  1. This is a very nice, clean build. Your photo is also good. Lighting is way way more important than background if you ask me, as long as the background doesn't interfere with or distract from the build. You accomplished that just fine here, IMO. I'd like to see this with some figs and maybe a bit more variation/details in the grassy parts.
  2. Ah gotchya. I've seen dark skinned female faces in SW Lego but they usually have tattoos or markings.
  3. Behemoth, I think these comments sum up what you should take out of the feedback you're getting here.
  4. That flamethrower is a definite no-no.
  5. Oh man. You built that just to answer me? That's fan service right there.
  6. Very cool build. Great sense of humor and great use of an underused but super good 'fig (fortune teller). How does she get out though?
  7. Cool idea for AoM. I have a somewhat similar one involving dwarves but I love that you're doing what seems like a time exposure type thing.
  8. That is awesome, Rolli.
  9. Thank you very much. I'll definitely keep going, and probably keep on with these smaller vignette-style builds to make it all more feasible. Susannah posed the difficulty of their being only ONE (so far as I could find) female minifig of African-American coloring available. And then only recently. I got myself a Storm and she'll do the job! As for Oy... I'm not looking forward to that difficulty. I think it's going to be hard to do him justice. Thankee sai!
  10. Great build and presentation here!
  11. Wow Alf, thanks a lot! That's very nice of you to say considering it's the first one I've done. That said, I studied other peoples' for days before I started seriously building this. :P Thanks Len! Thanks Les! I worked on the castle a lot. The houses were more easy for me to conceptualize and implement but that castle was where I started and ultimately where I ended because I realized I needed to build it into the city and not the other way around. If that makes sense!
  12. Right! I remember us talking about that. And I agree that they're super representative. In fact, if we had a good source for stickers and decals I'd think there could be a push to make it more official. But alas!
  13. This is the infamous Outlaw city, The Shade, presented here as a micro build. The city is built into a natural widening in the series of canyons and passes through the rocky badlands and mountains separating the Outlaw Territories from the rest of Roawia. All of The Shade's water rests in underground reservoirs accessible only through a complex (some would say maddening) series of tunnels and caverns. Through control over the water, Queen Galainir still rules over The Shade from her castle, which rests high in the natural rise of the landscape, looming over all the grim alleys, ramshackle huts, and corrupt noble estates the city is infamous for. Note: I tried to capture the feel of a city very much like a favela built below the larger estates of Outlaw nobles. Galainir's castle is exaggerated to create an imposing effect. Also note that the presentation is a sort of "cut away" version where the rock that circles the city is absent from the front so that we can get a good look at the environs hidden within. And, uh, be kind... this is my very first microbuild!
  14. What... there's a third collective Castle Lego RPG. Next someone's going to tell me that's what Chrono is!
  15. The best advice I could give is this: back read as much of Guilds of Historica's 3 or so years of history as you can. That may seem intimidating but you can do it at your own pace and it's not a prerequisite for joining. The point of it is twofold: 1. Learn the history of Historica (hehe) so you can follow the story at least a bit. It's a sprawling shared story so it's not crucial to know every detail, but you'll absorb a lot. 2. Get a sense of the aesthetics of the different guilds as well as examples of building techniques and different personal or collective styles that have emerged. I can't emphasize the importance (and enjoyment!) of doing this! I've told other newcomers this, because it was what I did back in April-May when I joined, but not sure how many have listened. :P
  16. Thanks but you'll have to compliment Stephen King, not me. These builds are adaptations of parts of his book series.
  17. IIRC there are no official guild sigils. Just colors. I think Z simply chose stuff that fit well with the particular Guilds.
  18. No doubt. Now that I know we can still do that, expect me to get in on the action as well!
  19. Great build, SarahJoy and glad you found a use for the chobo droppings. Captain Rangvald was suspicious about the order, initially, but Eidrin was able to convince him that they'd be put to harmless use. Mitgardian garrisons have standing orders to carefully watch imports and exports, though. The times we live in... And heeeeey do I recall correctly that originally the poop was meant for paint? Did your Ruadhic buyer pull a fast one on Muninn?! :P Pig (camel) fat!
  20. Awesome griffin. I thought about doing a griffin also back when I was trying to decide between the 600 ideas I had for Mount Up! haha.
  21. I doubt it's Dr. Who. Fans of the show tend to be older and I don't really see the appeal for young kids unless Dr. Who is some kinda hot property for kids in Europe.
  22. This is awesome. The proportions aren't quite the usual for the big castle MOCs, so the effect is evocative and cute. A great way to show that simple is sometimes elegant. You should join Guilds of Historica right away. Bring your friends!
  23. We can still do that?!
  24. I never trashtalk, Alf. Just concentrate on contributing and improving your MOCs and you'll get it. You've been around longer than me, after all.
  25. MCB? LoM? What is this sorcery? This is a great build, Tomsche. One of my favorites of yours by far. You captured the iced over water effect wonderfully and who wouldn't love that penguin!
