  1. Maybe LEGO could make the next modular in an art deco style, that would be really cool and not something I think LEGO have done before AFAIK.
  2. Its possible Sony (who own Ghostbusters) pushed them to release it later for marketing reasons tied to the new film...
  3. If the rumors are true and we are getting a bank, a grand banking building along the lines of say 55 Wall Street (aka the National City Bank Building) https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/55_Wall_Street or the First National Bank of the United states https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/First_Bank_of_the_United_States would be awesome to see. Modulars tend towards older architectural styles anyway so something in that kind of style (which is quite often associated with big banks) would work well. And a corner modular with classical style columns would be a great source of the grooved column bricks :)
  4. Sonic would be awesome, I would totally buy that.
  5. Oh and to whoever suggested Looney Tunes in LEGO, I say "Shut up and take my money". Too bad the "man of a thousand voices" is dead and wouldn't be able to provide voice talent for the game (I dont think there is a voice actor on the planet who can do the Looney Tunes as well as Mel did em)
  6. For anyone looking to price match on things, David Jones is probably a good place to try and get a price match (assuming DJs has the set you want) since they seem to have some of the most liberal price matching policies out there. (they will even price match online-only prices of stores that have physical retail outlets (so next time Target or someone has an online-only sale on something you happen to want you can try and get DJs to price match it, good if you also have something like an Entertainment Card and can get a further discount on David Jones gift vouchers) K-Mart also have really good price match policies from what I have observed.
  7. http://brickingaround.com/2015/09/29/lego-dimensions-instruction-pdfs/ has links to instructions for all the builds across all the currently-released packs. Someone should go through all the instructions and their inventory pages and make a list of every part that is exclusive to Dimensions at this point (as opposed to parts we have already seen). I know for the BTTF pack (the only one I have any real interest in from the first wave) the new parts are the 1 x 2 plate with wheel holder (which also appears in other Dimensions sets), the red guitar (which is exclusive to the dimensions pack in its unprinted state but exists with printing in the Series 14 Frankenstein rocker guy), the hoverboard and the round game base pieces. The minifig itself is exactly the same as in the Ideas set. I also checked the Benny Fun Pack and the new parts in that are the 1 x 1 tile with tooth in blue and the round game base pieces. The minifig itself is the same as in the Sea Cow and Spaceship Spaceship SPACESHIP! Maybe someone else can do the same audit for the other Dimensions packs so people thinking about buying them for parts rather than for the game will know which ones contain what new parts and therefore which ones are worth buying. For example anyone who already has Benny and a reasonable collection of other parts might find it better to just build the spaceship models from their existing collection (and substituting the 1 x 1 with tooth in a different color, buying one from the secondary market or waiting for LEGO to put it in another set) rather than spending the money to buy the Dimensions pack.
  8. If anyone wants the new TIE Fighter, its available at Big W for $59 although you need a rewards card to get that price.
  9. I hope they use the masonry profile bricks for this, they would fit perfectly (and be better than normal bricks or plates)
  10. Right now David Jones has 20% off everything except Star Wars and Creator Expert (although apparently people have somehow managed to get 20% off the Winter Village Market even though it says "Creator Expert" on the box...) Good opportunity to pick up Scooby Doo or the new Technic (for example)
  11. Adding to this post, I came up with a new way to do a smaller sized upright-held drum. Take one of the new-for-2015 2 x 2 round brick with pinholes on the side (http://alpha.bricklink.com/pages/clone/catalogitem.page?P=17485#T=C on bricklink) and put a 2 x 2 round plate on the top. Then stick the stud ends of a piece of string with studs on the end into the pin holes. Then wrap the string around the neck of the minifig and use the head to hold the string in place. Doesn't look too bad when combined with a pair of Brickforge drumsticks. And the size of the 2 x 2 round brick looks ok because many pipe band drummers of this sort have drums that are quite tall relative to the diameter of the drum. (i.e. the proportions of the diameter vs height of the LEGO design match the real thing)
  12. I hope it does come with the Ghostbusters characters (in new versions with arm printing, different faces and any better more appropriate hair) but without the Ecto-1 (since I already own one). I hope it comes with at least one ghost (the lack of a ghost in the Ecto-1 was the biggest disappointment with the set IMO)
  13. I suspect the reason its been so long between the announcement of this set and the reveal is that LEGO have had to go through many revisions of the design to come up with something the BBC is happy with. Whereas something like the Ecto-1 or Wall-E was much closer to an actual releasable design.
