Aussie sales! Share the news of LOCAL sales!

Someone on another forum reported that Big Bang Theory was showing up in the TRU computer system with a September release date, as was Birds and Wall-E (all 3 showing up at RRP with Wall-E being the same price as Birds) Also a report from the same guy that the Kwik-E-Mart is due to hit retail soon. Nothing out there to suggest that any of these sets are specifically exclusive to Toys R Us at this point. -
Lego themes that we would like to happen

Fallout would make an epic theme. Come on, who here would say no to a theme based on the best post-apoc/sci-fi RPG series of all time?- 451 replies

I have always wanted to see LEGO do a flagship range-topping set of a jet fighter. They have done jet fighters (in bright colors and without any weapons) in Creator many times so why not a big detailed technic one with flaps that move, landing gear that goes up and down and other cool stuff. We got the 9394 Jet Plane back in 2012 but that wasn't very big and had basically no features. Fixed-wing aircraft are one sub-genre very much under-represented in Technic (we have some nice helicopters though...) along with boats and all things that go on water.

Something that mixes both Space AND Castle? Sign me up please :)

The more recent Arkham definatly qualified as a d2c, its set number is out of sync with any other super heroes sets (which is usual for d2c sets) and its got more than enough parts to qualify as a d2c set. And yes a Daily Planet set (maybe built as a modular) would be epic to see (heck anything that doesn't include Batman would be great)

Just ordered this from Shop @ Home, cant wait for it to arrive, such a huge fan of the show (close to the best live-action sitcom currently on TV). And its been said before but I recon TLG should give the Big Bang Theory producers some copies of this set and see if they want to work it into the show somehow, it would be very funny :)

Advanced Models 10248 Ferrari F40: Discussion Topic
jonwil replied to XAxles's topic in LEGO Licensed
The next car we see may be the Ideas Corvette if LEGO gives it the green light... As for what LEGO should do next in the series, I would love to see a Lamborghini since I never got the yellow Gallardo. Something like the Aventador would work well with all the new parts that TLG has to play with now compared to the original Lambo sets (maybe in the orange color Lambo is so well known for) -
Looks nice although I dont know how accurate it is since I have been trying to avoid most of the news about the new Ghostbusters film so that I dont get disappointed that all the cool stuff about the first 2 films is no longer there and when it comes out I can go and see it and treat it as just a film and not a sequel to one of the best (and funniest) pair of films of all time :)

I own a http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItem.asp?P=87513c01, a http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItem.asp?P=64227, and a http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItem.asp?P=58123c01 and I am thinking of buying a http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItem.asp?S=8883-1 from Shop @ Home. Do I need any other power functions parts to make use of these? Do I need the technic style battery box or remote control? Is the M motor the best size or would I be better off buying a different size instead? I would be using it in train MOCs (e.g. steam trains ala Emerald Night) or present day type MOCs (ala the Fairground Mixer) and not Technic stuff.

I might pick up the Ant Man set alongside my Big Bang Theory set to help hit the $200 free shipping threshold... I am sure there will be other things worth picking up as well :) -

FYI, if anyone is wanting the Ant Man set, brickingaround.com found out (from LEGO) that it will NOT be hitting local retail (which is final confirmation of what we already knew). If you want one, shop @ home is the best place to get one (I might pick one up alongside my Big Bang Theory as part of the stuff I buy to hit the free shipping threshold) -
LEGO Collectable Minifigures Series 14 Rumors and Discussion
jonwil replied to Robert8's topic in Special LEGO Themes
The fly guy looks cool and interesting as does the scientist, plant guy and skeleton guy. The gargoyle might have possibilities in the right setting too. Liking the guitar and the printed "brains" tile too. Best of the lot for me is the fly guy. -

Who has the cheapest deal right now on the 60060 Auto Transporter or the 60081 Pickup Tow Truck? -
Too bad the "use Amazon" isn't an option for us Aussies since Amazon won't ship these sets to Australia :(

These look nice, the UCS is cool (and its always good to have more varieties of semi-auto pistol to play with), the peacemaker is even more useful for wild west MOCs and such than the current revolvers they have (m1851, m1917 and .44 Magnum) and the caplock musket will be perfect for anyone doing MOCs in the right time period (Civil War MOCers in particular will probably love it)

The official LEGO instructions site at http://service.lego.com/en-gb/buildinginstructions lists the Great Vehicles sets and has PDFs of them so the Bricklink thing must just be a glitch in the Brickset system (or something wrong with the data Brickset uses to identify instructions in the TLG database)

For those in QLD, Helensvale has the Tie, Ewok and Changing Seasons. No tumblers though. Don't remember if there were any Ghosts or not. -
I for one would love to see a set that is as detailed and cool as the Emerald Night but based off more of a US prototype like a 4-6-0. The Constitution Train Chase is ok but the locomotive is not as good as it could have been due to the need to keep the price point low whilst including all the other stuff the set needed to have. (it doesn't even have connecting rods and the cylinders aren't particularly detailed)

