  1. I've built several of Madoca's models and they are all very good. The thing I find the most amazing is how quickly he gets a new model designed in built after only recently revealing a new model. For example, it's only been a few weeks ago that he show all of us his Tatra and now this one... how does he do it?
  2. I built several of the buggy models on rebrickable and I seem to recall that the the Sand Racer didn't require any a-arms.
  3. Sadly, No obvious #3 red connectors or black 19L flex axles in those pics...
  4. I have used his website and instructions for several models. He has a very nice forklift alternate model he made from 8052 and a very good bulldozer alternate model from 42006.
  5. Thanks for the feedback. I typically use a white light-box but I decided to film my review of this one outside with natural light. I will consider that in future videos. Thanks.
  6. Hello everyone - I'm starting this topic to write a brief review of the new Crowkillers Lego Technic Supercar - Phantasm Twin Turbo - Ghost Edition. Paul recently completed this design in summer 2014 and has made instructions available on his website (www.crowkillers.com) for $12. When you purchase the instructions you get high quality renditions for both a red and white version. I built the white version. The instructions and parts list are flawless and very easy to follow for an experienced Technic builder. The white model has a few parts that are a bit difficult to find at a reasonable price (i.e. white 19L flex axles) but generally he made a great effort to use a lot of 2014 parts and older parts that are readily available. The model has all of the features that you would expect on a super car of this scale (opening doors, transmission, suspension, etc.). However, in my opinion, this model has two features that are unique and different from anything that he has done before. First would be steering. This model has HOG steering near the rear of the model and a functional steering wheel. The aspect that makes it unique is that the steering axle passes directly through the 5-speed transmission. The solutions he came up with to achieve this were rather clever. The second marque feature of this model is the mechanism that opens the scissor doors. The mechanism lifts the doors up and moves them out simultaneously. Even though I have built it and studied it closely I am still not sure exactly how it works... but it works flawlessly every time! The last note about this model is simply the body shape and the great way he has used panels to achieve a very sleek look. Probably the most notable feature is the headlamps and the way the two panels form a perfect casing that wraps around them. I'm not a man of many words so I've produced a high quality video to showcase all the relevant features of this fantastic super car.
  7. All - I started a new review topic for the Phantasm Twin Turbo here: http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=99971
  8. Most smartphones have a free app that will allow you to control EV3 via bluetooth
  9. I think a few things can be noted as to why we will never see a LEGO Technic model come from Ideas/Cuusoo. First, as ZBLJ noted above, some people feel that Technic isn't "real" LEGO. Second, I personally do not think Technic is popular enough with the target demographic. Third, Technic does not have minifigures so it automatically makes it less desirable to the target group. Fourth, a Technic model may be hard to intergrate into one's current collection of bricks if they do not typically buy and build Technic. Finally, I think even a simple but functionally correct Technic model is considered to be to difficult to build for younger builders (even though it would most likely be more sturdy and playable than a typical system set.) The last point may not really be true but its just my opinion.
  10. This thing would look great sitting right next to Madoca's Corvette! Great work!
  11. I highly recommend rebrickable. While we here in the USA had to wait until August 2014 to get any new Technic, I resorted to Rebrickable to find things to build to keep my addiction well feed.
  12. I like the idea of the annotations. It gives people a quick option to skip parts they don't care about which is one of the complaints people have about watching Lego videos. Great idea. I might try it out as well. But I have found on YouTube that most people close the annotations rather than use them as intended.
  13. This statement pretty much sums up this topic... what else can be said or written on this topic that is more perfect than this?
  14. No. Brickshow is not the place for Technic reviews. I stated in my original post that I do Technic reviews for them... Whenever they ask me and send me the set... Which is few and far between. My question is more about those of us who primarily post Technic reviews exclusively.
  15. I certainly hope my reviews fall into the done properly category. I am currently working on building 42024 and I am going to put together a review for YouTube that takes into account several of the points discussed in this discussion and the main topic. Maybe this new approach I am taking will appeal to more people in that I will get my hands and stupid voice out of the videos and just have a very short clip at the end to demonstrate the features... Wish me luck.
  16. All - So the Eurobricks front page has a poll of whether Lego fans prefer picture reviews with text or a video review. The overwhelming majority of voters chose picture reviews and many stated valid reasons for their vote. The reason for my post here in the Technic forum is to get a sense of how mostly Technic builders feel about this? I confess that I am a Technic reviewer on YouTube and I found the results of the poll to be quite distrubing. Many folks said the only reviewers they watch are Brick Show, BrickQueen and JangBricks... all of which rarely do any Technic reviews (BTW... I now do the official Lego Technic set reviews for Brickshow since they botched the 8070 review a while back). My question or reason for this post would be to start a discussion on the pros / cons of both types of reviews and what the general Technic fan population prefers when it comes to reading or watching reviews of either official Lego sets or even MOCs. Thanks!
  17. Certainly not the YouTube reviewers I think of when it comes to Technic...
  18. Stunning... all the Chrome on your black version makes my red version with Chrome wheels look cheap. Great job!
  19. Here is a link to my YouTube video review of Madoca's Corvette!
  20. Another EPIC Madoca model I am going to have to build... those pesky #3 red connectors though...
  21. I only cut and destroy my #3 red axle connectors and my 19L black soft flex axles... everything else I sell. ; )
  22. Hi all - I was curious as to what Technic MOC builders thought about the concept of a Lego fan finding and building a MOC on a site such as Rebrickable and then posting a video review of the model on YouTube? I have done this already with some of Crowkillers supercars and several of Madoca's designs and Hedgie's Compact Convertible. I personally always try and give proper credit to the designer in my videos and give info to viewers so they can check out the designers webpage etc. on their own. What is the general feeling of this from those who design these great models?
  23. Great job! Thanks for sharing.
