Big W Robina has the Heavy Haul train, Creator Treehouse and Bike Shop & Cafe. There are also cards in the LEGO section for the Sea Cow, Death Star, Sandcrawler, B-Wing, Simpsons House and Volvo Excavator. The B-Wing card said "sold out" I think but all the others didn't say that so they probably have stock in the back somewhere for those. A few Jurassic World sets at Big W as well (cant remember which ones) K-Mart Robina has the new green & white Creator 4x4 as well as some of the Jurassic World sets. Nothing worth caring about at David Jones, Target or MYER (MYER is probably keeping all the stock in the back until closer to the sale) -

Midway Games owns the rights to Mortal Kombat. But also potentially (depending on exactly where the rights went via various mergers and splits) the rights to Defender, Gauntlet, Gorf, Joust, Smash TV, Tapper, Robotron, NARC and others. That said, Moral Kombat is WAY too violent for LEGO (it was the first game in the series that was one of the games that lead to the creation of the video game ratings system in the USA and the most recent games in the series are all rated "M" by the ESRB) so I wouldn't expect to see it in Dimensions.- 527 replies

Yeah it is, its a Big W exclusive and they will have it for 10% off RRP. -
I like this, definitely want one.

I love the idea of the maze, it looks like it would be fun to build and even more fun to play with.

I am liking what I see so far. The torsos on Howard, Raj and Leonard look generic enough to be useful. Howards legs are great too (with the printed belt). The hair on Howard, Raj and Penny is nice, as does the blue statue and green lantern battery . As for the comments about the hair on Leonard, the hair deskp suggested is very easy to get in that color so its easy to switch it over if you want :) Can't wait to see the whole set.

I think the failure of Tommorowland has made Disney wary of any live action Sci-Fi/Action type films that aren't tied to either the Marvel or Star Wars universes. Live action Fantasy/Fairy Tale stuff (like Cinderella) seems to work well for them so they will probably keep making more of that though.

Big W Helicarrier is confirmed, brickingaround.com has details (via a leak) of the Big W toy sale (Big W price is only 5% off RRP though). Big W also gets the exclusive on the City Heavy Haul Train, Friends Pop Star Limo and NinjaGo Cycle Ambush. The big brown box (Star Wars Sandcrawler) makes a comeback at 12% off RRP. The dark blue creator jet fighter is also in the catalog at 24% off RRP. Finally picked up my Simpsons S2 from Toys R Us Garden City today thanks to the 4-for-$15 deal although I ended up with a Dr Hibbert instead of the Homer I was trying to get (although looking at it, I think I can do something with the Dr Hibbert torso/legs so its not a big loss and I can always pick up a Homer later if I decide I really need one). Plenty of stock of minifigures left if anyone wants some. Good stock levels of everything else too including the Ecto-1. Oh and for those who collect the Architecture line, they had the new-for-2015 Flatiron Building set in stock (along with the Lincoln Memorial and various others). Nothing at all worth caring about at David Jones Garden City. No Fairground Mixers at all that I could see. Nothing at all worth caring about at Target, K-Mart or Big W either. No LEGO in the Drop Zone at Big W Garden City. Only thing of any note at MYER was a couple of Opera Houses. We know Big W has the Helicarrier, MYER has the DO and Slave and DJs will be getting the Ferris Wheel later in the year. We dont know who will get the UCS TIE Fighter yet (and being a Star Wars UCS set you can be sure someone will be stocking it unlike the Tumbler where there are rumors it isn't comming to Australia because no retailers were interested) Finally picked up my Simpsons S2 from Toys R Us Garden City today thanks to the 4-for-$15 deal although I ended up with a Dr Hibbert instead of the Homer I was trying to get (although looking at it, I think I can do something with the Dr Hibbert torso/legs so its not a big loss and I can always pick up a Homer later if I decide I really need one). Is it possible to power this conveyor belt part http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItem.asp?P=92715c01 with a motor? I cant seem to get my motors (I have various kind of 9v motor) to actually make the conveyor belt move, not sure if the conveyor has too much friction to make it move or if I need to have more gearing down (decrease speed and increase torque) to make it move. Anyone ever gotten it to move and if so what motor and gears did you use?

I think the disappointing returns of Tommorowland combined with the fact that whilst Tron Legacy did make a fair chunk of money, it wasn't a massive blockbuster earning Disney the big bucks in the way, say, Frozen or Avengers 2 or Cinderella is was enough to cause Disney to not proceed with the project at this point. If Tron Legacy had made more money, it would have been enough for Disney to proceed with the third film even with the failure of Tommorowland. Although in saying that (and having seen all the trailers and previews and crap) I think the reason Tommorowland has failed is because Tommorowland is a crap film, not because people dont like that sort of film anymore or whatever. I certainly have no desire to go see Tommorowland but would have gone to see anything Disney does in the TRON universe no matter what.

