42083 - Bugatti Chiron

You can see the steering in the photo of the manual with the handbag. It´s standard system as used in Porsche. If you want Ackermann, you need to go to 42069 and not the models with hub components. -

Rubber bands suggest it is the same method as on the Porsche but there is only one red changeover catch and that is probably used for the main shifter. -

You can see the part list yourself a few pages back on this thread. About 1600 parts are pins of one sort or another and there is not a shameful amount of non technic parts - 300 or so. -

The engine is mostly covered anyway. If it was a problem, they could have done something similar to the Mack solution. I reckon Lego have a roadmap of introducing just enough interesting parts in each model to make the doubters buy. Now we have a working transmission, the next step could be a new engine block or indeed stronger driveshafts/differentials. I imagine a Ferrari will be the next one so the engine might be the key novelty for that. -

It´s certainly an interesting debate but the Volvo 42030 was a 2014 model carried over. If we look at it that way, then in 2016 we also had the Arocs on the market! BWE had also never been done before. I guess we agree 40th anniversary was actually a low point sandwiched between two superior years? -

Got it. Part 61069 last used in a Nexo Knights set from 2016. Probably why I missed it :P -

Really? The part number in the catalogue doesn´t correspond to anything on Bricklink - maybe due to colour. What is the reference number and which main sets has it been in? -

Yes, you are right! And we all remember how so many people were calling it a game changing part and how it now appears everywhere! It will be interesting to see what applications they find for the Bugatti rear diffusor element outside of cars. -

I think 2016 will be hard to top with the Porsche, Claas and Bucket Wheel. Even the little Volvo was decent. This year the two flagships are interesting but the lower models are unremarkable. Also, everything is much more expensive. -

Maybe they are saving that for the next one when PF 2.0 is already on the market. Now we have a proper gearbox and AWD, the next supercar will have to bring something extra to the table. -

I count 6 new parts for the Bugatti. The Porsche introduced the 7x3 panel, 11 length axle, new front hub holder, fenders and tyres and the red driving ring for the sequential box, which have all appeared on other sets since then. It also had exclusive rims so that´s 7 new parts IIRC. -

Sections of the summer catalogue have already been posted on EB and other social media, there is a nice high res pic of the crane. -

Uwe Wabra must be pretty annoyed he had to make do with existing parts for his Porsche gearbox and all the criticism taken for it! -

I still think the front end and particularly the bonnet are the weakest sides. Many gaps there that could have been filled more gracefully. I wonder how long the live build will last? -

Yes, it´s a half length driving ring extension for the modern system. Let´s hope it shows up in 42082 and other cheaper models. -

Someon was asking about the front axle suspension attachment points. It´s the single thin wishbone element part first used in the Snowmobile and Aroc and there are 2 shocks for each wheel. -

AFAIK there are 4 pages of parts, 316-319. Recapping; 5 all new parts, colours are Dark Azure and Dark Blue, it´s 4x4 and you get a luggage bag and an exclusive printed tile with a code for extra content, like the Porsche. There are 26 sticker but most are for the cockpit. -