  14. This falls squarely in "shut up and take my money" territory as does any other Ghostbusters set. The exception would be the Dimensions packs (if Mr Staypuft comes out in a set, I dont need the Staypuft Dimensions pack, if Slimer comes in a set, I dont need the Slimer dimensions pack and I have the Ecto-1 so I am not yet convinced I need the GB level pack since the only new parts are new hair and new arm printing neither of which is worth the asking price for a Dimensions level pack especially if the arms or hair appear in a set)
  15. The 20% off applies for today (Friday) and tomorrow (Saturday) only and applies to all Big W stores. Oh and if there is something in the Drop Zone at your local Big W, you can probably get 20% off on top of the Drop Zone pricing. Managed to pick up the 60097 City Square and the 60086 City Starter Set for a total of $186.40 from Big W at Brookside (not bad when the RRP for that pair would be $289.98). Depending on the store you might be able to pick up the Scooby Doo sets, Kwik-E-Mart, Star Wars Force Awakens and new Technic sets (some people are reporting finding those items, others are reporting their store doesn't have the stock yet) In any case if you have any way to get to a Big W store today or tomorrow, DO IT, you will get LEGO at prices below even the best deals normally seen (e.g. buy-2-get-1-free at MYER)
  16. I saw them today somewhere (cant remember exactly where, possibly MYER or DJs Brisbane CBD)
  17. Spotted Scooby and the new Technic stuff (blue crane, airplane, Mercedes truck) at DJs Brisbane CBD today.
  18. I would love to see more dark blue in sets, its a great color.
  19. I would be very surprised if the Caterham Super 7 gets green-lit at all. Its a car most people probably haven't heard of (heck, its a car a lot of car enthusiasts may not have heard of) and its fairly large (in scale and price point) I think the Corvette has a much greater chance of being green-lit, its much more well known and it could probably be done at a better price point than the Caterham.
  20. I am hoping the Stay Puft gets made, I would definatly buy one if they made it into a set (and I think they can scale it down a bit to make it viable without hurting the project too much) Its really the second most recognizable ghost in the film after Slimer so I think the sort of people who bought the Ecto would buy Mr Staypuft.
  21. Did LEGO give any indication as to why it wasn't suitable for LEGO Ideas (i.e. which of the criteria it failed against)? It looks interesting, is that thing in the picture meant to be a keyboard or piano or is it something else?
  22. As someone who really enjoyed the recent CGI-ish cartoon of The Little Price (It aired on ABC3 here in Australia but I cant find any real references to it online anywhere or any indications of where I might be able to pick up some DVDs or something unfortunately) I would definitely be interested in a Little Prince LEGO set.
  23. I do like the gamer guy fig in the Midway Arcade set although I haven't played Defender and dont particularly like side-scrolling shooters in that style. Might pick up the pack (to get the fig) if one ever shows up cheap otherwise I can always build the arcade cabinet myself in the colors most appropriate to arcade games I actually like (I guarantee you someone will re-create it in LDD or otherwise make the details available and if not, I can figure it out from the parts list in the instructions once they become available online at some future point) I do like the use of the microphone as a joystick though.
  24. That's not a new coin, its been in no less than 6 Friends sets (starting with the shopping mall last year)
  25. I too hope the next train we get is either a steamer or a highly detailed diesel (ala the BNSF or Santa Fe) rather than something boring like another high-speed electric train. Or how about a train in the style of the ones you see on the NYC subway, London Underground and other underground transit systems with the flat vertical front? Something that has interesting colors would be great too (we have more than enough trains in red and white and yellow, we need trains in interesting colors like green or dark green or dark blue or something cool like that.
