Aussie sales! Share the news of LOCAL sales!

If it follows on from last years Town Hall, David Jones will probably get the Palace Cinema later in the year. Also, Big W in Riverton seems to have all its toy sale stock out now except the Death Star. They also have stock of the LOTR Orc Forge if anyone wants one of those. -

The K-Mart availability tracker lists it as "available" at Carousel, best option is to actually GO to carousel K-Mart and if its not on the shelf, talk to someone in the toy section who can go back into the stockroom and look for it. Thats what I did at Morley to get mine (asked about it and someone in the toy section went into the back room and found one) Other stores in the area list as "maybe available but call to make sure first" (which is code for "dont waste the effort" in my experience) -

Anyone know if there is anywhere local (either in Perth or selling online locally without big shipping charges on a small item) that sells the LEGO minifig key-rings? Not the stupid ones with the torch, the ones that are actual minifigs. I used to have a Cop keyring which broke and I want to get a new one :) (not necessarily a cop though, just something non-licensed) I could search Bricklink but there are so many key-rings and so many Aussie stores that its hard to find who has one (and who has one for sale without charging big $ for it) -
Next CUUSOO set: 21103 Back to the Futureâ„¢ Time Machine
jonwil replied to Blakstone's topic in LEGO Licensed
If it comes with Minifigures, I will buy it no questions asked. Otherwise I will not and will put my money towards other things :) -
Just finished assembling the new Family House, I think its definatly one of the best Creator Houses to date. Only thing about it I dont like is the multi-colored roof, IMO it would have looked better if all the roof parts were dark red. I do love all the other little details like the ceiling lamp, the floor lamp with the gold fez lampshade, the bed, the swivel chair, the remote-control car and the way they used the light brick to light the interior of the house

Next CUUSOO set: 21103 Back to the Futureâ„¢ Time Machine
jonwil replied to Blakstone's topic in LEGO Licensed
The most likely explanations for why they wouldn't include figures in this set are either that they couldn't get a license to use the characters (either from Universal or from the actors involved if the actors need to give permission for their likeness to be used) or the cost to produce new figure designs (i.e. new head and torso prints) is too high (although on that last point they have produced torso designs before that have been produced in even smaller numbers than would be the case for the Cuusoo BTTF set). Once the "official announcement" is made, hopefully we can get an answer from TLG as to why the minifigs were not included in the set and what that means for minifigs in future Cuusoo sets (e.g. the Ghostbusters guys in the Ghostbusters set if that gets to 10k) I think the real answer will be when we hear about the results of the next review and they tell us if the "Space Troopers" set will be produced or not (and if not,a bit about why not) -

The other question we dont know the answer to (and will probably never know) is how much say Universal (as owners of BTTF) had in the design of the set as we are getting it. -
Review: 10228 Haunted House

This set is awesome and well worth the $250 I paid for it here in Australia. One of the most FUN sets I have built in ages. -
Next CUUSOO set: 21103 Back to the Futureâ„¢ Time Machine
jonwil replied to Blakstone's topic in LEGO Licensed
When this set was first announced, I put it on my "must have" list. I dont have a problem with the design of the car as such but if it doesn't have minifigs (something the original Cuusoo submission included and something people who voted for it probably expected the resulting set was going to include), its going to be a LOT harder to justify buying one... It may be that they couldn't get the right licenses from Universal (or the actors involved) to include minifigs or that the cost to produce the minifigs was too big (i.e. the one-off cost of producing new printed heads and torsos) -
Just about finished building my 60026, its one of the best City sets to date (along with the Public Transit set). Only negative is that my copy is missing the blue bike helmet :( (I submitted a replacement part request though so hopefully LEGO will send me one)

Picked up my Town Square from the Big W at Belmont Forum, its a nice build, definatly one of the best City sets yet made. The Haunted House on the other hand is an AMAZING build, the best set I have built since the Grand Emporium and HP Diagon Alley. Easily "top 10 best sets ever made" material and well worth the $250 price tag. -

I can say that no you wont be getting the A-Wing cheaper at Target than the current MYER discount+MYER1 offer. At least not anytime soon. -

The HH is an awesome set and I dont regret the decision to buy the HH (and spend $50 more) vs buying the Arkham. Would buy both but I cant afford another $200 on top of the HH, family house and the (soon to be acquired) City Square. Although if I could convince someone to take the Arkham minifigs (and stickers) off me for the right price (since I have no interest in those) it might make buying it possible :P -

I like the LHC and the science it is bringing to the table but, like others here, just dont think that the LEGO model design (or the real thing) look that good. -

Spotted the Tower of Pisa at various retailers today here in WA too for anyone who wants it. -
This piece http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItem.asp?P=3009pb054 would make a good sign (if you have one or can get one from Bricklink or elsewhere)

Ended up with a Creator House from MYER (the cost after the extra 10% off is so close to the Big W sale price I decided not to wait) and a Haunted House from K-Mart. If you want a Haunted House, do NOT wait, buy it NOW, the K-Mart guy told me that the stores only got a handful of sets and that stock is very limited and selling fast. Also even if its not on the shelf, ask about it, they may have stock in the back (as was the case at K-Mart in Morley where I got mine from). The availability checker on the K-Mart web site is the best way to make sure the K-Mart store you plan to go to actually has stock. Didn't find a Town Square at any Big W yet, will wait until either the sale starts or someone reports a Perth store that has one on the shelf. -

unlike some stores in the east, big w stores here in wa (at least the 1/2 dozzen i have checked) are sticking to the "we cant sell you a town square until the sale starts next week" line. plenty of stock visible at both karrinyup and perth cbd including vws, camels, mini modulars, jousts and horizon expresses. -

Yet here in the west, I haven't even seen a shelf ticket for the Haunted House, let alone an actual set :( -

I have definatly seen the new LOTR in a Target (I know for a fact I have seen the Elf Council set and I am 90% sure I have seen others) -
Why must LEGO keep releasing so many awesome wallet-draining products :( Wasn't really tempted by this but now that I have seen the review, I want one (or at the very least the new map sticker that comes in the set which will likely be nearly impossible to find on Bricklink)
