  2. This piece: http://alpha.bricklink.com/pages/clone/catalogitem.page?P=71182#T=C
  3. Nope although the DeLorean DID crash to the floor during setup of the show with bits flying everywhere :) Thankfully I was able to find all the parts and re-assemble it :)
  4. Other things to take note of in the photos of the layout at the 2 shows: A fishing boat complete with seagulls trying to score a free meal A big bucket wheel excavator at the mining site A train bridge made using the beams from the LEGO 7900 Heavy Loader (I doubt our group is the only one who has thought to use those beam pieces to build a bridge like that) X-Files characters (from an Ideas submission I believe) chasing after the CMF grey aliens A Hippie worshiping a burning tree Santa Claus riding a skateboard The Pied Piper leading some rats Bunny Rabbits in the Lettuce A Scotsman playing the Great Highland Bagpipes (I have Scottish ancestry somewhere and I also really like Scottish songs and Bagpipe music) My Italian Wood-fired Pizza Shop and Gelateria (complete with pizza delivery guy on a scooter) My Volvo B12BLEA articulated bus (all of the stickers on it are accurate for the bus in question including the destination signage, bus numbers, Volvo logo and number plates. I even found the correct font for the number plates on the state official "make your own personalized number plate" website) Newspaper guy pushing newspapers to commuters (until recently there was a free afternoon newspaper in my city called Mx and people used to stand on street corners in the CBD and try to get passing travelers to pick up a copy) Guy wearing a Green Lantern shirt Guy trying to board the bus wearing board shorts and carrying a surfboard Postie on a bike collecting the mail from the mail box with a lady rushing to get her letter into the box so it can go out Workers in high-vis gear working in and around the steel mill Collection of products made by the steel mill sitting ready to be picked up and shipped out Big rig truck being loaded up with product ready to ship out Security guy checking people entering the mill to make sure they are allowed to enter Black Holden SS Ute (Aussie version of a Pickup Truck) exiting the steel mill Someone photographing the steel mill (and hoping the cops don't come after him for photographing a "sensitive site" as seems to be happening more and more these days with innocent people taking photos of transport infrastructure, industrial buildings, power plants, government buildings, bridges etc) LED lighting strips inside the Grand Emporium, Fire Brigade and Town Hall Haunted House being targeted by the wrecking ball Platform 9&3/4 with Harry going through the wall and the Double Decker Couch. Marching band and various Star Wars characters on parade Krusty Krab Singers on stage Sponge Bob Square Pants monorail, rocking pirate ship and Ferris Wheel Emperor Zurg spinning chair ride Bumper Cars ride Frozen castle train ride Drop Tower ride (with crocodile at the bottom) Reverse Free fall ride Windmill water pump Freight Yard Scout camp being attacked by a T-Rex Excellent use of the army helmets as turtle shells (at least I think that's what they are supposed to be, I didn't do that bit) Cricket Player with bat and ball (the bat is a BrickArms cricket bat) Guy comming out of the pizza shop who has just fallen over and is being helped by a passing nurse Saxophonist playing some tunes Various cars including Friends and Spider-Man parked in the car park Unikitty on a bouncy castle Lava monster inside the Jurassic Park area Dinosaur eating one of the Star Wars guys Hills Hoist (outdoor thing for hanging washing on for those who dont know) complete with motor to make it spin
  5. Last weekend the BrisBricks LEGO group put on a train display at the Gold Coast train show. One of the things I contributed to the layout was a re-creation of the train hijack scene from Back to the Future III Complete with DeLorean ready to be pushed along the track, camera crews filming the action and ABC Australia TV News doing a story on the filming (and interviewing one of the people involved with the film) I re-created most of the train from the movie including the red caboose (I would have used log bricks or 1 x 2 vertical grille bricks but I don't own anywhere near enough of either part in red to pull it off) A passenger wagon (loosely based on the My Own Train passenger wagon but modified to be more like the ones from the movie) The log car And of course the 4-6-0 steam locomotive and tender (the locomotive started out as an all-black version of the one from the Lone Ranger train set but then was heavily modified using ideas from the Emerald Night and various LEGO steam locomotive designs I found through Google) At this point in the filming Doc is pointing a BrickArms revolver at the train driver and demanding he stop the train for a "science experiment" Here is an overview of the entire train This build came about because we had some empty space on the train layout (the guy who did the stuff that goes in that space was unable to be there for this particular show). The club guys said "lets fill it with a train yard and stash trains there (which is what you can see in the background). I then remembered a previous MOC I built for a previous show many years ago vaguely copied from the tanker truck scene in one of the James Bond films and decided that I could contribute a film set to help fill the empty space. I also had some tan baseplates (not all of the ones in the pictures are mine, some belong to the club) and some dark tan bushes that I wasn't sure how to use and thought of the BTTF scene as something I could do to get some use out of them. The ability to use at least one of my recently-acquired BrickArms items (the revolver) was a plus :) I still have the locomotive and cars built and intend to take close up photos and document them all in LDD.
