  1. Members of the train tech forum should bombard iDEAS with train projects this year!!! @Jefry Been My only criticism is that the boiler seems a bit oversized compared to the wheels…? Still looks great though!
  2. @Pendra37 I realize that Lego Ideas is essentially a terminus of sorts for anything train related, but that doesn’t mean we should stop trying! Plus there’s a (better?) chance for this to be picked up by that designer program on Bricklink. Also, since when has play value become a bad thing…? I appreciate your feedback!
  3. @Tube Map Central The Polar Express movie rights are owned by WB, and TLG does have a contract with them for DC comics stuff at least… So if anything, it might actually be Warner Bros. that’s holding off on this?
  4. @Feuer Zug I appreciate your feedback on the set! It looks like you debunked my theory about iDEAS having some sort of hidden “auto reject” setup, which is good for everyone to know. I don’t understand why I had to resubmit like 3x but I’m determined…. My project has actually been live which is why I created this post on Eurobricks! You can find it fastest by typing in “shiro” in the search bar. Thanks again for your support! @Eki1210 Thanks for the support!
  5. When that happens, you could then recreate that scene from the Polar Express movie where the train drifts around on the surface of a frozen lake
  6. @Feuer Zug Why is combining two sub-themes considered going overboard? Personally, I feel like I could have dedicated more of the overall build into the farm, but then the train elements would just kinda... be there too? @Brickwolf Thanks for the praise! @LEGO Train 12 Volts I chose the white& light bley colors to mask the battery box as part of the main engine body. I did do a few recolors when I initially started building this digitally
  7. Do you have video to share of this? 4% seems steep imho, but sounds fun! I've recently taken to building 10-wide trains (thanks to @coaster) and have switched from magnets to BMR's knuckle couplers, although I might be in too deep now to switch back...
  8. @Polarlicht The only stumbling block to any x-8-x locomotive being officially produced by TLG is how the steam drivers are molded in a 3-wheel pack.....
  9. @XG BC Tbh, I really don't know! It might not have been for the reasons I had originally assumed. I'm wondering if the IDEAS team secretly has like an "autoblocker" function to test how persistent you are when it comes to rejection...? Although I would need other users who've submitted recently to corroborate.
  10. *A Lego IDEAS submission* Frankie's Farm by Nick Jackson, on Flickr Welcome to the farm! This is a farm-themed freight train set that features the small diesel engine Shiro-chan. Shiro-chan v2 (front) by Nick Jackson, on Flickr There are three freight cars to transport cargo from the farm to your LEGO town. These are an all-purpose gondola, a tanker car, and a wood-paneled livestock car. Gondola (v2) by Nick Jackson, on Flickr Tank Car by Nick Jackson, on Flickr Stock Car (open) by Nick Jackson, on Flickr The farm consists of a barn with a loft, a mini tractor with a trailer, and a raised goods platform with a crane hoist. Barn Full by Nick Jackson, on Flickr Tractor (front) by Nick Jackson, on Flickr Farm Platform by Nick Jackson, on Flickr In the barn's loft there is a spot where a minifigure can take a quick nap next to the hay! Barn Loft by Nick Jackson, on Flickr Barn Open by Nick Jackson, on Flickr Drive the tractor and trailer to haul crates' worth of goods and supplies between the barn and the platform. The cargo platform has attachment points in the base which allow you to rearrange the ramps and staircase. The barn can also attach to the platform. For minifigures, there are two train operators, three farmhands, and an assortment of farm animals including cows, chickens, dogs and cats. Barn, Tractor, & Minifigs by Nick Jackson, on Flickr I built this digitally via Stud.io, but I have also built Shiro-chan (the engine) in real life. Depending on how the support campaign goes, I will attempt to construct the rest of the set. Not all of the parts exist (yet) in the colors depicted however. Thanks so much for taking some time to look at my project! **UPDATE** 6/28/22 So, I ordered some parts and set about building this in real bricks! I think the set turned out rather well! Can you spot the differences between the renders and the irl build…?
  11. Three things that would make me hawt for a Hogwarts Express D2C: 1) Dark Red 2) A larger version of Hogsmede(?) station (similar parts count as disney station) 3) Two coaches *if* TLG ever made it like this, I would feel obligated to buy a minimum of 3~4 sets hands down.
  12. But where else can we voice our collective disappointment...? Also, what if the next train is in the same scale as 40518...? What'll we do then...?
  13. @dr_spock i agree! If Friends’ can get a (psuedo) modular building set, why not a train as well…? It should be 8-wide though imho
  14. I kinda hope TLG recolors that 60197 nose piece at least one more time in a darker color-- maybe a dark red or dark green...?
  15. @Matt Dawson I wonder if lego will finally just bundle all the track elements together for say, $30 usd? A switch, a few curves, straights, and a couple of flexies
  16. It would be wild if the $180 set was the train station…!
  17. But will it still be brittle though...? *crunch*
  18. @legotownlinz i have some stock Lego switches that also stick like that (but maybe not as pronounced). What would be a good remedy though? Some light sanding of the adjacent parts sound less messy than lubricant.
  19. @Amoreternum Is BB’s brown brittle too…?
  20. These Creator miniature trains wouldn't be half as bad if they were actual precursors or homages to actual train sets...
  21. What we really need is a new cargo station + container port that will inspire the younger generations to improve global shipping infrastructure!
  22. @Tube Map Central Ohh that ones nice and “affordable” looking…! has it been a staff pick for that long?
  23. It would look silly, of course! But nonetheless amusing to the kids...
  24. @michaelgale Looks like you had a blast testing out those new elements!
  25. @McWaffel What would be a decent, modern passenger prototype that TLG could model which wouldn't necessitate a large 1-piece mold for the front? . . . Also, does anyone think we'll be seeing more green engines/ rolling stock to coincide with TLG's commitment to more eco-friendly business practices?