I Haven't seen the Hulkbuster set in any stores either but if I see one, I will let people know. The Hulk Lab Smash set from 2014 is long gone. -
I could see the Corvette potentially fitting into the "larger car models" category and being green-lit for that reason although it depends on whether GM is willing to do a suitable deal. There is also the potential issue where the Corvette isn't so well known outside of America whereas the VW Beetle, VW Bus, Ferraris, Lamborghinis and Mini are all fairly well known/recognizable (at least the general model and shape if not the superfine detail) on both sides of the pond. There is a really nice Ideas item that is basically the same as the many-in-one Hobby Train set from a while back except its for steam locomotives. That would be a perfect set for Ideas if it got to 10k. They dont have any current AFOL-targeted train set short of some remnant stock of the Horizon Express hanging around somewhere. As far as I know the AFOL-targeted trains they have done (Horizon Express, Emerald Night, Maresk Train and going back things like the Santa Fe) have sold fairly well. And the Ideas project could easily be done at a price point around US$110-$120 or so if they have the right mix of parts which puts it a fair bit below the price point for the modulars and is more like the price points LEGO uses for the most expensive regular retail sets in themes like City (Spaceport, Divers boat), Friends (hotel) and others. IMO It would be popular with anyone who likes steam locomotives because it would have so many different styles buildable in the one box.

I think the natural history museum is a counter argument to your claim that a modular Ideas set would be made. Or do you have thoughts as to why the museum not getting made doesn't translate into modular sets being off-limits for Ideas? Was the museum too big even for a modular? Conflicting with other products? (isn't there a museum of some sort in the Scooby Doo line?) Wrong color scheme/subject matter/etc to work? Something else?

I would have more buildings in the City line. Buildings that aren't fire stations, places for fire fighters to go and fight fire, police stations, bad guy hideouts or half-finished buildings being built (or destroyed) by construction vehicles. How about another gas station (we haven't had a proper one of those since 7993 in 2007 unless you count the pathetic pumps in 4207). Or another house (8403 was a great set and a breath of fresh air compared to the usual City fare). Or more retail shops (Juniors and Friends both get supermarkets this year, why cant City have one?) Or how about a post office or a bank? (we are well overdue for both of these) I would also end the practice of having retailer exclusive sets and make all sets (including the big exclusives like the Tumbler, UCS Star Wars, modulars, Hellicarrier, Simpsons etc) available to any retailer that wants to stock them. Something else I would do is to look at sites like Bricklink and elsewhere and see what part-color combinations (that either dont exist or used to exist but aren't being made anymore) are in high demand. I would also survey AFOLs and fans to find out what part/color combos they most want to see. Then I would take this information, remove any parts from the lists that can't be made for whatever reason (e.g. because they are a "licensed part", because they use a mold that has been discontinued, because they use a color that has been discontinued or whatever) and I would direct the designers to see if they can find ways to incorporate those part-color combinations into new sets.

I for one would pay more to not have stickers on big sets that are targeting AFOLs or are otherwise "premium" sets. Would have been better if The Big Bang Theory had a printed door and column piece instead of the stickers it would have been better and I would have been happy to pay extra (although in that case it may be that they dont have the ability to print on those particular elements). At least the usual rule is that Ideas sets and modulars get printing and not stickers (the only exception with the modulars is the film posters in the Palace Cinema which needed to be stickers). I wish more big exclusive AFOL targeted sets had printing and not stickers...

Managed to get to no less than 4 Big W stores today (Beenleigh, Loganholme, Garden City, Underwood) and no sign of any Mountain Huts, Changing Seasons, Cargo Trains, Simpsons Houses, Helicarriers or big Star Wars stuff. I do remember seeing a Sea Cow somewhere though (I think it might have been the Toys R Us at Garden City although I could be wrong) I did see some of the Creator Monkey sets and various TLM sets (including the Double Decker Couch and the little Batman one). No city road plates or green baseplates spotted at any of the Big W stores although I did see a few grey and tan baseplates out there (not that I need more baseplates at this point, I got more than enough :) Ended up with the Friends baby bunny set. Decided that if I didn't think the Blue Power Jet was good value in the Big W sale at $55, it clearly wasn't going to be better value at $60 and gave it a miss. (it does have a few nice parts in it but also a lot of stuff that's useless to me). Also decided (after looking at it a bit in another retailer) the Changing Seasons doesn't do it for me either, not enough in it I need. I may end up grabbing any interesting parts from Bricks & Pieces when I order from Shop @ Home to get my Big Bang Theory (I just wish it was easier to browse B&P :( ) Also ended up with yet more plastic storage to help me organize my collection (and make it easier to find things without spending 1/2 hour or more looking through a big box of unrelated stuff) -
Yes the stickers are custom-made by me. No I dont have any video of the event. And yes, the cab was specially made for Australia and for the unique Pilbera conditions.