  6. Here are some photos I took of the BrisBricks train layout at the Strathpine LEGO show and the Gold Coast train show: A firefighting helicopter reloading with water at a lake Ned Kelly and some troopers ABC Australia TV news truck The story is that the TV news crew is there to interview a politician making a stop at the steel mill to talk about how important the mill is and talking to a worker about the mill and why the government needs to do more (something you see on the ABC in Australia a fair bit, especially around election time) Police pulling over Doc and Marty in the DeLorean (presumably for going faster than the speed limit given that there is no way driving at 88mph would be legal in any built up area anywhere in Australia) General Electric Dash-8 diesel locomotive in BHP colors My replica of the train hijack scene in Back To The Future III complete with film crews and DeLorean Famous rock star being pulled over by a motorbike cop for talking on his mobile phone wile driving Full view of my BHP Steel Mill with Blast Furnace (notice Hulk climbing up the side and Iron Man flying overhead), factory building for making steel products and control room (the white building) Full albums for both shows can be seen here https://picasaweb.google.com/jfwfreo/Strathpine https://picasaweb.google.com/jfwfreo/GoldCoast
  7. Here is a close up picture of my General Electric Dash-8 Diesel locomotive in BHP Iron Ore colors with the unique "Pilbera Cab" (used out there to keep glare from the faces of the train drivers) Here is another photo taken from further away that shows a better view of the front of the train (including the BHP sticker on the front) as well as the matching hopper car I built (with more BHP logos) The other 2 hopper cars are just the stock LEGO blue hopper car. There are also BHP stickers on the other side of the train matching the door sticker and the 2 on the side panel although I dont have a usable photo of those. Its based on the locomotive from the 60052 Cargo Train and then modified to look somewhat like the Dash-8 following pictures I found on the internet. I am planning to take some more pictures of the loco (although without the BHP stickers since I have now removed them and done my best to clean up the sticker gunk without remembering that I wanted to take more photos) and also re-create it in LDD. I will be posting the ldd file here if anyone is interested and I can also post the custom stickers I did. For those who don't know, BHP was the largest mining company in Australia and mined a lot of iron ore in the north of Western Australia (the Pilbera region) and disappeared when they merged with UK company Billiton to become BHP Billiton. If you want more photos of the train layout in general (including the steel mill that the BHP train was built to go with) visit https://picasaweb.google.com/jfwfreo/GoldCoast https://picasaweb.google.com/jfwfreo/Strathpine
  8. How about "Taco Suit Guy", that would be awesome.
  9. 10. Many years ago I used to use "Track Designer" but I have no idea if that is still out there or whether there is now something I can use instead that is better. Can anyone tell me what the best track layout software currently available is?
  11. Got some working Target store links from another forum: http://www.target.com.au/p/lego-dc-comic-super-heroes-the-tumbler-76-23/57821450 http://www.target.com.au/p/lego-reg-creator-3-in-1-changing-seasons-31-38/57822525 http://www.target.com.au/p/lego-star-wars-tie-fighter-75-95/57822129 (currently showing as sold out but you might get lucky) Also, Big W will be having 20% off the price of ALL toys from the 20th to the 26th July. Thats 20% off whatever the shelf tag says. And it includes any toys that may be in the Big W Drop Zone...
