouse that supplies S@H products has pretty much run dry of Mixels. They sold out extremely quickly there, I'm quite surprised by that. Testament to how popular the Mixels are perhaps?
  21. I was a little bit bored today, so I ended up adapting the new-style Speedorz I had into these, which I'm actually quite pleased with: Which then, with a little help from the power of Chi hands, turn into these little fellows: Note that these wouldn't have been possible with the old-style Speedorz, the old styles have too few connection points to be able to accommodate all the extra appendages securely. And believe it or not, these still function perfectly well as Speedorz, albeit they run a lot slower. I was going to put claws on the feet, but I seem to have convieniently misplaced all my T-pieces, so here the feet are just plain. I really want to try this with the rest of the new Speedorz, but I only have these two at the moment. Hope you like my unique reinvention of the Speedorz!
  22. You and me both, I am missing just two characters from my Chima collection, Sykor is one of them (the other one is Firox, but I have that one pre-ordered from Amazon UK). However, remember that all is not lost for those seeking Sykor, I made a post a few pages ago (for ease of viewing, I've quoted the relevant parts of that post below) where I spotted weapons on the Chima microsite which did not belong to any of the summer wave sets we knew about. I am confident one of the hitherto unrevealed Speedorz sets (70152-70154) will include Sykor from these analyses. Still no info on these Speedorz yet, but I'd say they've got a September or end of year release. And if Sykor isn't the figure in any of these Speedorz sets, then I will have to track down this seemingly hard to get polybag and probably pay over the odds for it... but I guess that's part of the fun of being a minifig collector
  23. That's a good idea, I just need to go and find some more silver torso armours to do just that (but I think this MOC has already used all the ones I had!). It'll also free the shin armours so I can then put them on the back legs. I shall give that a try tomorrow
  24. I remember reading that post during my days as a guest lurker actually, who could forget a quote like that? With that, the only thing that is actually going to worry is my wallet
  25. I second this notion. I don't care whatever new theme or revival does come around (though seeing Bionicle return would be great since it was pretty much an integral part of my childhood, but please don't do another "Stars"), if it has the CCBS system, I will buy every single set involuntarily upon release