David Jones has 20% off in their stocktake sale so if there is anything you want at your local David Jones store, now is the time to get it (Fairground Mixer especially since that is exclusive to DJs at this point) DJs Brisbane CBD has some Opera Houses and Simpsons Houses on a stand near the toy section (but not actually in the toy section). Also have some Fairground Mixers on the LEGO shelf. Nothing else that stood out to me as interesting. Can't remember seeing any Simpsons minifigs but I wasn't looking for them. MYER Brisbane CBD has a pile of stock ready for their sale including LEGO Movie, Marvel, City, Trains and more. All the big stuff is still being held back for the sale though (as in, it wasn't visible on the shelves). -
Not a fan of German cars in general so I wouldn't buy any Audis or Mercs or BMWs (the possible exceptions to that would be the BMW M1 or any of the gull-wing-door Mercs But all the other ideas on your list sound epic. If they do a Lamborghini, I hope its a spyder in yellow or orange, convertible lambos are cool :) Jag and Aston have cars worthy of this theme too I recon,

Pitty this has been axed, I thought Legacy was awesome and would definatly have gone to see this one. But I suspect Disney has decided that there are other films they could make instead that would make even more money than a 3rd TRON film (all of which will likely suck but still earn big $$$ for reasons no-one can ever understand)

The rumors suggest the Ferris Wheel is comming to David Jones later in the year. -
Good to see the Marble Maze getting made, its an interesting product and totally different to anything LEGO has ever made before. The Star Citizen project getting further review likely means that they are A,Still working on license details to see if they can come to a deal, B.Still working on brand fit (i.e. is the "Star Citizen" IP suitable for LEGO or not) or C.Still working to see if the market is big enough for the project (its based on a video game and not exactly a massive seller at that) If the Marble Maze is good, I am definatly interested in it. Same with the Star Citizen project if it gets made. Although I do still need to save the pennies for the yet-to-be-revealed Big Bang Theory and Dr Who sets. Oh and if LEGO really wont make big sets, they should impose size guidelines so that we dont see more modulars get to 10k only to be rejected. (or a set getting to 10k and being rejected when it would have had a greater chance if it wasn't so big) As for the items up for review in the next batch, I can see most of them being fairly easy to reject right off the bat. Golden Girls isn't a good fit for LEGO (it wont sell to LEGO's core audience, most of whom dont know what the Golden Girls is). ISS would be cool but it would be difficult to build something that would hold up under the weight. (the 7467 is at a much smaller scale than the Ideas set). Frozen they have already done. T-Rex likely conflicts with their plans for JW and the JW license (and its too big in any case). Daft Punk is hard to turn into a set and its not the right audience either (as with Golden Girls). Discworld is also not that well known by the target audience. Medieval Market is too big. Small yellow is probably still too big and its too difficult to do (pieces spilling out of the chest, how do you do that in instructions for kids to build). Zelda has been discussed many times. Titanic is too big. The DC-3 as an airplane may not be the most well known but it DOES appear a fair bit in TV and movies (so kids would recognize it by the shape and look even if they dont know what its called). Plus licensing is much easier (based on the number of model kits out there it may not even be necessary to secure a license from Boeing). And it doesn't look to be so big as to be too big for an Ideas set. The main problem for the Corvette will be whether they can get a license from GM. Its well known in TV and movies and probably one of the most recognizable cars made by any US manufacturer. Plus they have the inbuilt ability to sell this to car buffs of all sorts. Although it may not fit in with their plans re Speed Champions and other licensed car products and the size may well be just a bit more than LEGO is willing to go with. And Science Adventures has the greatest chance of being green lit of the lot. The RI sold like hotcakes (they could have doubled the production and still sold every one they made without satisfying the demand), the size is right and it has the potential for interesting parts (just like the RI had the printed star chart),

I can see why LEGO passed over the natural history museum. The Detective's Office is $160 in the US. I suspect this would have (because of its size/piece count, because its an Ideas set etc) cost at least $180, quite possibly over $200. Also it would have required finding a lot of production capacity very fast to make all those parts (remember, Ideas products have an accelerated time-frame from completed design to availability on shelves). And they already have another modular for 2016 in the works no doubt so adding this into the rotation means they split the market for modulars across even more sets (modulars do sell but not everyone can afford to buy all of them) . I suspect because of production things and because of the in-built lower sales of Ideas sets (not as easy to get as other sets, smaller production runs) we wont see an Ideas set north of $100US anytime soon.

Ok, so its not that much cheaper than the 20% off I got it for last Friday at the 20% off sale. Short of some super bargain on the Kwik-E-Mart, the Parisian, the Mini or the JW set with the big white T-Rex (or LEGO departing from last year and making the new City Square or City Space stuff available during the mid-year sales), I will have no reason to visit the mid-year sales this year (I still have to get my Simpsons Series 2 figs but with reports of a Toys R Us sale starting Wednesday that will have 4 figs for $15, I will pick them up from there, just happens that 4 is how many I actually want :) -
I hope this line has been successful enough to get a second wave, there are so many possibilities here. I bought the P1 and its great and I would buy any Lamborghini set they made in a heartbeat. Just as long as its not more Ferrari or Porsche stuff, I will probably be happy :)

There is no fixed time frame for LEGO to release review results. Its up to whenever LEGO have finished reviewing items and have something to announce. Of the items currently "in review" the only ones I would consider buying would be Science Adventures, ISS, Natural History Museum (although that one has a little more tan and dark tan than I would like), Minas Tirith, the DC-3 and the piano.

Finally got myself one of these the other day. Great set and great parts pack, definatly the best set of 2015 so far (only things I know of that might top this would be Ideas sets)

If anyone is looking for the LEGO City Water Plane Chase, Toyworld seems to have the exclusive at this point. No clue who has (or will have) the exclusive on the Hovercraft Arrest (or whether other stores will get the Water Plane Chase at some point in the future) though -

Lots of reports that MYER are holding the stock of the big sets back until their big mid-year toy catalog sale. So glad I was able to do a Click & Collect order for mine yesterday (even if it did require going all the way to Chermside, printing out an order-placed email on one of those internet kiosks and spending a few hours there waiting for the order to be ready) Means I now have the parts I need to complete my Italian Pizzeria in time for the Strathpine Brisbricks show.