  12. I suspect LEGO will never approve an Ideas LOTR/Hobbit project. Mostly because LOTR/Hobbit wasn't exactly a runaway success (especially not the latter run of LOTR with the pirate ship/black gate, the hobbit Pt 3 stuff and the big black tower) and because all the movies are no longer out there meaning any LOTR/Hobbit project has even less market now than they did back then. I think LEGO should examine some of these IPs (like LOTR or Star Wars or Super Heroes or Disney) and if they know (because of license conditions or whatever) that an Ideas project is unlikely to happen, come out and say it. Some guidelines on project size would also help. A few bits of information for project creators could mean projects that wont get made (because of licenses or because of size) are less likely to be submitted to Ideas (which increases the chances of the projects that DO have a chance of becoming sets getting to 10k) It may also lead to project creators changing their projects (e.g. submitting something smaller and therefore more likely to be made into a set). I see many many projects on there that are just far too big to ever be a viable Ideas set (including a few that are "in review" right now) and if LEGO could get most of those off the site before they even start getting supporters, it will be much easier for people deciding what to support to pick things that are actually likely to get made into sets. LOTR alone has at least 50 projects on there that are far too big to be viable even ignoring any possible license stuff.
  13. If only there was a Costco in QLD that didn't require a 2 hour train/bus trip from my house just to get there... I hope they build another one sooner rather than later (one near Logan Hyperdome would be perfect I recon :)
  14. Per what I posted a few posts ago, the information I have is that the Ant Man is not going to come to local retail.
  15. I see no reason LEGO can't use the screwdriver in the Ideas set. The rules for Ideas are that they wont produce a new mold specifically for an Ideas project. Nothing in the rules says they can't make a new mold for another purpose (e.g. a Dimensions set) and use it in the Ideas set.
  16. David Jones at Robina has Simpsons House, Mini and VW Bus. K-Mart at Robina has the Anakin's Custom Jedi Starfighter (which I believe is a K-Mart exclusive) MYER at Robina has a single Brainiac Attack set (which is a MYER exclusive) Also, the mob selling the bootleg crappy rip-off minifigs and sets was back. Given that these guys are violating the rights of both LEGO (in the design of the minifigs, parts etc) and of the various IP holders for the things they are ripping off (DC Super Heroes, Marvel Super Heroes, Ninja Turtles, Simpsons etc etc) I am surprised they are allowed to peddle their wares in a major shopping centre like Robina. Should find out if there is some way to report these scumbags and get them shut down.
  17. The hoses used for the DNA in the original submission ARE still in production but only in black with black ends and yellow with black ends. I suspect they probably just didn't have the resources in the set to be able to do the hoses in that color. Same with the action figures, they probably didn't have the resources to use the board game figs like the original Ideas project so they went with the trophy statues (I believe they are just unprinted versions of colors already being made for the Helicarrier set but I might be wrong)
  18. I just hope the actual Dr Who Ideas set is good and they don't gimp the Ideas set in order to push people to buy the Dimensions stuff instead.
  19. Looks like the Ant Man set is unlikely to be released in Oz based on information I have heard. Probably because there is no way they can get the new fixed sets (with the extra pieces to strengthen the legs) out to Australia before the movie hits.
  20. Someone on another forum posted some info from a leaked Target catalog that didn't have any actual item prices but specifically called out "City" and "Star Wars" at 20% off. Specific mentions in the catalog for the Tie, Tumbler, Ewok Village, Changing Seasons, Adventure Vehicle, Creator Parrot and some of the Speed Champions. Given that they specifically call out "City" and "Star Wars" in this catalog as 20% off, maybe they have stopped doing a blanket 20% off all LEGO and are only doing it on themes they need to move stock of the most.
  21. MYER Loganholme has some road baseplates and train track in stock as well as all the new Creator sets. Plus a pair of the big Opera Houses if 20% off is enough to get you to buy.
  22. Yeah I need a 4-6-0 not a 2-6-0 :) I have some good ideas though now :)
  23. Thanks for all the information guys, I think I should be able to come up with what I want now (a 4-6-0 patterned after the one in Back To The Future 3)
  24. Also and more to the point though, I wouldn't be able to get the parts in question in time for when I need them :)
  25. Those require non-LEGO pieces. I want to keep this particular project purist :)
